ColourPop Spring 2018 Super Shock Shadows Reviews, Photos, Swatches (Part 1)
I Like You
ColourPop I Like You Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a light-medium, golden orange with warm, yellow undertones and a sparkly sheen. It had more of a pearly sheen with bits of larger sparkle strewn throughout it, so it didn’t appear as glittery as ColourPop’s true glitter finish eyeshadows. The consistency was smooth, spongy without feeling too wet, and blendable on my bare skin. It had opaque coverage that was still going strong after 10 hours of wear and no fallout from what I could tell.

Formula Overview

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow is a cream-based formula that comes in a multitude of shades and finishes. The more metallic shades have the most slip to them (they have a “wetter” feel), while the more matte ones have a firmer, more clay-like consistency. Almost every shade I’ve tried from ColourPop has been exceptionally long-wearing (10+ hours of wear, usually there until I remove, even 14 hours later). The pigmentation can vary from shade to shade, but the average shade is quite pigmented.
From feedback I’ve seen from readers, many love them but some don’t like them at all. They aren’t a traditional cream eyeshadow, as they are denser (more sponge-like), and they apply best with flat, firm, synthetic brushes (I like the MAC 242 and 249) for me. The brand recommends using fingers for the most pigmented application, but I’ve only felt that fingers were necessary on a few shades (usually the super glittery ones).
The more matte shades can be on the drier side and vary from medium to opaque in coverage, though they're often buildable. They can be a little hard to diffuse the edges of, though some are lovely to work with.
The more glittery shades have been the weakest to me, as they can be sheerer or harder to apply. Sometimes, they are more pigmented and work like the other finishes in the formula, but often, they are sheerer and only function well patted on top of more pigmented eyeshadows to add glitter. They do, however, tend to have little fallout over time with the occasional shade having a more moderate amount of fallout (but still less fallout than most powder eyeshadows with glitter).

Twitterpated
ColourPop Twitterpated Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium pink with warmer undertones and flecks of gold and pink glitter. It had semi-sheer color payoff, which wasn’t too buildable (it tended to thicken and look chunky when I tried to build it up), and unfortunately, the brand didn’t describe this one as sheer. There was enough glitter in it that I could see some liking the sheerness as it could be patted on top of other similar-hued eyeshadows for a glittery effect. The texture was soft, yielding, and emollient with a “wet” feel to the touch. It did not go on as evenly as desired, which is why I think this one would only work for someone who wanted to layer it over other eyeshadows. On me, it still lasted well–10 hours–and had only minimal fallout over time.

Side Kick
ColourPop Side Kick Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium-dark copper with strong, warm yellow undertones and a glittery finish. It had nearly opaque coverage in a single layer, which applied evenly to bare skin. The texture was smooth, blendable, and felt a little wetter to the touch (which I find true for their more metallic/glittery shades), but I noticed it seemed to emphasize my lid texture a touch. The eyeshadow stayed on well for 10 hours without fading or creasing, and it seemed to have very minimal fallout.

Kennedy
ColourPop Kennedy Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium peach with warm, orange undertones and a satin finish. It had good color coverage in a single layer, though it was just shy of being full coverage. The consistency was smooth and more clay-like as it felt less wet to the touch and “drier” in a way, though it wasn’t actually dry or difficult to pickup on a brush nor was it a challenge to blend. It applied like a more matte powder eyeshadow and blended out nicely on my skin. It wore well for 10 hours on me without fading or creasing.

Side Kick looks quite lovely for summer! Which begins a bit too early in this part of the world…it is 82°F right now. Too soon!!!
I got Twitterrated –it’s really pretty but sheer, thought it would make a good sparkly topper or even a highlighter
Beautiful shades, but lots of dupes for each of them. Lovely eye look Christine.
The subtle shimmer in Kennedy is so pretty close-up!
I have strong feelings about I Like You. Really evokes the feelings of being out in the sun and something citrus in the air. So gorgeous!
I love these tones!! Sidekick is beautiful! thought Twitterpated looked pretty on the Colourpop website but you never can tell with their swatches and descriptions. I’m glad I held off on that purchase because it is definitely too sheer and I have UD X and Tarte Pop Rock so I’m covered with good dupes.
I Like You and Side Kick are really gorgeous. It’s nice to see some bright, sunny oranges.
