Starwoman

NARS Starwoman Powermatte Lip Pigment ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a medium-dark red with neutral-to-cool undertones and a mostly matte finish. It was richly pigmented and had a very fluid, smooth consistency that was easy to spread across the lips for even, opaque coverage in a single layer. It took awhile to dry down; it was mostly dry within a few minutes, but there were small areas that took almost an hour to disappear. It wore well for six hours and was non-drying.

The new formula is described as “liquefied pigments with infinite matte color saturation for lasting, weightless wear.” It’s supposed to have “full coverage in one swipe” that “dries down instantly” for “smudge-resistant, carefree wear.” The formula has a very fluid consistency that is thin, smooth, but not at all watery, and the majority of shades were nearly opaque or opaque in a single layer. The dry down started quickly but was forgiving as I maneuvered around the edges of the lips but remained a bit tacky when I pressed my lips together for over a half hour later, though as long as I did not press my lips together until five minutes post-application, the color did not lift. I have found the wear to be comfortable so far–non-drying–but not the longest-wearing nor the most budge-proof in liquid lipstick, as just sipping water, tea, or coffee caused color to transfer onto my cups. There was plenty of coverage, so it still lasted through drinking but did start to break down noticeably during a meal. Even just touching the color after a half hour of wearing it yielded color on my fingertips. The formula had a soft, vanilla scent but no discernible taste.

Just Push Play

NARS Just Push Play Powermatte Lip Pigment ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a medium-dark, reddened copper with warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. The liquid lipstick had opaque pigmentation that drenched the lips in a single layer (I think one pull of product was more than sufficient to cover the lips). The texture was lightweight, comfortable to apply and to wear, and fluid enough that I did have to be careful along the edges to avoid going too far outside my natural line. It wore well for five and a half hours and was neither drying nor hydrating.

Under My Thumb

NARS Under My Thumb Powermatte Lip Pigment ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a deep, reddish plum with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. The color payoff was fantastic, while the texture was smooth, lightweight, and fluid on the lips, which made it a cinch to spread the color across the lips for even coverage. Though it has a dry down like a typical liquid lipstick might have, there was a faint tackiness that remained present for most of the wear. It lasted for six hours on me and was non-drying.

All of these. Just all of these. Delayed gratification still suggests to me that there will be a holiday set at S. I can wait. I think. Minis are always great, esp if you have TMS. Don’t care if they’re duped in stash. And I don’t even care how misogynistic The Rolling Stones reference is! Now, we’re into MY season. Down with corals and up with deep reds. Profondo Rosso! (Nars has yet to eat into Italian Gialli references…) Thanks, Christine (and Francois.). So very in. Mmmmm.

Hope you are following the current conversation on Muse. Agreed. Apparently the testing is only in/for China. But that does leave Nars out for many people.

Just got “Star Woman” and concur — it’s FANTASTIC. The formula is pretty unusual in feel/wear, and I might need “Under My Thumb” now too. <3

Nah, it’s love. I’ll put on VG 1 (or Fire or other dupe, still wish I had gotten Codie and given away the nails…) do a comparison/contrast, and bet I can justify it. My only save will be if I hate the formula. And I’m not done with VLGs yet!

Starwoman looks like it would be a great deep sexy red for me to wear in the fall and winter. A NARS sephora rep told me its a liquid dupe for cruella which is a red I love. It’s definitely on my list to wear for the cooler months.
I was bummed to find out that this isn’t completely transfer proof and it’s more like a softer matte finish like the tarteist creamy matte lip paints but more watery and it doesn’t move out of my lip line. It’s got moisturizing oils in it to keep lips hydrated and not look cracked and shriveled, which explains why it’s not non-transferable. Also I love how it doesn’t smear all over my face when I take it off unlike Kat von D or Anastasia liquid lipsticks.
