YSL Maris' Nude & Scout's Red Rouge Pur Couture Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches
Maris' Nude (123)
YSL Maris’ Nude (123) Rouge Pur Couture SPF15 Lipstick ($38.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a muted, medium rosy brown with warmer undertones and a satin finish. It had rich color coverage that applied evenly and smoothly across my lips in a fluid stroke that never tugged on my lips during application. The lipstick had a lightly creamy consistency that had enough slip to glide on but never felt slippery while worn. It lasted well for four and a half hours and was hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$38.00/0.13 oz. - $292.31 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "rich color with intense hydration ... in just one stroke." The lipstick has moderate slip--some shades are fairly emollient and can feel slippery during wear, while many are creamy but adhere well enough.
I've found that more mid-tone and deeper shades have better applications with smoother, more forgiving color that was semi-opaque or higher in coverage. Some of the lighter and the very deepest shades were more prone to settling into lip lines or yielding more medium to semi-opaque coverage.
The wear ranged from four to six hours on average. I found the formula was usually on the hydrating side. There was a sweet, floral scent with a very subtle taste, though I felt like it sometimes gave me a taste and other times, I didn't notice anything.

Maris' Nude (123)
LELimited Edition. $38.00.
Scout's Red (124)
YSL Scout’s Red (124) Rouge Pur Couture SPF15 Lipstick ($38.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a vivid, medium red with warm, orange undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in one layer, which built up to full coverage with a second layer. The texture felt smooth, velvety, and dense without being so firm that it dragged on my lips, so it was comfortable to apply and to wear. The color adhered evenly to my lips and softened a lot of my lip lines and texture. It lasted for over six hours, left a stain behind, and was just slightly moisturizing over time.

I love how bright and almost stained looking Scout’s Red is. It’s insanely gorgeous.
That’s why I have got to get it next spring, Rachel! That with a simple pin-up eye and kaboom!
Just what I was thinking! If I can bring myself to pay that much for a lipstick.
I haven’t tried YSL’s formula. Has it got a heavy scent or anything? TYIA
Rachel, I hope it doesn’t have a perfume-y scent to it! But, I’m not sure because I haven’t tried YSL lipsticks yet. I know that Guerlain sure does, but most brands just do vanilla, thank goodness.
OK; thanks.
Scout’s Red is so beautiful, but it is a shade I would rather rock in warmer seasons. It just doesn’t fit my idea of a “wintery” tone of red, though.
Scout’s Red is a gorgeous red but I tend to look better in cooler toned reds. I am glad for people who can pull off these orange/red shades. They are certainly brightening and just look like the perfect lipstick to wear to a party.
YSL is definitely into their vivid reds lately. Both lippies are gorgeous.
Wow these are both gorgeous as all get out. If I come across them in-store…
Who’s this Scout, tho?
Zoe Kravitz’s dog.
Yay dogs! Might have to get it just for that. My Pirates palette was in honor of my Black and Tan, Jussi Sperling/ German for Jack Sparrow. It’s a good thing there is not an AKC mega palette, or I’d be all over it. We do need a Mellan Yellow, f’sure.
