Stila Vivid & Vibrant Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eye Shadows Reviews & Swatches (Part 1)
Vivid Smoky Quartz
Stila Vivid Smoky Quartz Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow ($24.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a deep, golden bronze with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It was intensely pigmented and had a smooth, almost cream-like texture that was thin and fluid like a liquid eyeshadow would be, but there was a bit more of an airy feel to it, which made it the easiest shade to work with out of the six new shades for summer. The eyeshadow applied evenly to bare skin, blended out nicely, and set fast enough that it didn’t crease on me while drying down but I had enough time to work with the edges. It was still going strong after 10 hours of wear.

Formula Overview

The Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow formula is supposed to have "rich, beautiful color with a high shimmer sheen, minus the glitter" (compared to their Glitter & Glow range). The formula touts "non-tacky, non-transfer" wear with "minimal fallout." Some shades were easier to work with than others; typically the ones that weren't quite as watery and yielded more coverage with less product were the easiest to apply, diffuse the edges of, and wear. They lasted between eight and ten hours on me, and most did not have any fallout.

Vivid Amethyst
Stila Vivid Amethyst Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow ($24.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a light-medium purple with subtle, cool undertones and a metallic sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which was buildable to a degree, but I found that applying a second layer noticeably added texture to my lid so the skin appeared wrinkled and raised. The consistency of the liquid eyeshadow was smooth, wet, and cool as it went on but then it dried down fast enough not to crease but slow enough that I had enough time to diffuse the edges. It wore well for over 10 hours without fading or creasing.

Vivid Labradorite
Stila Vivid Labradorite Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow ($24.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a deep, smoldering gray with subtle, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, thin consistency that applied evenly to bare skin while still having edges that diffused and blended without too much difficulty. The formula was easier to work with than the average liquid eyeshadow, but it wasn’t as foolproof as working with a powder eyeshadow. The texture was very fluid, thin, but not watery or prone to getting into fine lines. It lasted well for 10 hours without fading or creasing on me.

Gorgeous eye looks! I might pick up all 3.
Thanks, Raeanne!
Wow, these are gorgeous! Labradorite reminds me of nail polishes like Essie’s For the Twill of It and others that were so popular a few years back. I’m definitely going to pick that one up! Thanks for the reviews!
These liquid eyeshadows definitely have the depth of polish!
I’ve been so excited to see swatches/reviews of these! Can’t wait for the others!
These eye looks are AMAZING, great job!
Thank you, Hollie!
WALLET DRAINERS!
first time I hear that term and yet so accurate…?
Thank you for your review—this is beautiful and I am glad it scored perfect!!
My pleasure, Jujubes!
I think Stila is back to its A game with these – stunningly beautiful shades, especially the smoky Quartz and the Labradorite.
They were lovely!
Wow, laboradite is really interesting. I’m definitely keeping my eye on these.
Christine, have you reviewed any Nudestix? It took me a long time to get into them (they seem like they’re going to be so boring!) but they’re actually really amazing.
Sorry, I don’t have anything from them.
Where ar thes being sold? I can’t find on Sephora or ulta?
They’re at Stila right now; I haven’t seen a date yet for anywhere else.
Wow. Admired these Stila liquids, but had no personal interest until labradorite. It’s a superb stone, and the e/s channels it quite well. All the looks are incredible, and I think these would be suitable for one and done as well.
Smokey Topaz and Labradorite look so rich and complex! I love that about them. And now that I’ve found a primer that can make liquid eyeshadows stay put, I may get one.
What primer did you find that works for you?
Hi Patricia, it’s Nyx Proof It! Waterproofing Eyeshadow Primer. So far, the only one that can hold up pretty well with my allergy tears.
I recently asked Stila about the possibility of a green shadow in the Glitter and Glow line and they told me to hold on a couple of weeks and then I saw they released a green with this release. So excited. Even if it reviews terribly I might still have to get it since I love my greens. These are all beautiful and I really like the formula that Stila developed. I don’t get any fallout and they wear beautifully. They look beautiful on you, Christine.
They’re beautiful (on the Stila site, I LOVE the vivid amethyst eye look they show!), but thankfully can all be duped in my enormous cream eyeshadow stash (these three, specifically, with GA ETK Pulp Fiction, Scarab Violetta, and #21… can’t remember the name). I’ve found that as much as I love these Stila shadows, I have to be very, very careful of the glitter/shimmer/sparkle, which has now gotten into my eyes and made me miserable two out of the four times I wore it. The only way I can use it is to dab it on with a detail brush exactly where I want it–and nowhere near any lash lines, which is disappointing because early in the release of these, you did some eye looks that showcased these shadows on your lower lash line, and they were so gorgeous I bought a slew just to try to copy them. BIG mistake for this contact wearer…!
Have you ever tried the Touch in Sol Metallist Liquid Foil & Glitter Eye Shadow Duo which are similar to both this formula and the Glitter and Glows?
Sorry, I don’t have that.
Smoky Quartz has my name written all over it. I hope Shoppers Drug Mart gets these and then I can get 20% off (they’ll be considerably pricier here).
Christine, did you have any staining problems with Amethyst? I was one of those dyed smurf Blue by the Glitter and Glow they had to pull from Sephora- Violet Vixen. I love these shadows but am terrified of another liquid purple because of that.
Nope, I didn’t!
Labradorite makes my heart hurt. So amazing. I like Smoky Quartz too, but I already have a half-dozen powder eyeshadows that look just like it.
