ColourPop x Summer 2017 Super Shock Shadows Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Banana Daiquiri
ColourPop Banana Daiquiri Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a bright, medium bluish-teal with cooler undertones and warmer flecks of pale gold sparkle. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that maintained its vibrancy after it dried down. The consistency was smooth, blendable, and lightly emollient but not too thick or too wet, so it was easy to apply to bare skin without losing its intensity. The edges diffused nicely, while the color applied evenly. This shade stayed on well for over 10 hours on me with no signs of creasing.

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow is a cream-based formula that comes in a multitude of shades and finishes. The more metallic shades have the most slip to them (they have a “wetter” feel), while the more matte ones have a firmer, more clay-like consistency. Almost every shade I’ve tried from ColourPop has been exceptionally long-wearing (10+ hours of wear, usually there until I remove, even 14 hours later). The pigmentation can vary from shade to shade, but the average shade is quite pigmented.
From feedback I’ve seen from readers, many love them but some don’t like them at all. They aren’t a traditional cream eyeshadow, as they are denser (more sponge-like), and they apply best with flat, firm, synthetic brushes (I like the MAC 242 and 249) for me. The brand recommends using fingers for the most pigmented application, but I’ve only felt that fingers were necessary on a few shades (usually the super glittery ones).
The more matte shades can be on the drier side and vary from medium to opaque in coverage, though they're often buildable. They can be a little hard to diffuse the edges of, though some are lovely to work with.
The more glittery shades have been the weakest to me, as they can be sheerer or harder to apply. Sometimes, they are more pigmented and work like the other finishes in the formula, but often, they are sheerer and only function well patted on top of more pigmented eyeshadows to add glitter. They do, however, tend to have little fallout over time with the occasional shade having a more moderate amount of fallout (but still less fallout than most powder eyeshadows with glitter).

As You Wave
ColourPop As You Wave Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a vibrant, deep coral-red with warm, fiery copper shimmer that gave it a more pearlized finish. It had intense pigmentation that applied fairly evenly and smoothly to the lid, though I noticed that it was a bit more emollient than the average Super Shock Shadow. The color blended out with ease and was still going strong after 10 hours of wear.

Deep Dive
ColourPop Deep Dive Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium-dark bronze with warm undertones and flecks of gold and purple shimmer. It had good color coverage, though it was not opaque, paired with a smooth, emollient consistency that wasn’t too thin or too thick. The eyeshadow applied evenly on bare skin and stayed in place well for 10 hours.

I have something similar to As You Wave, just lighter and it has more gold to it but I really like this color. Now to decide if I need this or not lol.
Tough call! What shade do you have that is similar?
OMG, As You Wave is on my buy list! I was drooling over Lumbre from the UD Naked Heat palette, but didn’t want the whole palette, so it’s great CP has a dupe! It’s rather warm for me, but the color is just stunning, like a fiery sunset
As You Wave is stunning!
I love as you wave as well and will pick it up. Man, I haven’t purchased anything from colourpop in a while!
That was one of my favorites, too!
Even though I told myself I wouldn’t get any more CP SupershockEyeshadow singles because they are a PITA to locate a shade in my stash of them, therefore most of the time I will pass on using mine…. I can feel a haul coming upon me. All 3 of these included!
Aww! I don’t know – maybe focus on pressed instead if you won’t use them as often?
Deep Dive is still stunning to me! I love it.
Yay!
I love the colors and price points but i hate the texture of this product. i really don’t want to be applying my makeup with my hands. last i checked my fingers are a bit too big for any kind of detail work and using a brush with these is a nightmare.
I never use my fingers with ColourPop eyeshadows unless it’s ultra sparkly – I only use brushes myself!
All three are winners to me.
They are!
As you wave and banana daiquiri are calling my name.
Great picks, Brenda!
Just glorious shades for summer – all of them.
I agree!
Wow Banana Daiquiri and As You Wave are stunning! Interesting that As You Wave is similar to MAC Expensive Pink but with a stronger, more intense base. Glad i have a dupe for Banana Daiquiri in BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes.
Yeah, As You Wave is more unique as it is quite deeper/more intense!
What do you find is the best way/best brushes to apply the SSS? I try to avoid using my fingers, but everyone seems to suggest that!
I use flat, synthetic brushes like MAC 242.
These are gorgeous! I think I’ll be grabbing all three.
What brushes do you use for the super shock shadows? At the moment, I’ve mostly been using them on the lid and applying with my fingers.
I use flat, synthetic brushes, like MAC 242.
All three of these shadows are gorgeous 🙂 I don’t have any Colour Pop products as nobody in Canada carries the line, but the consistent great reviews have got me thinking I need to get my hands on some of them! There are available at Ulta, is that correct?
ColourPop is only online through ColourPop.com!
Nice to see all of them turned out to be great!
As You Wave packs quite the punch! Wow!
