We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! My favorites: Pur Cosmetics Visionary palette and Night Fantasy palette. Bobbi Brown Lip Artist pencil in Harlow Red. Mascara combination of Dior Iconic Over-Curl, Lancome Hypnose Drama and Cover Girl Super Sizer in the waterproof formula. I know it is extra to use three mascaras but I have short, thin and pale lashes. I need all the help I can get. I thought about lash extensions for Europe but have seen a few people invest money in them to have them all fall off within a week and I don’t want to be one of them. So I will just keep working with this combo till now. Drunk Elephant Protini has been working well for me in helping to firm my skin a little. Last but not least is a scent, Republic Vanille Intense. I think of it more as a fall scent but started with a tester and fell in love with it and so I have been wearing it a lot this past month.

What didn’t impress: I didn’t try much new last month since I am on a no/low buy but when I went into the new Sephora in Missoula i picked up the Drunk Elephant C-Tango Eye Cream. It isn’t the product that bothers me. It seems to be doing okay although I still mix it with my Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic and Retinol Eye Gel and my NIOD Eye Concentrate. I love the packaging but the amount of product is a disappointment. I thought that I had maybe inadvertently picked up the tester but then realized that it was in the box so not a tester. Not sure if I will repurchase given the volume. Back in the spring Sephora sale I picked up the Drunk Elephant’s Little’s Kit and there were about 6 products in very small packaging and I thought I was going to go through them in a week and wouldn’t even get a feel for the products in that amount of time. Then I saw a girl on YT talk about using them the way the brand recommended which was to mix all the products together on the back of your hand and then go to the face and using that technique the samples would last for one month. I was skeptical but I have been using those same small amounts since the sale and just used up one of them this week. Anyway, I am disappointed in the C-Tango product amount.

Returns: I returned a couple of drug store foundations. Seems like a monthly things where I return my daughter’s foundations that just didn’t match. Such a pain that there are not samples available at the drug store although I know a few are starting to have testers. I took my daughter to Dillards to get color matched to the Lancome Teint Idole as I had seen many who really loved that foundation. I don’t think her color match is out there and then the store lighting is difficult to get a good match. The SA kept trying to sell her a shade that was too dark and too orange. My daughter said, “Please don’t make me orange!” So we ended up not picking anything up but took a tester of the shade she wanted my daughter to purchase. Out in natural light it was the shade of a few days old orange. Not an attractive shade.

New discoveries: Not really a new discovery but a change in how I use a product. It is no secret here on Temptalia that I have a setting spray and finishing powder problem. I can’t seem to pass any of them by and have a lot in my stash. I still love my MAC FIX+ and Cover FX Illuminating Setting Spray. Anyway, I spray my face after all skin care and before makeup. I usually spray again after foundation and powder application and then again at the end of my makeup application. I watched a Wayne Goss video the other day where he sprayed the mist into his hand and then added the foundation and then applied and he felt like that really locked the foundation into place and gave better coverage of the setting mist. I have been doing that for the past couple of days and actually think I see a difference in how my foundation wears.

I will be giving the setting mist and foundation tip a try, really having a problem with my makeup disappearing in patches by the end of the day, so frustrating!

What were your favorites from the last month? ColourPop Fame Eyeshadow Palette; Dior Backstage Cool Palette; MAC Single Eyeshadows in Kid and Coquette; Marc Jacobs Highliners in various shades; NARS Orgasm Blush; Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighter in Precious Petals; Chanel Coco Rouge Lipstick in Mademoiselle; Rouge D’Armani Lipstick in Kimono; ColourPop Lux Lipstick in Getty; and MAC Lipsticks in Modesty, Kinda Sexy, and Lady Danger.

What didn’t impress you? ColourPop Lux Lipstick in Cheetah. It looks dreadful on me. I love purples, like MAC Men Love Mystery, but I guess Cheetah is too cool-toned for me.

Did you return anything you purchased? I don’t remember returning anything.

Or successfully resist temptation? I resist tons of temptation every time I enter Ulta or Sephora or pass by a makeup counter in a department store. But at least I resist more often than I give in.

What were your favorites from the last month? LRP fluid sunscreen, Clinique’s Jenna’s Essentials quad and ABH Vermeer e/s, Givenchy fuchsia lipstick
What didn’t impress you? I’ve not been shopping much so can’t really think of anything, though I’m not wow’d by the new Chanel quads which you showed us all here, Christine
Did you return anything you purchase? nope
Or successfully resist temptation? constantly – my self-imposed purchasing restrictions have narrowed things down and the simple truth is that I honest won’t need any new makeup for probably 5 years!

What were your favorites from the last month? First and foremost, MAC x Aaliyah collection! Also, UD has been doing a FABULOUS job this summer between their Beached and Born To Run Collections. (what a ridiculously expensive month this was)

What didn’t impress you? Melt Stacks didn’t quite stack up to their somewhat rabid hype in some beauty forums. (pun intended)

Did you return anything you purchase? Fenty Profilt’r Foundation? Or was that last month? Can’t recall how long ago I did this and went back to Lancome. Same thing for Laura Mercier powder that I was told was the same thing as Hourglass Ambient Light Powder. No, it’s not, so back it went. Very pleased with Dim Light!

Or successfully resist temptation? No…not very well, I’m afraid. I literally bought almost everything from the Aaliyah collection, except for 2 pieces. Plus, doubles of 3 products for a loved one.

What were your favourites from the last month?
My favourite eyeshadow palettes from the past month have been the bareMinerals Soft and Smoky, the Playlist, Lorac Pro Metals and the old time standards of Naked 1 and Naked 2

What didn’t impress you?
There are still lots and lots of very warm toned palettes still coming out.

Did you return anything you purchase?
No

Or successfully resist temptation?
I didn’t resist the temptation to buy the Mecca Maxima Eyephoric Vivid eyeshadow palette that included the coveted soft plum shade. Very pretty
I also purchased the DB Velvet Matte foundation in porcelain ivory that I had been wanting to try for awhile and it is great value.
I also purchased a stack of EA lipsticks when they were on sale too and they are fabulous as usual. The Ginger Glaze Ceramide shade is divine.

That I didn’t buy: Colour Pop lipglosses; most of the Melt eyeshadow stacks; Dior Backstage neutral palettes

Or successfully resist temptation? Melt Gemini Palette

What were your favorites from the last month? ND Blush Palette, Colored Rain Queen of Hearts Palette
What didn’t impress you? my makeup is fading in patches by the end of the day. I use a primer and setting spray and haven’t run into this problem before, going to try mixing my foundation with my setting spray to see if this helpsl
Did you return anything you purchase? no
Or successfully resist temptation? I’m on a low/no buy so I’m killing it with no purchases in the last month.

The products I sent back were the Hourglass Vanish Stick Foundation (because the moment I got near it, I felt ill due to my very bad allergies to fragrances, including masking fragrance), Bare Minerals Original Foundation in Fair (way too dark for my skin tone, though it had the perfect neutral undertone. Was also way too dry and had no coverage to speak of. It also aggravated my allergies.), Bare Minerals Mineral Veil SPF25 (too dark and pink and aggravated allergies), Gabriel Cosmetics liquid concealer (can’t remember the exact name. Made me quite sick from the fragrance and was definitely too dark), Gabriel Cosmetics pressed powder foundation (cannot remember the exact name. Was also way too dark and made me very sick from fragrance). With the exception of a few lip colors that are fragranced solely with limonene, a natural essential oil that I am not allergic to, thank God, I can only use certain Bobbi Brown makeup. I can also use some other brow pencils and I adore my NARS loose setting powders, both the translucent one and the velvet one.
Needless to say, my entire makeup collection can fit in my normal-sized makeup bag. LOL Honestly, I’m really glad because I don’t want to have makeup that I can’t use (because my collection is too vast). I don’t have any new favorites. At some point I really want to get the relatively new Marc Jacobs lip gloss stick (can’t remember the exact name, but it’s a lip gloss in a stick. I’ll either get that or one of their regular lip glosses. I’m not sure which one is better. I won’t get both because I don’t want to buy something I don’t need. I’ll probably get one of their regular lip glosses because my Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint is just like a lip gloss in a stick, and I think I might be disappointed by the Marc Jacobs one. It might seem too similar and not very exciting. The Marc Jacobs regular glosses I would want to buy because I haven’t had a lip gloss in ages because they all made me ill. This is the first one I have ever seen that contains limonene as the scent. Hooray!!! I wonder what the best everyday neutral color would be!
