66

Urban Decay 66 Vice Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a medium-dark mauve with subtle, cool undertones and a satin finish. It was intensely pigmented with a smooth, velvety texture that glided easily across my lips evenly. The lipstick sat well on my lips and was comfortable to wear. It wore well for six hours and was lightly hydrating over time.

Formula Overview

$18.00/0.11 oz. - $163.64 Per Ounce

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.11 oz.) is available in six finishes, which are primarily distinguished by level of sheen, shimmer content, and coverage. I didn't notice any scent or taste. Mega Mattes are the thinnest and have the most “cling” as they are drier and more matte (but most are semi-matte and not a totally flat matte) and can be drying, though they are longer-wearing.

Comfort Mattes are creamier, a little denser, with richer color payoff on average (they are the most pigmented out of the finishes), and have a satin finish that is fairly comfortable to wear, usually lightly hydrating, and longer-wearing.

Creams are usually softer and creamier, though not too soft (they don’t mush or break from the base easily), with some being tackier and stiffer in the tube until they warm up against the lips; they have good color payoff, are hydrating, and are comfortable to wear but have more typical wear (four to six hours–six hours for deeper/richer shades like a red).

Sheers and Sheer Shimmers have a more balm-like consistency that feels a little thinner but is wetter/more emollient than Mega Mattes, so ultimately, they feel quite different applied; they have sheerer coverage, though more semi-sheer to semi-opaque than very sheer, and have the shortest wear time at two to fours with light hydration.

Metallized is the most shimmery of the finishes, though some of the other finishes have shades that are actually as shimmery (to me), but the Metallized formula has a thinner, more emollient base that isn’t as dense or as cream-like as the Creams; they feel more like the Sheers but a bit heavier and more pigmented (but seem to run semi-opaque to opaque, not always fully opaque) with average wear (four to five hours), light hydration.

Marfa

Urban Decay Marfa Vice Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a deep berry with cool undertones and a satin finish with soft pearl. It had semi-opaque pigmentation, which was hard to build up. The color was slightly stiffer in the tube, and while it deposited fairly evenly, I noticed splotchiness along the inner portion of my lips, which I couldn’t seem to fix. It wore well for over six hours but was slightly drying on me.

Ready

Urban Decay Ready Vice Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a medium-dark pink with warm undertones and a sparkling finish. It had medium coverage, that was slightly buildable but never to full coverage. There was some texture that I could feel as I applied it, though it wasn’t so gritty that it felt uncomfortable to wear. However, depending on your threshold for texture, it was most noticeable after three hours of wear (as the creaminess wore away). It had a more balm-like, emollient texture (and the resulting shine) with fairly even application. The color lasted well for four and a half hours and left a fain stain behind, while the formula was lightly hydrating.

An A+ rating grabs my attention every time!

66 is right up my alley, but I can’t justify buying another lipstick right now, and I already own more mauve lipsticks than a sane person should have.

(Well, except for Marc Jacobs One Mauve Time, but I’m working on resisting it.)

Emily Avatar

Why do you think the bullets on 66 and Marfa look like they just got out of the shower? I recently tossed a mini vice lipstick because it had visible powdery mold on the back side of the bullet. I wonder if that formula tends to run wet.

Grace Avatar

I’ve also noticed that my UD lipsticks (Revolution and Vice formulas) tend to grow mold significantly faster than any other brand I have, especially the reds. Christine’s pictures look like wax bloom, but during my last inventory check I had a few with the white fluffy mold I had to toss ?

Seraphine Avatar

“Wax bloom”—I learn all kinds new things on Temptalia! I’d never heard this term before, so I looked it up. I should probably check through my older lipsticks to make sure they’re ok.

Pami Avatar

They’re all pretty. 66 reminds me of my YSL Rose Stiletto, maybe a little darker. As much as I like UD’s lipsticks – and I have a LOT, that YSL feels the nicest and wears the best of any lipstick I’ve ever had!

Rosie Avatar

Hey guys it’s I’m fairly new here I’m Rosie in NYC now this my kinda color it’s really shimmery and very sexy my boo Mark (hey baby) would be like whoa Mama
I hate that it’s a limited edition item and Christine we have similar features we have warm skin and natural brunette hair but now I’m Auburn this is going to come home with me happy and safe holiday y’all from beauty junkie to another Rosie in NYC with love XOXO

Alison Avatar

I really want 66 but I already have ABH Dead Roses. I also think it looks pretty similar to Bite Beauty’s Mauvember from a couple years ago if I’m remembering correctly?

I’m sure I don’t need it. But I’m prob going to get it anyway. Lol.

Elizabeth Avatar

I’m loving 66. Today when I was checking out at Nordstrom the lady helping me complemented my lipstick several times. By the end of my transaction, I had shown her what it was online, and showed her mine I had in my purse. She wrote it all down and said she was going to get it too!

Rebecca Avatar

I adore the Vice lipstick formula and 66 is gorgeous, but I counted my makeup the other day and out of 20ish total lipsticks I own like a dozen mauves. I have a problem.

Qethia Avatar

I have Dead Roses also, but I really find the UD formula to be much less drying than the ABH matte l/s, of which I own several. IMO, 66 is much more comfortable to wear than Dead Roses. I must add that they are very close dupes, but between the two, 66 will get much more use from me.
