Summer Favorites

Unearthed Treasures

There are so many products available these days, and I thought instead of just rounding up some of my favorites for summer that I would break it down into “sets” with themes, so this set of summer favorites, which I’ve calledĀ Unearthed Treasures, and it’s all about more unusual finishes, types of products, and hues that still invoke a summery vibe (well, to me, obviously).Ā  You can view swatches of all the products in this set here.

Do you have any unusual makeup favorites that you love wearing in the summer time?Ā Ā Share in the comments below!

While these are favorites I’ve enjoyed and would recommend, I hope each set I’ve put together also helps inspire you to try certain products, textures, or shades together. Every product I’ve mentioned I’ve reviewed, which means they also have a list of dupes, so you can check your stash for similar shades and put together your own Unearthed TreasuresĀ set with what you have. Pro tip:Ā  refine results to products you have in your vanity (see this post for more info if you’re like, “Say what?”).

Colourpop Getty is an unearthed treasure for me, too! I haven’t had much luck with blue lipstick looking flattering on me until I tried this one. Other ā€œunearthed treasuresā€ for me this summer are YSL Vinyl Couture Mascara in the shade I’m the Trouble (cobalt blue), and both Marc Jacobs Highliner and Chanel Stylo Yeux Eyeliners in various fun colors—like green, purple, and blue—that I use for tighlining.

I love this thing you’re doing! Great idea, these collections.

And you just reminded me of how much I loved Bite Beauty Peacock Pearl when I first saw it. I might have to get that now. I wish I’d thought of it 5 days ago — just did a Sephora order … darn. But it’s permanent, so no damage done.

What a gorgeous treat for us Christine! I do use different shades and hues for summer myself, far brighter colours on both lip and eye.
Here are some of my favourites:
bareMinerals The Wild Thing – especially Sensational (mint shade) and Contraversy (beautiful blue) and Elitist as a contrasting shade is pretty good too.
For lipsticks I really like a ginger/orangey shade and my favourite is Clarins Joli Rouge in Ginger.

Oh, yes, I love that you included a list of unconventional colors! Thank you! You listed fantastic products here.

My list is heavy on lip products, because I don’t wear as much eye makeup in the summer, especially as it gets hotter. I tend to wear a lot of ultra-brights, blues, teals, and greens on my lips in summer. Some of my unconventional summer favorites:

*I’ll put Bite Beauty Creme Lip Gloss in Peacock Pearl and ColourPop Lux Lipstick in Getty go on my list, too.

*ABH Glow Kit in Moon Child

*MUG Highlighter in Celestial

*UD Afterglow Blush in Bittersweet

*Jordana Dramatic Effects colored mascara and Nyx Colored Mascara

*Black Beauty Cosmetics (etsy) Glitter Liquid Eye Liners (These stay put like nobody’s business!).

*Nyx Macaron Lippies, especially Blue Velvet, Pistachio, and Violet

*UD Vice Lipstick in Control

*ColourPop Ultra Matte in Dr. M; Ultra Satins in Marshmallow and Petit Four

*LA Splash Dia de los Muertos liquid lipstick in Carina

*Kat von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in A-Go-Go

*ABH Liquid Lipstick in Party Pink; Matte Lipstick in Insomniac

*MUFE Plexigloss in Beetle

*Too Faced Unicorn Tears, Mermaid Tears, Angel Tears, and Fairy Tears — alone and layered over more opaque colors.

*UD Electric Palette (DC)

Those 3 Colourpop eyeshadows are SO gorgeous. I wish Colourpop was easily available here but, fortunately, they are pretty easily duped. Green and blue lipsticks are so NOT to my liking at all but when it comes to a brilliant blue eyeshadow, I love NARS Giove. Stila used to make an e/s called “Bubbly” – it’s in the “In the Light” palette. It’s a glisten-y beige/gold shade that is different and very nice to wear.

I love this series!

I think it’s funny that you have my favorite Colourpop supershock (Bae) but also my least favorite (I Heart This) in your top three. I Heart This is a mess of glitter fallout and super unwearable. I wonder if they reformulated it recently because mine from the first year of CP was awful. But Bae is one of the few products I’ve bought backups of. It’s basically the cool-tone-lover’s Grunge, with purple/teal tones instead of maroon/lime. Brilliant.

I’m really loving your non-review posts lately! Thanks for branching out and giving me some more inspiration. I really love this whole theme.

How on earth did I manage to miss this post until now? I’m shocked at myself, tbh. Especially since I either own many of the above or have several on my WL!
Anyway; I love the stormy vibe I’m picking up on from these somewhat moody, even grungy shades. Perfect for today’s *interesting* weather. (my poor daughter had her parking garage roof fall on her CAR hood , I don’t think she’d see this as *interesting*!)
Time to bring out my Disturbed Peacock!
(Lip combo, that is ?)
