Hot Like

MAC Hot Like Lipstick ($18.50 for 0.10 oz.) is a brighter, medium red with neutral undertones and a natural sheen with faint pearl. It had nearly opaque color payoff in a single layer, which applied evenly on my lips and adhered well without emphasizing my lip lines. The lipstick was lightly creamy, lightweight, and comfortable to wear. The color wore well for six hours and was lightly hydrating while worn.

MAC Lipstick comes in a variety of finishes, and the pigmentation and wear tend to be dependent on the finish. The sheer finishes, like Lustres, tend to wear for only a couple of hours and have sheer coverage (as designed) and are non-drying.

Some of the original Matte shades have a stiffer, drier formula, while newer ones have a more velvety, silicone-feel to them, and the latter are creamier, more comfortable to wear, and easier to apply, but most Matte shades are quite pigmented and long-wearing, though some are drying.

The Amplified and Satin finishes tend to have good pigmentation, lightly creamy to moderately creamy consistencies with a bit of shine, and moderate to long wear with deeper, richer shades wearing longer. The Frost and Metallic finishes have the most variance between shades with coverage ranging from semi-sheer to opaque with average wear and non-drying to slightly drying formulas. All MAC lipsticks are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

More Than a Woman

MAC More Than a Woman Lipstick ($18.50 for 0.10 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark berry with subtle, cool undertones and a glossy sheen. It had good pigmentation–almost opaque–that applied evenly and smoothly across my lips without tugging on them. The consistency was lightweight, emollient without being too slippery, and felt lightly hydrating over time. This shade stayed on well for five and a half hours.

These 2 lipsticks are the only things in this collection that interest me but I have decided “no more lippies for me” until I finish up a few of the older ones I already have before they can go rancid. Otherwise, I’d be picking up at least one and possibly both of these.

Hi Christine! I have been meaning to comment or contact you and ask – why don’t you include the MAC lipstick formula in your reviews of them anymore? Like Lustre, Cremesheen, etc.? I have to go to another site to find that info. It just seems like the only thing your amazing reviews are missing. Or am I missing it? Maybe it’s because I’m on mobile but I can never find that info 🙂 thanks!

Hi Kristina,

I don’t list it reviews and haven’t for a very long time, because I use my own words to describe the finish, just like I don’t include their color descriptions and use my own words. This is to be consistent across all brands and reviews and avoid confusion as some were interpreting official descriptions as my words (even though they were in quotes) or were confused why I’d say the same thing twice or why I was contradicting myself.

The official launch post always includes MAC’s promotional language, which I post for each collection prior to reviewing it. https://www.temptalia.com/mac-x-aaliyah-collection-launches-june-20th-online/

Both lipsticks are gorgeous and wearable. I have 2 listed dupes for More Than A Million and need to check Hot Like Lipstick. Hard to resist a high rated lipstick from MAC!
