Bite Beauty Cancer Amuse Bouche Lipstick Review, Photos, Swatches
Cancer
Bite Beauty Cancer Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a muted, medium mauve with cooler undertones and an almost grayish overtone. The lipstick was noticeably warmer, more like a plummy-mauve on the exterior, but as soon as I swatched it, the interior was grayer and purpler. There were moments where it appeared grayer and other times when it seemed warmer. It had opaque pigmentation with a lightly creamy, smooth consistency that felt a little softer compared to most of the brand’s lipsticks. It wore well for five and a half hours and was hydrating.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is supposed to have “bold, creamy color” with “extreme moisture, soft texture, and creamy wear.” The majority of the range is very pigmented–typically opaque with one pass–with a few shades being semi-opaque but usually buildable.
The consistency is very lightly creamy to lightly creamy with some shades requiring light-medium pressure and can pull the lip a bit when gliding it across the lips, though the color doesn’t appear ragged and the bullet itself doesn’t feel stiff (while other shades applied without tugging, so check individual shade reviews!) The majority of the shades I’ve tested have been lightly hydrating to non-drying and fairly comfortable to wear for the long-haul. They have a herbal, lemony scent but no discernible taste. They wear longer than average, from four to eight hours, depending on the intensity and propensity of the shade to stain.

I’m so glad I swapped this into my cart for an Urban Decay lipstick I can pick up later. I missed out on my own sign Aquarius, and this looks exactly like I hoped it would. That A grade makes me happier I took the chance. Bite is usually pretty reliable though.
Hope you enjoy yours, Elizabeth!
That’s a lovely cool toned pink lippie!
It is a pretty shade! I wish it wasn’t as similar to their past shades, though.
Ordered it on the 22nd thrilled by your review!! Happy bday to me!
Happy birthday, Janine!
I picked this up. Quelle surprise. I missed out on Taurus. Mine reads warmer, but I have only applied once. I’m going to try again and compare with Madame Griege. My lipstick kryptonite is def this range, but owning a dozen or more similar shades doesn’t matter. I know the difference!
The shade made me feel like I was seeing things, because it sometimes looked quite grayish and other times pinker!
Griege and Cancer look almost identical on me. I did a second test w Cancer and on a half and half application, other than minor textural differences the colour appears pretty much identical. Doh.
I could see that occurring – they are close, and I feel like mauve is one of those annoying colors that can really look cooler or warmer depending on skintone, undertone, lighting, and angle… kind of like taupe and pewter.
If given a choice, I would prefer Taurus over this shade. Perhaps Bite will do that thing where, after they’ve issued all 12 shades, they’ll make all of them available for a time. By that time, I likely won’t be wanting any of them, though.
Love this color
I am torn on this one. I don’t know if this will look good on me or not.
Definitely see what you mean about it looker way cooler in the tube…that’s interesting
I might check this out. I really wanted to get Thistle before, but it was way too cool on me when I swatched it in person. Maybe this will work out better…though I’m tempted to wait and see what they do for my own sign lol
*looking, not looker
I’m actually quite disappointed in the color choice for July seeing that its a summer month. I would have hoped it was a warm pinky-neutral nude. I’m still searching for the perfect shade.
I was going to order this one, but cool mauve shades aren’t really great on me, so I’m glad I waited for this review 🙂
I like the look of this, but it definitely isn’t how it was described when it was first announced. It was touted as a “neutral pink” which this is far from (they’ve since updated their description on Sephora at least). It’s still nice, but it’s a lot ashier and grey in tone than I was expecting.
Yeah, it’s definitely not much as described… at least originally.
I’m surprised it’s so similar to Taurus!
I really love this color.
I love the color but they have sesame oil in their formula, so I have to be careful now that I’m allergic.
The fact that this color is so close to Taurus is highly suspect. Also miffed, as a cancer, that this one won’t look good on me. Pass!
I had the same experience with mine that you did! The outside color looks rosier and pinker but it looked soooo grey when I applied/swatched. Now I can see a difference on the bullet where the exterior is rosier, where I touched the lipstick it’s much greyer. It’s the strangest thing! It’s also a bit disappointing but I’m going to try and make it work with a lipliner.
