ColourPop I Heart This, Tinsel, Lectra, Farah, Onai Super Shock Shadows Reviews, Photos, Swatches
ColourPop I Heart This Super Shock Shadow
ColourPop I Heart This Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as a “cool-toned silvery taupe.” It’s a brightened, light-medium gold with a metallic, sparkly finish. It had excellent color payoff with a very smooth consistency. It had a lot of fall out during application (if you blend it at all, expect fall out), and then I had some fall out during wear (noticeable but not terrible) but no creasing or fading for ten hours. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
ColourPop Tinsel Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as a “grayed out icy lavender [with a Metallic finish].” It’s a plummy brown with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had semi-opaque color payoff both swatched and applied to the lid, though it was buildable with two to three layers patted on. The texture was very smooth, though. It looked the same ten hours later as when I first applied it. It is part of the Not a Box of Chocolates limited edition set. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
ColourPop Lectra Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as a “deepened burgundy with pink violet glitter [with a Metallic finish].” It’s a medium-dark, plummy purple with warm, reddish undertones and lighter violet sparkle. It doesn’t read metallic to me–more like a satin with sparkle, but the sparkle is actually present on the lid due to the cream formula. It had great pigmentation that went on smoothly and evenly on the lid. I had slight fall out over time, but the eyeshadow itself didn’t crease or fade over a ten-hour period.
It is part of the Megan Naik foursome. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
ColourPop Farah Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as a “deep brown [with a Matte finish].” It’s a medium-dark brown with warm, yellow undertones and a satin finish. There’s a subtle sheen to it that keeps it from being totally flat, but it doesn’t have a lot of shine. It had good pigmentation and a very smooth, even application. I didn’t have any issues with fading or creasing over ten hours. It is part of the Megan Naik foursome. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
ColourPop Onai Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as a “creamy white with blue violet opalescent duochrome [with a Satin finish].” It’s a light beige with a hint of warmth and a pearly sheen. I didn’t get much of a duochrome with this, though. It had fairly good color payoff with a blendable, smooth texture. It wore well for ten hours. It is part of the Megan Naik foursome. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Wow, I still can’t believe how nice these shadows are for only $5 each!!
They’re really nice!
Looks like I need that foursome! Lectra is stunning and Farah looks like a great crease shade
The Megan Naik foursome is nice!
Mine finally arrived. I can’t wait to try them out, especially Lectra.
Oooh! Rachel, can you please express your opinion of these once you’ve tried them? Thank you!! <3
These sound like really nice shadows, especially that they don’t fade after such a long period of time! The price is really decent, too. I haven’t purchased anything by this company so I am going to look into this one. Thank you! And Happy Sunday!
xx
Jenny
I’m surprised they wear so long!
Tinsel and Lectra are amazing!
I really like Lectra!
darn, i only bought lipsticks from when I saw your swatches, but I need to try their shadows as well how gorgeous
Good thing free shipping is on $30 orders (not too bad!).
haha you enabler!! 😉
First of all, thanks so much for your valuable job!
Oh, I love Lectra !!!!!!!
Can’t wait for your reviews on all other shades that I may complete my ColourPop buying list.
Have a good week!
Lauren.
My pleasure, Lauren! 🙂
I love Colourpop! They’re one of my favorite brands ever since I’ve tried them. I’m so excited to see you tried and reviewed them. Especially for $5 I find I love them just as much (in some cases maybe more) as my very expensive eyeshadows. Especially since I can wear them even without primer and they stay all day.
They’re really lovely – very comparable to other formulas by higher-end brands.
I Heart This is a very pretty colour. They are gorgeous shadows for the price: now if Colour Pop can do this, so can all the other high end brands that are not quite delivering at the moment.
Yes, ColourPop has proven that brands with poor performing cream eyeshadows need to rethink themselves!
Weird. According to the description on the Colourpop site, shouldn’t the one you have that’s labeled Lectra be the color Amira? I wonder which is correct.
Amira- Deepened burgundy with pink violet glitter in a Metallic finish Onai- Creamy white with blue violet opalescent duo chrome in a Satin finish Farah- Deep brown in a Matte finish Lectra- Antique gilded gold with multi- coloured and multi- dimensional glitter in a Metallic finish
The site has them backwards, because I triple-checked the labels when I reviewed Amira (which is the one that should be described as an antique gold) – I had them both on my desk when I was writing the Amira review! 🙂 That’s why I photograph every single label (shown in the post).
I Heart This was the main one I had my eye on, but I’m disappointed that it has fall out during wear, because I would want it as a casual all over lid color. Argh.
I had no interest in buying any of these. But there’s one with my name. If that’s not a sign, I don’t know what is.
Ah ha! 😀
I’m really loving and lemming Tinsel and Lectra! And also I Heart This, but perhaps it’s too close in color to a shade in Nars Kauai that I have?
Hi Christine,
Out of all the ColourPop supershock shadows, which one would you say is the most similar to Stila Kitten?
Thank you 🙂
I’m not sure!
I ordered so many of this during the last of the 12 Days they had. I was waiting for your reviews to come out but I didn’t want to miss the special. Thank goodness the rest of these colors are buy-worthy!! Can’t wait to try them!
Question, do you usually swatch the shadows with or without primer, dry or wet? I got some of the MUFE Artist Shadows and tried it on my eyelids but it just isn’t as bold as your swatches….so I tried swatching it on my arms but same problem…
I almost never use primer these days, since 95% of formulas say they’re long-wearing, super pigmented, blah blah marketing speak, so I don’t use primer for swatching or in my eye looks unless specified – e.g. occasionally I might try a product with primer, but it’s pretty rare and will always say something like “over primer” in the caption. The only eyeshadows I’ll swatch or use wet are usually formulas that specify they’re wet/dry formulas, and then you’ll see two swatches – dry and damp. For testing, I usually apply it both ways to see if they wear differently/apply differently.
Which Artist Shadows did you get, Viki? I haven’t reviewed them all, but not all are fantastic (though many of them are). I usually use MAC’s 239 brush with them, but some of the satins are better with a synthetic brush.
Thank you for your reply Christine! I attempted this (http://www.temptalia.com/make-ever-d562-m842-s616-artist-shadows-reviews-photos-swatches#more-174285) look but substituted Wine with ME840 Pink Chrome. I usually use between MUFE #226 shader brush and #216 blender brush for the application. The thing is, I don’t even have oily lids but I don’t get why it’s so hard for me to shade in the color.
Thanks!
And the hits keep coming! I put in my order two days ago and I can’t wait for my goodies to come. 🙂
I was planning on not buying more eyeshadows until I had used up more of what I have in my stash, it is getting kind of pathetic, it is so stacked up. But these ColourPop ones are killing me, I think I can maybe hold out until January, but I see a major stockup at that point.
Wow, Lectra looks stunning! In my head I’m already creating looks with it, haha 🙂
Uuummm yes. Guess who’s blowing all their money on these shadows, the lipsticks, and the Melt stacked shadows?
Hint: me. It’s me.
The last bit reminds me of Finding Nemo.
Let me guess, the next one is me? 😉
I love Lectra!
These are sooo lovely! I really wish I had access to this brand in Australia.
I hope they expand distribution soon!
Eee! Tinsel, Lectra and Onai are my favourites here. LOL, if it had strong duochrome, I could probably try using Onai as a highlighter *vampire face* ^_^
Not sure.. I feel something has to be wrong! Just an inkling of a cover up for some ingredients or I’m not sure what.. I honestly don’t want singles flying everywhere. How do they feel to the finger, and is there fallout? Ever??
Hey Lotus!
I mentioned any fall out issues above with respect to the shade 🙂 They’re like a cream without a lot of wetness.
I feel the same way! I know I’m late getting on board with this, but I’m officially riding coach (all the way in the tail section). Colour Pop just seems too good to be true…
$5 a pop for .07oz./2.1grams of shadow, $5 off your 1st order, free ship on $30+, & the products are quality… My 1st thought was “how are they pulling this off?”—can’t help it, trust issues—”rich girls with makeup passion?”…
When I read through their site I couldn’t help wondering if they were related in some way to UD.. whether through blood or biz…
Anyway, I went ahead & spent money I didn’t have to try these lil babies out—ordered the Rebound “quad”, Girl Crush, So Quiche, & Animal (I have coral issues too, Christine! ..love those teals as well..), took a leap of “faith” on the Rebound “quad” (I’d love to see you do a look with it, Christine! I always always always love your looks), & now I’m just waiting…
They pretty much seem like a venture capitalist-backed effort that studied their target demographic and went full steam ahead. You can see the money invested in it–it’s a very strategic business from what I can see. More like when Estee Lauder launched Aerin as a brand – Aerin might be new, but it’s not a brand started in someone’s kitchen, you know? That’s how I see ColourPop.
Totally. Well that’s cool. That was a fantastic description, btw, & much appreciated!
I know that area where their store/office is on Wilshire, & I was curious if you were able to pick up your order(s), or if they had to be mailed… Oh you guys just had your IMATS last weekend, rt? Do you attend? Or just chill cuz it’s over the weekend? If I had the press pass, I’d def go for the samples lol… & whatever knowledge I could soak up 😉
Oh I just received my Colour Pop order today (YAY!), I didn’t know that the Santa Monica addy was just their mailing addy. Muh bad 😉
Oooh, I LOVE Lectra! It doesn’t appear to be available as a single eyeshadow on the Colourpop website, though – Christine, do you know if it’s only available in the Megan Naik quartet?
I think it is just part of the “quad”!
Do you think Onai can work as a white base? My oily lids melt the NYX Jumbo Pencil (Milk) right off my face, so I’ve been on the hunt for a more resilient one for quite a while now.
It could, but I don’t think it’s quite as pigmented/opaque like Milk – also not as sticky!
