NARS Do Not Disturb Lip Cover
NARS Lip Cover ($28.00 for 0.28 fl. oz.) is a new, limited edition formula that is supposed to have “rich and lustrous” color with shine. They are a liquid lipstick, but they are not the type that dry down to a fully flat, transfer-free finish. They stay emollient and can slide around, and they transfer a lot–but they are also pretty pigmented so despite color being left on coffee cups and the like, a lot of hangs around. They’re comfortable to wear, lightly hydrating, but they wear no longer than four to five hours. There was no discernible scent or taste to the formula. I didn’t have issues with the color feathering or bleeding on me, but the formula definitely has the slip that may make it a possibility for those who tend to experience that with their lip products!
NARS Do Not Disturb Lip Cover ($28.00 for 0.28 fl. oz.) is described as a “vivid orange-red.” It’s a bold, bright, medium-dark red-orange with warm undertones and a moderate shine. It had rich, opaque coverage, and the consistency was lightweight, spreadable, and applied with even coverage. The color lasted for five hours and left only the barest stain behind. Maybelline Neon Red (DC, $7.99) is warmer (95% similar). Guerlain Gilda (DC, $58.00) is darker (95% similar). Bite Beauty Grandifolia (LE, $28.00) is brighter (95% similar). Buxom Rogue (DC, $21.00) is lighter, warmer (95% similar). Bite Beauty Cayenne (DC, $26.00) is more muted, less glossy (90% similar). Urban Decay EZ (DC, $18.00) is lighter (90% similar). Estee Lauder Carnal (P, $32.00) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). Bite Beauty Rosehip (DC, $24.00) is darker, cooler, less glossy (90% similar). Maybelline Orange Edge (DC, $7.99) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). Ardency Inn Original Mix (P, $23.00) is brighter, glossier (90% similar). NARS Annabella (P, $34.00) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). Givenchy Carmin Escarpin (306) (P, $36.00) is warmer (90% similar). Bite Beauty Candied Maple (LE, $24.00) is darker, less glossy (90% similar). Chanel Fiction (222) (P, $37.00) is more muted, cooler (90% similar). NARS Carmen (P, $34.00) is brighter, glossier (90% similar). NARS Future Red (LE, $26.00) is darker (90% similar). Bite Beauty Mimosa (DC, $24.00) is more muted, less glossy (90% similar). Givenchy Heroic Red (321) (LE, $36.00) is darker, more muted, cooler (90% similar). Shiseido Ginza Red (222) (P, $26.00) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (90% similar). NARS Rita (P, $34.00) is lighter, brighter, warmer (85% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
NARS Members Only Lip Cover ($28.00 for 0.28 fl. oz.) is described as a “crimson.” It’s a medium-dark red with cool, bluish undertones and a natural sheen. It was intensely pigmented with full color coverage that went on evenly and smoothly without emphasizing lip lines or appearing streaky. The color stayed on well for four and a half hours and was lightly hydrating while worn. I didn’t experience any feathering/bleeding, but those are not things I experience frequently, but with the more emollient texture, it could be an issue for some. Urban Decay No-Tell Motel (DC, $18.00) is lighter (95% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Neo-Noir (126) (DC, $30.00) is lighter, brighter (95% similar). NARS Deadly Catch (LE, $26.00) is darker, more muted (95% similar). Bite Beauty Pomegranate (DC, $24.00) is cooler (95% similar). Edward Bess Eternal Passion (P, $32.00) is more muted, less pigmented (95% similar). Urban Decay 69 (DC, $22.00) is cooler (95% similar). Guerlain Rouge Parade (820) (DC, $58.00) is lighter, brighter (95% similar). Tom Ford Beauty No Vacancy (P, $54.00) is glossier (90% similar). Revlon Fire & Ice (P, $8.49) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Sephora Popsicle Lips (28) (P, $8.00) is more muted, cooler (90% similar). Bite Beauty Fraise (DC, $24.00) is lighter (90% similar). Bite Beauty Pomegranate (DC, $24.00) is darker, more muted, cooler (90% similar). Bite Beauty Negroni (P, $24.00) is cooler, less glossy (90% similar). Maybelline On Fire Red (DC, $7.99) is lighter, brighter, cooler (90% similar). MAC Stunner (LE, $19.00) is darker, more muted, less glossy (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Sonja (LE, $36.00) is less shimmery, cooler (90% similar). Too Faced Melted Ruby (P, $21.00) is lighter, brighter, glossier (90% similar). Fenty Beauty Hot Blooded (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery, lighter, cooler (90% similar). Smashbox Bad Apple (P, $24.00) is darker, glossier (90% similar). Bite Beauty Gazpacho (DC, $26.00) is darker, more muted, less glossy (90% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. Is the slip on this comparable to too faced’s melted?
A little less slip.
I am not sure if having a transferrable liquid lipstick really makes sense? But then all the rest of the lipsticks are transferrable anyway! Somehow, with liquid lipsticks I imagine them to be very tattoo like! 😛 I love these colors on you Christine 🙂 Are there more colors in the range?
They released four shades.
I love the look of these! I’m a big fan of liquid lipsticks since they tend to work better on my dry lips. Well, most do apart from the ones that dry matte. I do love a good bold lip!
Have you tried the Shiseido Lacquer Rouge liquid lipsticks? They are my favourite. If so how do these ones compare? If not it doesn’t matter! ?
I don’t think I have reviewed those – sorry!
Wow, I really like those! I love the packaging, shame it’s not repeated on the actual makeup product.
I agree! Would have been killer on the packaging itself.
Both are very pretty on you, but I do love that hint of orange in Do Not Disturb!
Thanks!
These are SO pretty! I don’t think I will want any of these reds, but I do definitely want one or both of the nudes which are being released! Do you have any update/idea on when the release will be for everywhere? I ask because Saks seems to have them online already but it says they will be shipping from stores, and I don’t even think stores have them yet!
Sorry, Sabrina, they only gave me April 15th for NARS’ boutiques/their site. I would imagine in a week or two after that, but I don’t have that information.
So, is this formula similar to CP satin lips?
I wish he would have extended the graphics on the box to the actual packaging only with a clear background The black is kinda blah for Summer. Plus, you can’t tell what’s left in your product or what you are getting. That is irking me a bit on these.
Other than that, I like them! I’m sure I’ll get at least a couple of these depending on how the nudes do. 🙂
Nope, not at all, IMO, as these just feel like… liquid lipstick. They slide around, move, never set! The Ultra Satins have some transfer but definitely “set” in place.
Wow, these pack a punch! Love your look, the bright color really lights up the whole face
Thanks, Katherine!
4-5 hours wear, emollient, comfy , non-feathering ( for most), and such richly pigmented colors, all make this formula something I am definitely into! Probably not in these two very gorgeous shades though for me, due to having too many dupes for these shade. But I love how they look!
I’m eager to hear if others have any issues with feathering once they officially release!
I’m glad the formula is successful, I really like them both but Members only would be a better pick for me.
Me too!
Love the boxes, and the Lip Covers look very plush!
(Oops I see my previous posts have been posting as Pam instead of Pami! Darn auto-fill!
There is another Pam that posts here sometimes – hence Pami for moi…)
They are comfortable!
These are so stunning, but with 12 hour work days I stick to matte or satin matte finishes these days, so it’s a pass for me.
That totally makes sense!
Christine, how do these compare to the Giorgio Armani Lip Maestros?
It’s a different type of texture altogether! Lip Maestro hugs a lot more and is creamier, less slip/watery.
I was scrolling through to the pictures and I was like “Holy pigment” lol Do Not Disturb looks great on you!
Thanks, Brian!
These are just so awesome!
Glad ya liked ’em!
These almost seem like they’re right in between a really pigmented lip gloss and a liquid lipstick. I’m not sure what to make of them. If I get over this virus soon enough, I’ll try to see and swatch in person to satisgy my curiosity. I think the colors are gorgeous, and I’m glad to see the shiny finish after such a long run of matte lips being so ubiquitous.
I think that’s a good way to put them!
These are pretty. I just love the packaging too, makes me want to be on a boat!
