ColourPop Lunar New Year Lip Colors Reviews & Swatches
It's Grr Time
ColourPop It’s Grr Time Fresh Kiss Lip Lacquer ($8.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a bright, cherry red with cooler undertones and a jelly-like, cream finish. There was slight translucency to the finish, which gave it a plumper, smoother, and juicier end result, and while it wasn’t “opaque” it wasn’t lacking in coverage either. The consistency was lightweight, spreadable, and felt more like a gloss than a liquid lipstick. It lasted well for five hours and was moisturizing over time.

Formula Overview

The formula is supposed to have the "pigment of a liquid lipstick" paired with the "shine of a super gloss" that is also hydrating and "ultra-creamy" with "high colour saturation." They were pigmented--typically semi-opaque to opaque--with a smooth, creamy consistency that was lightweight, non-sticky, and spreadable.
If anything, I found they were a little thicker and/or too much product was dispensed on one pull of the doe-foot applicator (so wipe off excess or try to use just one side for getting coverage) as there was a fine line between a good application (mostly even) and a less-stellar application that had some streaking.
I found that they were smoothing of my lip lines, especially as it wore down, and my lips looked hydrated, fuller, and smoother. Most shades lasted around four hours with some lingering color and shine with an even fade/wear down. The formula was comfortable to wear and very hydrating, and it gave me the feeling of a lipgloss/lip balm hybrid more so than a lipstick/lipgloss hybrid.
They were vanilla-scented but has no discernible taste.

Hear Me Rawr
ColourPop Hear Me Rawr Fresh Kiss Lip Crème ($8.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a vivid, medium red with cool, blue undertones and a satin finish. It was intensely pigmented–a little went a very long way–and delivered even, opaque coverage in a single layer. The texture was lightweight, spreadable, and like a mousse-like cream, so it was lightweight and comfortable to wear. It stayed on well for over six hours, left a strong stain behind, and was hydrating over time.

Formula Overview

The formula is supposed to be a "hybrid" product that has the "colour of a lipstick with the care of a lip balm" in a "creamy matte finish." They described the coverage as "buildable." They feature a flexible, doe-foot applicator that has a more rounded side and a more slanted, triangular side (the latter worked well for getting crisper lines of color).
The product had more semi-opaque to opaque coverage in a single pull of product, though one could certainly use just one side's worth of the applicator product to achieve sheerer, more buildable coverage if desired.
The consistency was mousse-like with an airy, velvety-smooth feel that made it easy to spread across my lips and kept it comfortable to wear. It wasn't clingy, but there was a bit of adhesion without tackiness, the kind I tend to find is present with more velvety, silicone-heavy formulas like this one.
It has a more cream-like finish that wears down to a soft matte finish after an hour or two. They don't have a full dry-down, so they are not transfer-resistant or ultra long-wearing. They lasted between four and six hours with deeper, more red-toned shades tending to last the longest and leaving behind light stains. They were lightly hydrating over time. There didn't appear to be a scent, and there was no taste.
They are much lighter-weight and less "wet" in feel going on initially compared to the brand's prior Ultra Satin formula. The Ultra Satin formula adhered more and was very long-wearing, and while not initially transfer-resistant, it was more transfer-resistant after an hour or two of wear.

Show Your Stripes
ColourPop Show Your Stripes Glossy Lip Stain ($8.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a darker red with neutral-to-cool undertones and a glossy finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage paired with a very fluid, almost watery, texture that transformed to something lightly tacky and thicker on my lips. I had issues with streaking that were difficult to smooth out, even as I let the product set. It wore well for five and a half hours and felt moisturizing while worn.

It's supposed to have the "long-lasting powers of a lip stain" with the "shine of a gloss" paired with "medium to buildable coverage" that is "non-drying." The initial texture was almost watery, overly spreadable (and the applicator often picked up more product than necessary, so take care during application) but dried down to a more satiny shine that was less glossy and more like a satin lipstick with some translucency.
The initial shine wore off within two hours, so it looked like a true satin finish--this was true of doing nothing or just taking a drink of a glass as it wasn't transfer-resistant. The stain did not power through a meal and tended to leave a very strong ring around the edges of my lips as it wore away so quickly while eating. Left to its own devices, most shades wore around six hours with a faint stain left behind.
It had medium, buildable coverage but quickly built to more semi-opaque coverage without an official second layer (just going back and forth to get an even layer of product). A couple of shades were truer to medium and others were more semi-opaque from the first layer.
There didn't seem to be any added fragrance nor taste while worn.

“Hear Me Rawr” looks like it just needs the tiniest touch of golden shimmer, and it would be a really good substitute (not QUITE dupe) of Chanel Dragon.
My pick of the litter has to be Hear Me Rawr. That’s one that I know would look just right on me. But yo; that name! 😹
The tank top I wear to the pool is black with a black cat’s face superimposed on it, and in bold, large gray print it says RAWR. Looks I get at the pool sometimes…😅
Wow – these look fabulous and not a bit drying or matte looking at all.
I don’t think I have any lip product as juicy as these. I have lipsticks in colours like these, of course I do, but the finish is nothing like these little lovlies.
They are very pretty.
