ColourPop Jinxie Super Shock Shadow
ColourPop Jinxie Super Shock Shadow

ColourPop Jinxie Super Shock Shadow ($6.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a light-medium gold with stronger, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had good pigmentation, though not fully opaque, that applied smoothly and evenly to bare skin. The texture was lightweight, emollient with a wetter feel to it than some of the other Super Shock Shadows, and blended out with ease. I used a flat, synthetic brush to apply it, and I didn’t have any issues doing so. The color wore well for ten hours before creasing faintly. Viseart Ceska (PiP, ) is lighter (95% similar). ColourPop Elixir Super Shock Shadow ($6.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium-dark, rusty orange with warm, red undertones and a satin finish. It had intense color payoff that applied well to bare skin, and it was smooth, blendable, and worked well with synthetic brushes. The color wore for ten hours and had no signs of fading or creasing. Coloured Raine Recharge (LE, $6.99) is lighter, warmer (95% similar). Danessa Myricks Rustic (P, $18.00) is warmer (95% similar). ColourPop Warm Over (PiP, $4.50) is cooler (95% similar). ColourPop Paradox Super Shock Shadow ($6.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a rich, medium-dark berry-red with subtle, warmer undertones with cooler-toned pearl. It had full-color coverage in a single stroke, but it seemed more prone to sheering out and losing its initial richness in practice. The color didn’t turn patchy, though, which was surprising. Like most of the brand’s eyeshadows, this too lasted for ten hours and still looked the same as it did when I initially applied it. MAC Currant Affair (P, $23.00) is less shimmery, cooler (90% similar). Too Faced Peach Sangria (PiP, $16.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). ColourPop Seeker Super Shock Shadow ($6.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium-dark, rich reddish-copper with hints of warm, brown undertones and a fine violet pearl. The color payoff was fully opaque, while the texture was smooth, lightly emollient but not wet or slippery, but still easily blended around the edges for a soft, diffused look. It was still going strong after ten hours of wear. Viseart Brick (Warm Mattes #12) (P, ) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). ColourPop Beverly (LE, $6.00) is cooler (90% similar). Huda Beauty Warm Browns #1 (PiP, ) is lighter, cooler (85% similar). Dior Blazing Gold #1 (LE, ) is more shimmery, lighter, warmer (85% similar). Disney by Sephora Thrilling Chase (LE, ) is lighter (85% similar). Urban Decay Gash (LE, $19.00) is more shimmery (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

ColourPop Stereo Super Shock Shadow ($6.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a blackened plum with warm undertones and a light, lighter plum sparkle over a pearly sheen. It was richly pigmented with a soft, spongy texture that was smooth, lightweight, and blendable. The color applied well to my lid using a flat, synthetic brush and wore for ten hours with no fading or creasing. This shade is a repromote. Too Faced Pop (PiP, $16.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Too Faced Black Forest Truffle (PiP, $16.00) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). Make Up For Ever #311 (DC, $20.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Dior House of Pinks #5 (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty About Last Night No. 19 (LE, ) is lighter, cooler (85% similar). Cle de Peau Silver Eclipse #2 (PiP, ) is more shimmery, lighter (85% similar). MAC Rare Find (LE, $21.00) is cooler (85% similar). Makeup Geek Sensuous (DC, $6.00) is lighter (90% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

ColourPop Tang Super Shock Shadow ($6.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a muted, medium mauvy purple with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a smooth, spongy texture that seemed a touch drier than other shades, but it wasn’t actually dry. The texture was also denser, and the color took more effort to blend out on the lid. I felt like it was harder to get an even layer of coverage, though it was not so noticeable from a normal viewing distance. The color itself wore for a solid ten hours with little evidence of change. Jouer Aubergine (PiP, ) is darker, more muted (90% similar). Natasha Denona Are (355CM) (LE, ) is lighter (90% similar). Sydney Grace Labyrinth (LE, $5.25) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Formula Overview

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is more like a cream-powder hybrid than traditional cream eyeshadow. If you touch it, the product feels more like a sponge or stiff mousse, as there is light give, but it doesn’t have the same emollient or thickness of traditional cream products. The texture is thinner and is manipulated on the skin more like a powder. The brand says that using fingertips yields the greatest pigmentation, and if you prefer, synthetic brushes, but I find synthetic brushes to work well for applying and still getting great pigmentation out of the majority of shades (typically the very glittery shades are ones where fingertips really do improve them).

As soon as I saw the initial swatches, I ran to the ColourPop website and ordered Paradox, Seeker, and Tang ( I already had Stereo from last fall). They came last week, and I am SO happy with the colors and quality 🙂 Paradox is such a unique and bold red, hard to dupe. And glad I held off on getting CP Beverly, because Seeker is much better quality. And Tang! Will pair perfectly with the dusty rose/plum shades of fall. I also have Silk in the KVD MetalMatte, but Tang is lighter, grayer, and more pink mauve, while Silk is darker, more rosy purplish mauve. Both are beautiful and will pair well together with Stereo and Brady. CP does NOT disappoint!

Uuuugh so beautiful. I bet Paradox would even make a decent blush. I recently decluttered about 1/2 of my ColourPop shadows. Couldn’t bring myself to toss them but I stowed them away. They’re such great products but the only ones I really reach for are the super sparkly ones because they are unique in my stash. Maybe I should start a mission to use them daily and see how many I can put dents in.

I’m glad these performed well, as I have most of them on their way here. Once I saw Paradox, I knew I had to get it, such an interesting and unusual colour. Since they don’t cost a fortune and getting the quartett made it even less costly, I decided to get it,and then I just filled up my order until it reached $50 to get free shipping.
I hope to be able to report getting the order in a Free for Haul post soonish.
Lovely look, as always!

Jinxie, Stereo, Seeker, Paradox — all yes; Elixir — probably. Ha, would have been faster to list the “no’s”. Nice how well they performed
