Tarte Color Vibes Eyeshadow Palette

Tarte Color Vibes Eyeshadow Palette ($46.00 for 1.32 oz.) includes 20 eyeshadows arranged into four combinations. I like how they separated the colors, as it gives you a good idea of how to start pairing colors together, but if you want to go rogue, there’s nothing stopping you either! It’s a mixed bag; some shades are nice, some shades are difficult to work with, and the rest are somewhere in the middle. I like that there’s a mix of warmer and cool(er) shades, and there is a nice mix of finishes and depths, so you can get a variety of looks out of the palette. I also liked that this was a much slimmer palette compared to Tarte’s other holiday offerings, which are housed in bulky containers, so this would work better for traveling and take up less room when stored. I wish, though, that the quality was more consistent. The formula felt a little less smooth and silky compared to the brand’s permanent palettes (like Tartelette) but was also less dusty/powdery, though I had similar issues with the colors fading faster than average.

Pixel is a light peachy beige with warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had good pigmentation with a soft, lightly dusty texture that was blendable and applied well to bare skin. Love Hue is a soft, light-medium brown with warm, orange undertones and a mostly matte finish, though there is a dusting of silvery sparkle, but it doesn’t bind with the base, so it has little impact on the finish. The texture was firmer, so it was hard to get pigment out of the pan, which resulted in medium coverage at best. It wore well for six hours before fading.
