ColourPop Sashay, Trapeze, & Hi Striker Matte Lux Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Sashay
ColourPop Sashay Matte Lux Lipstick ($7.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium-dark burgundy with subtle, cool undertones and a satin finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that applied evenly across my lips, but I had some difficulty getting the color to adhere to my inner lip area (which wasn’t something that I experienced with other shades in the range). The texture had a touch more slip compared to other shades, too, but it didn’t slide around or feather during wear. It was lightweight and comfortable to wear over the six hours it lasted for. There was a slight stain left behind, and my lips felt neither dried out nor hydrated at the end.

Formula Overview
$7.00/0.12 oz. - $58.33 Per Ounce
The Matte Lux formula is supposed to have a "velvet matte" finish that's "long-wearing" with "intense pigmentation and a soft blurring finish." Most of the shades are quite pigmented with four to six hour wear and a non-drying feel. The texture varied a bit as some shades were smooth, velvety, and thin without emphasizing my lip lines or pulling into them but several separated along my lip lines noticeably or color settled into my lip lines over time. I didn't get much scent from them--possibly subtle sweetness--and no discernible taste.

Trapeze
ColourPop Trapeze Matte Lux Lipstick ($7.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark orange with warm, red undertones and a satin finish. The color coverage was opaque, while the texture felt lightly creamy, velvet-like as it was thin but not clingy or uneven in application. There was noticeable product in my lip lines from the get-go, and it did worsen as time went on. This shade wore well for five and a half hours and was non-drying to wear.

Hi Striker
ColourPop Hi Striker Matte Lux Lipstick ($7.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a deep red with cool, blue undertones and a satin finish. The pigmentation was good–not quite opaque–but applied evenly and smoothly across my lips. It had a lightweight, velvety texture that had enough creaminess to glide nicely along my lips but smoothed out my lip lines, too, without getting into them. The color stayed on well for six hours, left a faint stain behind, and was neither drying nor hydrating.

Hi Striker is just gorgeous! But I have a few dupes, so I can’t justify buying it.
Though I was hoping Sashay would perform better, I’m not too disappointed in it! I wonder why it wouldn’t adhere well in your inner lip area. Have you ever experienced that problem before with other lipsticks? If you have, is there a “solution” to this issue, like a lip primer? I wouldn’t want to rely on another product to make a lipstick work for me, but I realllllly love this color and every other aspect of it performed well!
B+ isn’t too terrible for such a deep, rich shade as this! So, yay for Sashay! Depending on how the dark burgundy in the Aaliyah collection does….this could be a “yes”.
The other 2 shades are splendid! But I’m all duped up in both. Trapeze is my favorite!
Stunning shades – love Sashay and Hi Striker the best. These are so beautiful and affordable.
