MAC Barbecue Lipstick
MAC Barbecue Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “vivid orange-red [with a Matte finish].” It’s a bright, medium orange-red with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had mostly opaque color payoff with a creamy consistency that applied with smooth, even color. This shade lasted for over six hours,, left a stain behind, and was neither drying nor hydrating. MAC Riot House Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “light vivid orange [with a Matte finish].” It’s a light and bright, peachy-orange with warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had good color payoff, but the texture was a little thicker and drier. I found it particularly hard to apply around the edges without it looking more feathered (not normally something I have a problem doing). It applied fairly evenly, though, and lasted for four hours, though some color pulled into lip lines over time, and the formula felt drying. Too Faced Melted Sugar (P, $21.00) is lighter, cooler (85% similar). MAC She's a Peach (LE, $19.00) is darker (85% similar). ColourPop Vice (LE, $6.50) is darker, cooler, less glossy (85% similar). MAC Close Contact (LE, $19.00) is darker, more muted (85% similar). Maybelline Barely Bloomed (700) (P, $7.49) is lighter, glossier (85% similar). MAC Peachstock (P, $19.00) is darker, cooler (80% similar). Tarte Namaste (P, $20.00) is darker (80% similar). Too Faced Melted Nude (P, $21.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). MAC Sweet & Sour (P, $19.00) is darker (80% similar). Milani Adore (LE, $8.99) is darker, less glossy (80% similar). KVD Beauty Agatha (DC, $21.00) is cooler (80% similar). Anastasia Peachy (LE, $20.00) is darker, less glossy (80% similar). Anastasia Pure Hollywood (P, $20.00) is darker (80% similar). KVD Beauty Noble (DC, $21.00) is darker, cooler (80% similar). Makeup Geek Curtsey (LE, $12.00) is darker, more muted, less glossy (80% similar). KVD Beauty Noble (P, $20.00) is darker, more muted (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
MAC Intoxica Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “bright raspberry red [with a Matte finish].” It’s a rich, medium-dark red with a hint of cooler, pinky undertones and almost imperceptible micro-shimmer, but it managed to retain most of its matte finish. It had opaque color coverage with a slightly drier texture, but it didn’t tug too much. This shade was still going strong after six hours of wear, but it was somewhat drying. MAC Dangerously Red (P, $19.00) is lighter (90% similar). ColourPop Mucho (P, $7.00) is more muted (95% similar). Urban Decay Alpha (DC, $18.00) is lighter (95% similar). Make Up For Ever M204 (DC, $22.00) is warmer (95% similar). Pat McGrath Full Panic (LE, $38.00) is warmer, glossier (90% similar). MAC Dramarama (LE, $19.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). MAC Sweet Venom Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as an “intense pink coral [with a Matte finish].” It’s a medium pink with warm, yellow undertones and a satin finish. It was richly pigmented and paired with a smooth, creamy consistency that was easy to apply directly from the tube. The consistency was on the thicker side, which seemed to give it more movement and slip. This shade wore well for four and a half hours with a bit of color getting into lip lines. MAC Hi-Fructease (LE, $19.00) is more muted (95% similar). YSL Opera Rose (29) (P, $34.00) is lighter, glossier (95% similar). Make Up For Ever Exposed Guava (160) (P, $23.00) is cooler (90% similar). Pat McGrath Profumo (DC, $40.00) is darker, more muted, cooler (90% similar). The MAC Blue Nectar Collection is a new, limited edition lip-oriented collection featuring twelve lipsticks (including four repromotes) and six Plushglasses (not reviewing these; my lips react to something in the formula). It launches online on June 2nd and will be available in-stores on June 9th.

Intoxica is so pretty! I love bright berry lipsticks
It is!
Sweet Venom as the one shade i was interested in but I have the JEFFREE Kat Von D liquid lipstick. 😉
It’s close enough!
Barbecue and Intoxica both look really good! They seem to have a ton of dupes though so I’ll look through my stash for something similar for summer.
I hope you have dupes 😀
Funny – I was looking at Too Faced’s Bend and Snap yesterday as a much needed raspberry matte in my collection. I think I like this better!
Yay! I hope you can try it, ACP!
Skip for me. I already have the CP dupe for Barbeque, and the rest aren’t flattering colors for me
Money saved!
Not too impressed with Riot House, but I love the other shades. I got Barbecue the last time it was out, and it’s utterly gorgeous.
Riot House is the tough one here, I think!
Probably crazy on my part, but I absolutely LOVE Sweet Venom!!! Yes, a bit Nicki Minaj on my NC40/ Tarte Med. Honey skin tone, but hey, it’s summertime!
Also loving Intoxica, as well, but with 2 tubes of UD Cat fight, Idk? Too close?
Rock it, Nancy!!
I love the color and depth of Intoxica. If you say it’s mildly drying I can’t chance it though!
Oh, I would stay away for sure! 🙁
How would compare the original release of Riot House to this new version? The original texture was unwearable imho and the color was very uneven, like there wasn’t enough pigment to the wax or something. Couldn’t fix it with a lip liner either :/
It seemed the same to me!
Booooo :/ such a pretty color but looks terrible on my lips after a few minutes! Thanks!
Barbeque is a great colour – but Riothouse is pretty average.
Barbecue is nice!
Those eye tints are gorgeous on you!
Thanks, Amalia!
Christine, how would you say Intoxica compares to Bite Radish? I’m comparing your swatches online and they seem so similar in colour (obv not in finish). When MAC calls Intoxica a raspberry that really seems like a colour could work for me.
Radish is bluer, definitely more of a pink vibe, whereas Intoxica has a stronger red tone – it is deeper and darker. They aren’t like, a million miles apart or anything, but those are the differences I see!
Thank you, thank you! You told me exactly what I needed to hear to stick with Radish and pass on Intoxica. I appreciate you looking into that for me!!
Hi! And how would you compare Intoxica with All Fire Up? They look as well thé same to me :S

I need to read that ever important release date info you kindly post more often. Busted in the MAC store today and they were like, “What color…?”
Aww! So sorry about that ACP!
Intoxica is stunning on you but everything looks stunning on you, Christine, and I am not just saying that. You have amazing skin tone and crazy gorgeous eyes. I am a berry lover and was tempted for a hot minute to get Intoxica but I have All Fired Up, Catfight (x2 thank heavens!) and a couple of other close dupes so think I will be passing. Thank you for the reviews.
You are very kind, Deborah! 🙂 Thank you!
Intoxica vs D is for Danger from last year Matte collection
You can compare any two shades you’d like through the Compare Any Two feature on all review pages as well as on the Swatch Gallery!
Sweet venom looks like it can be a dupe for Betty bright but I can’t figure out how to compare them.

Hi Christine, is Sweet Venom lipstick similar to Viva Glam Nicki lipstick by Mac? I noticed there are a few ysl dupes in common.
Sweet Venom is a lot warmer, way less pink 🙂
