Viseart Chroma Theory Palette

Viseart Chroma Theory Palette ($45.00 for 0.42 oz.) is a subdued set of neutral tones with three matte and three metallic eyeshadows. The Theory palettes are housed in smooth cardboard that open up with a ribbon-esque pull-tab and reveal the six pans held in a plastic container. Each pan is 0.07 oz., which is the same size as the larger 12-pan Viseart palettes; the Theory palettes are slightly more expensive at $45 (compared to $80) , which works out to be $107.14/oz. for the Theory palette eyeshadows vs. $95.24/oz. for the 12-pan palette eyeshadows. The Theory palettes are more cohesive as all-in-one palettes as the finishes and tone vary more than the larger palettes (which were designed to be used with other palettes). The pans are removable and seem held in by magnet, but there are no labels on the bottom, so you might want to DIY labels. It’s a slightly warmer take on a smoky eye with more taupe-like grays than silver-like grays, but you have the very cool-toned white shade that can be used to lighten and give a cooler cast when mixed or layered with other shades.

Chroma #1 is a bright white with strong, cool, blue undertones paired with a matte finish. It had semi-opaque coverage and was very soft and finely-milled but ran a touch on the powdery side. It blended out easily, though. On me, the color lasted for eight hours. Inglot #318 (P, $6.00) is brighter (95% similar). Urban Decay Hey-o (P, $26.00) is lighter, warmer (95% similar). Sephora Daisy's My BFF (LE, ) is darker (95% similar). Inglot #373 (P, $6.00) is warmer (95% similar). Sephora Porcelain (LE, ) is warmer (95% similar). Chroma #2 is a dark brown with warm undertones and a hint of gray on top paired with a semi-matte finish. The pigmentation was mostly opaque, while the consistency was soft, smooth, not too firm or too powdery, and easy to work with on the skin. It wore well for nine hours before fading noticeably. Viseart Cashmere #3 (PiP, ) is darker (95% similar). Too Faced Knockout (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Guerlain Les Cendres #3 (LE, ) is more muted (95% similar). Chroma #3 is a deep black with neutral-to-warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It was richly pigmented, and a little went a long way, but luckily, the texture was blendable and forgiving. The eyeshadow had a good balance so that it wasn’t so soft that it became powdery, but it was so firm that it was hard to blend or apply. The color lasted for eight and a half hours. Milani Bella Black (12) (P, $4.49)(100% similar). NARS Filbuste (P, $28.00)(100% similar). L'Oreal Noir C'est Noir (P, $5.99)(100% similar). City Color Black Widow (P, $6.99)(100% similar). Chroma #4 is a light-medium, golden beige with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had nice color payoff with a very soft, smooth, and blendable texture that ran a little loose but didn’t have fall out or lack pigment when applied (sometimes looser powders instantly sheer out). It wore well for eight and a half hours on me. theBalm #19 (P, $6.50) is darker (95% similar). ColourPop Babydoll (PiP, $4.50) is cooler (95% similar). Oh, I like this better than the Kat von D grey palette! Very tempted to get this, I only have one dupe for one of the shades! On a no-buy at the mo (again!) but I do indeed have plans and a wishlist! Just wish I could have taken advantage of the sales lately, oh well, I’ll wait for the autumn sales.

Yep, I’m definitely in for this palette. Only minor complaint: I wish the dark brown was much cooler. That hint of grey on top had me thinking it was. Your eye look is definitely in line with my tastes too.

The Zoeva smoky palette I hauled a week or so ago has a gorgeous matte cool dark brown so I’m not completely bummed about this one running warmer.

So lovely that I caved yesterday and bought both Chroma and Cashmere. I kept waiting for Sephora to get the Theory palettes during the VIB Rouge sale but at this point, I was tired of waiting so I placed an order at Muse. Great to see the stellar reviews but I’m not surprised since I have several other Viseart palettes.

This is gorgeous but I think if I’m only going to spring for one of these, it would Cashmere (I see there are a few shades in this and in Cashmere that are pretty similar to one another). I guess because the last thing I need is another BLACK matte eyeshadow, Cashmere is just a better bet.

This is the one that has shades I have the least dupes for, but it’s also the one most likely to look muddy on me. I’m going to pass on this one for sure. I love the other two and could wear them, but I have at least one dupe for each shade. I really want to try Viseart, and I still LOVE Minx, but I may have to wait and see if they put out more of these in more unique color schemes. Wallet happy; makeup lover sad.

Viseart has a new palette called Ribbons Boheme that looks really unique! All metallics in eye-popping neon bright colors, 12 shades for $80. I was hoping they would do it in a smaller 6 pan format, to make it more affordable, but maybe they will in the future.

LOL, I saw Ribbons Boheme and immediately thought “that has Rachel R.’s name all over it!” Wow, didn’t realize it was LE. If you do get it, can you let me know what you think? Thanks!

I really thought this would be the “must have” but oddly Cashmere is the one calling to me. They are all beautiful though. Thanks so much for your amazing reviews! 🙂

I’m a little confused. On Sephora it says the palettes have 6 eyeshadows that are 0.13 oz each, which is 0.78 oz, but your palette clearly says 0.42 oz total on the back. Am I missing something? The back says professional preview so does that mean the one you have is a sample? I love your swatches and eye looks by the way!
