Urban Decay Razor Sharp Liquid Eyeliner Review, Photos, Swatches (Part 2)
Urban Decay 24/7 Razor Sharp Liquid Eyeliner
Urban Decay 24/7 Razor Sharp Liquid Eyeliner ($22.0000 for 0.07 fl. oz.) is supposed to be a water-resistant, long-wearing, “intensely pigmented” liquid liner with an ultra-precise (thin) applicator. There are cream shades and metallic shades; the cream ones have a shiny finish (so none dry matte), while the metallic ones have a more pearly sheen. They require 20-30 seconds worth of shaking, or else you’ll end up with a more watery, sheerer consistency that is hard to work with. If shaken for long enough, everything mixes and most shades are semi-opaque to opaque and thin without feeling watered down, but it is a very wet, thin formula that takes 15-30 seconds to dry down (depends on the shade–metallics dried faster for me, on the whole). Once it dries down, it does seem to shrink slightly and I can feel it cling to my skin a bit. The applicator is thin and flexible enough to maneuver around the curve of the lid. Something that was somewhat frustrating is that the formula is so thin and wet that I do get some splattering when I open shades as well as when I apply (like a dot or two randomly on face).
These remove pretty easily with just water and a light rub, but they don’t come off just rubbing with a dry fingertip at all, so removing those spots requires real makeup remover or a dampened brush/cotton swab. During removal, the eyeliner flakes off in small chunks.. If I just sprayed the eyeliner with water and lightly dab or blot (or even just let the water evaporate), they didn’t smudge, fade, or run. I didn’t have any issues with the wear of them–they all went for a full 10-hours before I removed.
Urban Decay Bump 24/7 Razor Sharp Liquid Eyeliner ($22.0000 for 0.07 fl. oz.) is a bright white with a satiny sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in one stroke, which applied fairly fluidly and didn’t skip. In order to get truly opaque coverage, a second layer is needed, but be sure to wait until the first layer dries down. It lasted for ten hours on me. NARS Santa Monica Blvd. (P, $24.00) is brighter, cooler (95% similar). ColourPop Exit (DC, $7.00) is cooler (95% similar). Stila Alpine (P, $22.00) is warmer (95% similar). Urban Decay Cuff 24/7 Razor Sharp Liquid Eyeliner ($22.0000 for 0.07 fl. oz.) is a bright silver with a metallic sheen. It had semi-sheer color coverage, even after I spent a good bit of time shaking up the tube; on the best application, I was able to get semi-opaque coverage, but three of the four times I tried swatching for better coverage, it was just semi-sheer. If you want to layer this for true opacity, just make sure to let the first layer dry. MAC Statuesque (LE, $22.00) is more shimmery, warmer (90% similar). L'Oreal Silver Sky (290) (P, $8.99) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). ColourPop Kicker (P, $7.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). MAC Misty Me (P, $25.00) is lighter (90% similar). Urban Decay Revolver 24/7 Razor Sharp Liquid Eyeliner ($22.0000 for 0.07 fl. oz.) is a dark gray with silver and teal shimmer. It had semi-sheer color payoff in one pass (and I did shake it up for about 20 seconds), and it didn’t improve even after opening/closing the product over the course of a week to see if it would dry out any. The texture was thinner, somewhat runny and watery, and it was harder to control. Once on, the liner locked on for ten hours without issue. Chanel Nero Vulcanico (939) (P, $34.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). MAC Little Black Bow (DC, $16.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Urban Decay Perversion 24/7 Razor Sharp Liquid Eyeliner ($22.0000 for 0.07 fl. oz.) is a deep, dark black with a satin sheen. It was intensely pigmented with a fluid, smooth consistency that wasn’t too thick or too thin, though it is thinner than the average eyeliner from my experience. It lasted for ten hours on me. Natasha Denona Black (P, $26.00)(100% similar). Too Faced Perfect Black (PiP, $18.00) is less glossy (95% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Deeper (01) (P, $55.00) is warmer (95% similar). Zoeva Black to Earth (P, $7.50) is more shimmery, less glossy (95% similar). Urban Decay Perversion (P, $20.00) is warmer (95% similar). MAC Definitely Black (P, $20.00) is less glossy (95% similar). Bobbi Brown Really Black (LE, $24.00) is warmer (95% similar). MAC Point Black (P, $25.00) is less glossy (95% similar). Urban Decay Perversion (P, $22.00) is less glossy (95% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Blacquer (P, $30.00) is warmer (95% similar). Too Faced Black (PiP, $20.00) is glossier (95% similar). Giorgio Armani Black (01) (P, $28.00) is less glossy (95% similar). Urban Decay Goldrush 24/7 Razor Sharp Liquid Eyeliner ($22.0000 for 0.07 fl. oz.) is a medium, yellowy gold with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. After swatching this five times, it seemed to thicken and become more pigmented, but the first four times, it was always semi-sheer, so it may be like some mascaras where after some use, it dries out and actually is better. MAC $$$ (P, $17.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). MAC Brassy (P, $16.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Chanel Vegas Gold (LE, $28.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Urban Decay Snakebite 24/7 Razor Sharp Liquid Eyeliner ($22.0000 for 0.07 fl. oz.) is a medium-dark brown with gold and bronze pearl. It had semi-opaque coverage initially, which you could layer if you made sure to let the initial layer dry down and get opaque coverage. The liquid eyeliner did apply smoothly and evenly, though, and it still went for a full 10 hours without budging on me. Urban Decay Smog (P, $22.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). MAC Bountiful Brown (P, $16.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). ColourPop Lost Girl (LE, $5.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). This is disappointing. I love UD’s old liquid liner formula and I mourned their being discontinued. I had such high hopes for the new liquid liner and it looks so bad. When my old UD liners and the last little bit of my Stila shimmer liners dry up, I will be so bummed.
Some of them are really nice in the new formula, but it seems like the watery aspect of it can make it difficult to get it mixed just right. 🙁
These make me sad 🙁 The colors are so pretty (love Revolver & Snakebite), but UD just launched them without perfecting the formula. I mean who wants runny, watery liquid liners that you have to apply over and over again to get an opaque line?
Totally understand! What’s problematic is really that even when they are good, you have to be careful about the mixing/shaking as I feel like it can be hard to get consistent results otherwise.
I’m kinda upset to see their “reformulated” liquid liner. I was a huge fan of the previous formulation (the one in slim colorful tube, not the stubby genie bottle-esque one), it was more pigmented and this “Razor Sharp” one is more like streaky mess in my opinion.
Even the old one in the stubby bottle looks more even & pigmented compared to this liners, although that one smears like nobody’s business, though….
Sheesh… if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it guys! 🙁
Some shades are nice, some shades are definite misses!
I’m pretty stunned and disappointed by how sheer and finicky these liners are. I mean, it’s not as if UD hasn’t produced some pretty great liquid liners in the past. The ones they released 5 years ago were great. I still have one in the color Sabbath and the pigmentation is crazy good and it wears pretty well too. Why on earth would they ditch that formula for this one?
I’m not sure! I know the packaging change was because there were issues in the prior tube at least, but this formula seems much more watery overall.
Too bad the quality is so all over the place because I do love the colors.
Aww!
The previous version of liquid liner by UD, the 24/7, were one of my favorite formulas, so I’m glad to see that at least the black Perversion is great quality!
It is funny – Perversion is definitely the richest and easiest to use; I did not feel like I had to be very careful to shake for prolonged period of time to ensure good results!
Perversion and Snakebite looks good but the rest are horrible. I’ve seen better quality for way cheaper.
I was surprised some of these weren’t more pigmented!
These are so disappointing, aside from Perversion. I really love the color or Revolver, but the coverage is awful.
Perversion is a winner!
These are just underwhelming for me. The packaging looks really sleek but the shades are just kind of yawn. To be fair I’m usually more of a gel/pen kinda gal but the formula looks lacking especially compared to their old line. Easy pass 🙂
Money saved!
I love all of these colors, but the formula quality seems a bit inconsistent, so I’m not sure if I’d purchase. Perversion is really cool, though.
It is inconsistent, and I think using it can be inconsistent, but my hope is the formula gets less watery after a few uses.
I really like the look of Snakebite, I’m sad about Revolver, Cuff and Gold Rush. Such nice colours but so patchy!
Agreed 🙁
Bummer about Revolver and Cuff! Those could have been some wonderfully eye brightening liners, even if just as an accent liner.
Snakeskin isn’t bad, though! Doubtful that I will go back to liquid after getting into gel and gel pencils, though Snakeskin is awfully pretty. ?
Revolver had such potential!
Dam it, Revolver! I wanted you soo badly!
Aww!
Wow, Snakebite looks amazing! I didn’t think I needed any more liquid eyeliners but I was wrong <3
Enjoy, Floz!

Oh, UD. Never change.
Yep!
Well these are pretty much all a bummer. Some are such cool shades too, it’s pretty disappointing they couldn’t do better on the formula. These are for sure a pass for me. I’m glad I have the full collection of their previous liquid liners. I’d also love it if you reviewed NYX’s vivid brights Liquid liners!
I wish they were easier to use!
Well, Perversion looks great…
There’s thinking positively! 🙂
It’s really a mixed bag here – either really good or really horrible. I think there are better ones around. They look too watery and messy to apply. A miss I think.
Well-said, Genevieve! It does seem hit or miss by shade.
Perversion looks really good. I also like Snakebite. Its really a pity the formula seems to be all over the place as there are so many interesting colours. But to be honest I almost only use black eyeliners, though having some colour ones for a change is fun.
Perversion is very rich in color!
This is a serious miss for them as a brand considering how great the original formula was.
I wish they were more consistent!
I’m so glad that Bump received a decent score! There are so few good white liquid liners on the market.
I would consider getting the Perversion and maybe a brown to avoid floating eyelashes on those days but I might consider something less expensive considering how often they would be used. I prefer pencils in general.
What a letdown! I was really feeling the urge for Revolver but now I will definitely pass! There need to be more “gunmetal” shades that are actually bold. Ugh.
