Editor's Review

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.11 oz.) is available in six finishes, which are primarily distinguished by level of sheen, shimmer content, and coverage. I didn't notice any scent or taste. Mega Mattes are the thinnest and have the most “cling” as they are drier and more matte (but most are semi-matte and not a totally flat matte) and can be drying, though they are longer-wearing.

Comfort Mattes are creamier, a little denser, with richer color payoff on average (they are the most pigmented out of the finishes), and have a satin finish that is fairly comfortable to wear, usually lightly hydrating, and longer-wearing.

Creams are usually softer and creamier, though not too soft (they don’t mush or break from the base easily), with some being tackier and stiffer in the tube until... Read More.

Comfort Mattes are creamier, a little denser, with richer color payoff on average (they are the most pigmented out of the finishes), and have a satin finish that is fairly comfortable to wear, usually lightly hydrating, and longer-wearing.

Creams are usually softer and creamier, though not too soft (they don’t mush or break from the base easily), with some being tackier and stiffer in the tube until they warm up against the lips; they have good color payoff, are hydrating, and are comfortable to wear but have more typical wear (four to six hours–six hours for deeper/richer shades like a red).

Sheers and Sheer Shimmers have a more balm-like consistency that feels a little thinner but is wetter/more emollient than Mega Mattes, so ultimately, they feel quite different applied; they have sheerer coverage, though more semi-sheer to semi-opaque than very sheer, and have the shortest wear time at two to fours with light hydration.

Metallized is the most shimmery of the finishes, though some of the other finishes have shades that are actually as shimmery (to me), but the Metallized formula has a thinner, more emollient base that isn’t as dense or as cream-like as the Creams; they feel more like the Sheers but a bit heavier and more pigmented (but seem to run semi-opaque to opaque, not always fully opaque) with average wear (four to five hours), light hydration.

A gorgeous chestnut brown. I was hesitant to buy this because browns don't always look good on my skin tone, but it has excellent reviews so I gave it a shot. It did not disappoint. This looks lovely against my porcelain skin. I can totally recommend this shade.

Not as bright as other cool toned reds. Definitely my go-to, staple red lipstick.

A deep, blackened red. This shade flatters my pale skin beautifully, and I can imagine other skin tones looking great in this shade as well. It's a little stiff to apply, but it doesn't skip and is fully opaque in a single swipe.

A beautiful warm rose color. It's my perfect nude shade. Doesn't make me look dead like cool toned blush lipsticks. Also has a long usage time - it doesn't expire for 36 months. So you definitely get your money's worth, in my opinion.

The best of all 3 Naked Cherry shades, but still not a winner. Color is a nice deep cherry, however there are better ones out there. Compared to the other 2 shades of the series this one is more usable, applies a little more easily, has better coverage and lasts a little longer. Consistency is still on the hard side, it does not wear comfortably and thank God the glitter is nowhere to be found. All in all, to those who like to add a deep Cherry lipstick to heir collection, I would recommend to consider different ones since I am afraid that the whole Naked Cherry endevour, however great as a concept, was sadly a fail on Urban Decay's side.

In the Naked Cherry lipstick trio not the worst but bad enough. A very strange shade of pink, in-between barbie doll and bubbe gum, hard to use and hard to pair to most skin tones and occasions. Just like the one in the Juicy shade of the same series, the glitter in it has a too tick grane for a lipstick, It is poorly pigmented, doesn't last at all and soon enough transfers glitter all over. Product consistency is rough and unpleasant and it is practically impossible to use on its own. I am now sporadically using it on top of other lipsticks, before applying gloss, if I like to have a glittery touch. Would not ever buy again and would not recommend

This must be the worse lipstick in human History, certainly the worse that I ever came across. Color is not so flattering and the glitter in it has a too tick grane for a lipstick. It is poorly pigmented, doesn't last at all and transfers glitter all over. Product consistency is rough and unpleasant and it is practically impossible to use on its own. I am now sporadically using it on top of other lipsticks, before applying gloss, if I like to have a glittery touch. Would not ever buy again and would not recommend to my worse enemy

Underrated shade... This shade doesn't get enough attention, considering that exact dupes of it are rare! But I'm so glad I found it, since this is the only genuine "my lips but better" shade that I've found. I have cool/neutral NW15 skin. "Liar" leans very slightly peach on me but it's an amazing neutral pink-nude on me. Where many pinky nudes look too orange or too purple, this succeeds. It's THE pink-nude! I feel like it's universally flattering! As usual, the Vice formula is excellent - probably the most hydrating bullet I've found, and very long-lasting and finely milled so it's not patchy. I can't recommend this one enough!

Ugh I love this but it was limited edition with the Basquiat Collection. This is such a fun orangey nude. It pairs so well with both neutral or colourful eye looks. It's slightly shiny, very comfortable (a slightly more shiny version of UD Lipstick in Carnal), and easy to apply and blend. It takes some re-applying through the night if you're eating, but it's so pigmented you don't need much for reapplications

It's a shame that Scorched is a limited edition lipstick because it's a great product. It's non-drying, long-lasting, the colour is striking and it fades gracefully through meals and drinks. I hope Urban Decay re-releases it so that everyone has a chance to transform themselves into an ancient bronze deity.

This color is amazing. For some reason, it photographed much lighter than it is when applied. It's a midtone-too darkish burnt coral lipstick with some rose in it/ which looks wonderful on those of us with neutral to warm complexions. If you have auburn hair, I'd strongly recommend this shade. I have naturally quite dry and full lips and can't tolerate most matte lipsticks because I have problems with cracking if the formulas are drying. On the other hand, too creamy and I just eat it off within two hours! I wish it were a tad more moisturizing, but since it lasts so long, I can deal with it. This formula is a happy medium--it's as if a matte and a creamy lipstick had a baby, and it came out with the best traits of both. I was worried, from the packaging, that I wasn't going to get a lot of product, but that hasn't been a problem because it lasts so long. I know the package is supposed to look like a shell casing, but it reminds me of my granny's lipstick cases, which were all polished metals instead. Now if the makeup companies would start selling refills, that would be fabulous!

Gorgeous color with my skin tone. I bought this on a whim but turned out to be one of my favorites.

Highly pigmented, non-drying, and stays on the whole day! It’s not transferproof, but a few strokes is enough to last your lip color throughout the day!

This lipstick is beautiful! It is so shiny and the perfect step up from a nude. I love the plummy shade, and the shimmer makes it such a unique shade. I wish they made this a permanent shade! The review says it is, but I can't find it in the full size.

This is a great lipstick,it's just not for me. The lipstick is supposed to have neutral undertones but pulls a little too bubblegum and pastel on my lips. It makes me look like I am straight out of the 60's. The lipstick is creamy opaque and very moisturizing so if you like the color I would recommend it.

This is a cool pinky-red with an insane amount of pigment. You will only need one swipe to get full opacity. Like most Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks it is not long-lasting and you will need to re-apply every few hours or after eating. The wear down leaves a very beautiful stain on my lips. I would highly recommend.

This a really fun colour that give the lips a bit of a tint and lots of glitter! It is not really buildable so if you're looking for pigment I recommend maybe putting this on top of something else. This is a unique shade and I highly recommend!

I am not sure if I got a dud, but I can't get any pigmentation out of this lipstick. The formula feels even drier due to the flakiness of the glitter. Hard pass.

I like this color on its own or as a topper. It pairs especially well with Urban Decay's 714 to give it a bit of pop. It isn't the most long wearing and feels almost...crispy when applied on its own- but not in a bad way. This is comfortable to wear and wears down evenly on my lips.

I really wanted to like this color because it is so cool looking, however it is patchy, and I can never get it to be opaque. Without a lip liner it may feather or smear. I would not recommend buying this product.

This lipstick is a great pop of color, especially is summer or spring. It is creamy and I couldn't feel the glitter on my lips once it was applied. The texture wasn't distracting or difficult to apply. It lasts a long time and fades evenly and leaves a nice stain as it fades.

This brown is a staple in my summer and fall wardrobe. The color isn't super unique, but it is a reliable, comfortable to wear basic. It never bunches up or emphasizes lines, one swipe and you can forget your wearing it. You'll have to reapply it after eating, but that is pretty standard for bullet lipsticks. I am sure you can find a good dupe if you love the color and can't afford the price tag, but if it is your price range I'd buy it.
