Sneak Peek: Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks Photos & Swatches -- The Reds
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick
Here are swatches of the red shades in the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.11 oz.) range. That should be all 120, though if I missed grouping a few somehow, you can find all 120 shades in the Swatch Gallery.
Vice Lipstick is a new formula that will debut on June 5th (and it replaces all the Revolution formulas). It will have 120 shades total, with 20 of those shades exclusively available at Sephora (subsequently, Sephora will not have 20 shades–each retailer will have 100 shades in total). There are six finishes, and some you’ll recognize; Cream = the original Revolution formula, Comfort Matte = the Matte Revolution formula, and Sheer/Sheer Shimmer = the Sheer Revolution formula.
Ohhhhhh can’t wait!
Well F-Bomb and Bad Blood look the same to me. Gash looks so pretty as well. *_*
They look similar to the old formula to me too! Which is good news since I love both shades. If you mean similar in colour, they look different on me. F-Bomb is more of a true red while Bad Blood looks a lot darker on me. 🙂
I have both in the former revolution packaging and I think bad blood is a deeper toned than fbomb which is brighter in some light.
*compared to the original shades I should say. lol
hm … is my math off ? Why there are totally 119 of them … ?
vamp:6
beiges/peaches:11
browns:12
reds:18
corals/oranges:12
plums:18
fuchsias/berries:11
light pink:7
pink:13
purples:11
Or there are too many for my eyes to count … ? lol ~
Thanks 🙂
I addressed this above, knowing that I always make stupid mistakes and knew that I made last minute changes in groupings as I finished editing images 🙂 “That should be all 120, though if I missed grouping a few somehow, you can find all 120 shades in the Swatch Gallery.” I provided a link to the gallery where all 120 were as I did go through twice to make sure they were all there so hopefully it is still helpful for you 🙁
So, so sorry! I knew I would mess it up per usual!
Thanks so much for your work ! I can’t imagine grouping all 120 shades of lipsticks … I’d totally lost without your swatches ! Your website is THE swatch bible, thank you 🙂
Lol! I think you have coined it! The Swatch Bible
It’s super interesting that they kept some of the matching shades in the sheer finishes, I’m not a fan of them but I appreciate that they kept them an option… Also, can we just take a moment to celebrate Mrs. Mia Wallace becoming a permanent shade? So excited! 😀
So much to choose from here. I love Gash and Mrs. Mia Wallace and one other (now that I’ve scrolled down to post my message, I forget the name!)
Great job getting all the previews up so fast! I am pleased with that there was only like 4 lipsticks that I thought “might get that” because it would be bad if I was like “must have all 120”. I would also totally get the Perversion lipstick if it wasn’t for the fact that I would never wear it. I thought it looked great. But I am not getting a lipstick that I will never wear.
I am thrilled that they made the Gwen Stefani shades and Mrs. Mia Wallace permanent! I need Psycho in my life (I already have enough psychos…).
I’m in the same boat as you, Rachel! I’m so glad they chose to make limited edition shades permanent, now we don’t have to use them sparingly! 😛
I missed out on Mrs. Mia Wallace when it was released a few years go (got the eyeshadow palette, though!) so it will probably be the first one I buy (and I sure hope it’s one of the shades Sephora does get!).
Psycho will be mine.
The swatch gallery link.. Killer as always!!! Looks like there are 2 must haves for me: Oblivion and Studded. I have narrowed down to 7 in total, but I’m confident I have dupes for some of my other picks so can prune from the list as needed.
Adding Wrath and Cruel to my growing “check out in person” list. Thanks so much Christine!
No Catfight?! How could leave out Catfight?! Unless I missed it? Hoping one of the new shades is a dupe and it’s just been renamed. It’s my all time favourite shade ever. Revlon Cherries in the Snow is a pretty good dupe colour wise but it’s not the same formula. *cries*
I have Catfight and a back-up so thankful I bought them when I did!!! I didn’t see it here either but maybe just missed it? It is a great color. I also have Cherries In The Snow but like you I don’t like it as much. Something just a little different in the formula as well as the color. I hope you have Catfight already?
I do have Catfight but if I knew it was leaving forever I would have bought several backups!
When Christine reviewed Wonderland for the GS collection, it came up as a near identical, to identical dupe. I believe it’s just been renamed. That said, I LOVE the old name! Because CATS!
Thanks for letting me know! I’ll check out the review now. For some reason I wasn’t really interested in the GS collection so I pretty much skipped over the reviews. Guess it’s just because I own so many reds and none of those really stood out to me.
I’m sad to see Catfight leave as well! The shade “Wonderland” looks the closest, it’s not as cool toned though. RIP Catfight! 🙁
Interesting – Catfight is one of the few products I’ve every returned! It was such a disappointment compared with the other UD lipsticks I bought from the Revolution line. But I thought it was shown in the new “iteration” – maybe in the pinks or purples? (or am I imagining having just seen it recently?)
Yep, I’m all stocked up on psychos in mine, too, so I have GOT to have that one, as well! Haha ?
This one on Psycho landed here, but it was a reply to Rachel R. above! Idk what happened?
I know, right? Why leave Catfight out??
It’s deeper than Wonderland, but not as red as 69, so I don’t think there’s an exact dupe in the new formula. Buy backups while you can, right now Macy’s and Ulta still have it, for $11.
Thanks! I thought they were all sold out already! Even if Wonderland ends up being Catfight renamed, I’m still going to get backups because you never know!
I thought the same! Catfight was my fave from the previous line-up. I thing lancome Rouge in love in Midnight rose is a nice dupe and i love the formula. Personally i love cherries in the snow more for everydaywear than catfight but for events/nightout you couldn’t beat the UD formula. I think perhaps Psycho could work as a dupe also
I was really surprised too, especially with all the promotion they did for that shade specifically when it first launched.
So many choices! I’ve never tried a UD lipstick before, but now is a great time to try.
Psycho, Doubt and Cruel are on my “for sure buying” list and probably Mrs. Mia Wallace. I fear I will need another lipstick storage system after this round of buying! I currently have one that holds 120 which is pretty much my fuchsia’s and berries collection and now with reds, plums and browns I will need something about the same size. Really does one woman need this many lipsticks? The answer is no but I just can’t pass by a beautiful color in a shiny new tube. My husband will comment every once in awhile about a color being the same as another one I have and then I will swatch a couple for him and show him that they really are different and he is always amazed that they are different! After all the lipsticks made in the world there are very few that are exactly the same, same color, formula, finish. He doesn’t really care though. He collects vinyl record albums and so can’t say very much to me about my makeup obsession. The good thing is that my makeup takes up less room than his albums!
So happy to see the Gwen Stefani shades!!! ?
So many reds! Looks like Gash is still going to be my favorite. I still have the original version, and I just took advantage of the sale, so I won’t be buying any new lipstick for a while.
Really good looking reds but I have so many reds and Do not wear them.
So I think wishlist + only one, wonderland
You are providing a service to the community and I have no idea how you still have lips left after all that swatching! How long did that take??
2 days!
YAAAAY!!! Gash is back! And Wonderland is permanent! I now believe that THIS is the replacement for Catfight. Must have Wrath and Spiderweb, too!
What was Urban Decay thinking?! Don’t they know we’ve gotta catch’em all?! What are they doooooing to us. I wanted like 90% of the swatched reds. Agh!
These are all stunning, but a lot of these look alike. It would be funny if 3 of these were listed as dupes for each other!
Thank you! So many of these look identical I was worried there might be something wrong with my eyes or my monitor. I wonder if it’s because of the Sephora exclusives- to make up for the gaps?
Happy Gash will be perm!
Serious questions from a lipstick lover here: How do you manage to change so many lip colors without (1) disturbing the rest of your makeup, (2) leaving behind any stain that conflicts with the next swatch, or (3) drying out your lovely lips? And (4) how in the world do you make it look like perfect lip liner with every color???
Just be careful removing, and you always order them in such a way that the ones that stain are last – and you always do sheer shades first. If something stains a little, but all the rest are totally opaque, then it won’t be an issue (experience has taught me this, since I have tried and experimented over the years). I am not wearing them for an hour between shots, so any staining that occurs is really, really faint. My swatches are very far from perfect, and the lines are not crisp at all! Hope that helps! 🙂
69 is the best! I bought the revolution version as it was half off and I’m so in love with the color!
omg i want every single lipstick 🙂
I have Sheer F-Bomb. But I don’t wear it often (enough)…
It may be annoying of me to ask this given you reviewed those lipsticks many many moons ago but do you think any of these are close to port red or queen’s sin from MAC? :/
Sad to see no muted shades in this group! A lot of them look really similar as well. I might consider Sheer F-Bomb since my face/lips don’t get along with opaque reds.
I love them all, especially the Vice shades because I love shimmery lipsticks. They all look good on you Christine 🙂
