Best ColourPop Super Shock Shadows

ColourPop Super Shock Shadows

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a cream-based formula that comes in a multitude of shades and finishes. The more metallic shades have the most slip to them (they have a “wetter” feel), while the more matte ones have a firmer, more clay-like consistency. Almost every shade I’ve tried from ColourPop has been exceptionally long-wearing (10+ hours of wear, usually there until I remove, even 14 hours later). The pigmentation can vary from shade to shade, but the average shade is quite pigmented. From feedback I’ve seen from readers, many love them but some don’t like them at all. They aren’t a traditional cream eyeshadow, as they are denser (more sponge-like), and they apply best with flat, firm, synthetic brushes (I like the MAC 242 and 249) for me. The brand recommends using fingers for the most pigmented application, but I’ve only felt that fingers were necessary on a few shades (usually the super glittery ones).

Grrrr….ColourPop just sent me notice of 1 day flash sale (20% off sitewide), so I ran to their site, which was crazy slow and glitchy, and LOADED up my cart with a ton of stuff, and site crashed! Now it’s totally down, says they are doing web maintenance. Well, I think they should’ve foreseen this would happen. C’mon ColourPop, come back up and extend the sale!

Personally, I love almost every single shade I’ve purchased this past year. Especially loving: Coconuts, Rhinestone, “3”, Girly, SuperModel, DGAF, Glitteratti, Cheap Date, Moonshine, Flower Shop, Wattles, Weenie, Hustle, Party Time and Mixed Tape!
Oddly, two of the highest rated, most beloved shades are a major PITA for me to apply! Bae is beautiful, but seriously not fun to work with at all. So Quiche just looks strange on me….maybe it’s my olive complexion, or something? Idk? But it doesn’t look “right” on me. Wish it did, though. ?
And I thoroughly despise Stereo!!! It’s pretty, but got me all sorts of the *wrong* attention while traveling on the buses to see a good friend! ?

I love almost all of my colour pop eyeshadows. There is a small learning curve, I think, just because the texture is so unique. They are by far the longest wearing shadows I own, and they wear best for me sans primer. I own several shades on your list, and a few others are shades I’ve been wanting. I’ve been putting off getting the Kathleen Lights Where the Night Is quad, but seeing all four shades in your top 25 seals the deal. Interestingly enough, I don’t have good luck with Bae. Mine is part of a split pan duo that came in a quad a while back, so I wonder if the quality was different.

I wish it wasn’t so expensive to ship to Canada, and I live close to the border too. Shipping for 4 liquid lippies cost $17! I’d love to try these shadows but it’s far too expensive, I’m hoping one day it’ll be different 🙂

It’s neat to see some of my favorites on here! I’m once again bummed that Mixed Tape isn’t permanent, though maybe it will be? It wasn’t discontinued two months ago when they got rid of a lot of the other shadows and lipsticks from that ’90s launch.

Christine, out of curiosity, how long do you wait in between making the initial swatch and taking the picture? I’ve found that a lot of the tones shift slightly during the dry-down process. It makes a difference with a shadow like Hanky Panky, which loses its yellow tones after a few minutes and turns into a truly cool-toned taupe on me. Mixed Tape gets a lot deeper/darker too.

If there’s a dry down time, I wait to let it dry down, but the time will vary from formula to formula! I don’t personally find that CP’s eyeshadows really change on me… or not that I’ve really noticed? They might be lighter/darker than they appear in the pan but not really a change once on.

i’m one of those unfortunates who doesn’t get what the deal is with colourpop. i was as excited as everyone else at a reasonably priced shadow, and i probably have 8 or 9 of them. for me, they will not, cannot, and do not blend at all. i’ve used fingertip, synthetic brush, regular blending brush, stiffer brush–totally no-go. the only colourpop product i really like is their lippie stiks with coordinating lip pencil. these apply easily and really last. the eyeshadows for me, though, are a total bust, and i would return them all if i could.

I’m not at all surprised that the Where The Night Is quad colors made this list! Even more incentive for me to branch out and try Telepathy and Coconut 😛 Thanks for the list, Christine! Missed the sale but hey, they’re cheap enough to begin with.

Finally satisfied my curiosity for Colourpop by putting in my first order ever. I have sensitive skin that can react badly to volatile silicones so the lack of return policy has always stayed my hand. But lately, I have been looking for cream-to-powder formulations and this seems like the best thing to try out. Crossing my fingers that it works out!

I counted up my collection; I have 38, but only 5 of mine overlap your faves. I think I tend to go for the more matte and satin finishes rather than the metallics, and warm browns/bronzes don’t suit me. I would absolutely put Bae at the top though, and Girly would rank high (I gave out a bunch of Girly/Bae duos to ladies at Xmas), but I <3 This would bring up the rear (excessive fallout!).

Colourpop REALLY need to sort out their international shipping- I so want to get my hands on their products but can’t because they simply don’t ship to the UK! And postage forwarding companies charge an arm and a leg- I would love some colourpop, but not at over 70% markup with customs charges 🙁
