MAC Highlights Lipstick
MAC Highlights Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “very pale creamy peach [with a Lustre finish].” It’s a light-medium peach with warm, orange undertones and a natural shine. It had sheer pigmentation with a lightweight texture with some slip. Unfortunately, it applied unevenly and gathered into lip lines from the get-go on my lips. The color lasted for an hour and a half on me, while the formula was neither hydrating nor drying. This is a repromote, though the permanent version seemed darker swatched and in the tube, but it didn’t vary as much applied. Chanel Volage (227) (LE, $45.00) is lighter, brighter (95% similar). MAC Real Redhead (LE, $19.00) is warmer (95% similar). MAC Pure Vanity (LE, $19.00) is warmer (95% similar). MAC You've Got It (LE, $19.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). MAC Free as a Butterfly (LE, $19.00) is lighter (90% similar). bareMinerals Dream Big (LE, $20.00) is warmer (90% similar). MAC Naked Bud (LE, $19.00) is warmer (90% similar). Tarte Mimosa (LE, $16.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Julianne (LE, $36.00) is more shimmery, darker (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
MAC Really Me Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “muted neutral pink [with a Matte finish].” It’s a light-medium, pinky-mauve with neutral-to-warm undertones and a satin finish. The color appeared darker swatched than in the tube, but it appeared lighter applied to lips. The texture was lightly creamy with a light-medium thickness that applied without dragging. It had opaque pigmentation that went on fairly evenly. On me, the color wore well for four and a half hours and was very lightly drying. ColourPop Littlestitious (P, $7.00) is darker, less glossy (95% similar). Bite Beauty Cava (P, $24.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). MAC Red Rock Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “classic clean red [with a Matte finish].” It’s a bright, medium red with neutral-to-cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. It was intensely pigmented, velvety-smooth, and glided on easily. This was easily the best shade out of the new shades that launched (that I’ve tried). It was still going strong after six hours of wear, though it was slightly drying after four and a half hours. MAC Just Add Romance (P, $20.00) is darker (90% similar). Bite Beauty Fraise (DC, $24.00) is warmer (95% similar). MAC Opera (LE, $19.00) is darker, more muted (90% similar). MAC Von Teese (LE, $19.00) is darker (90% similar). Highlights is pretty — too bad it gathers in lip lines! If Really Me was a bit cooler and darker, it might be a great MLBB for me. Red Rock is pretty, but too warm for me…
I wish Highlight sat better on the lips!
Not my colors at all, but Red Rock goes well with the earrings!
Thanks, Katherine!
I thought I was gonna like Really Me but now that I’ve seen it on I have to say I don’t 🙁
Aww!
It’s so weird how Highlights *looks* gorgeous on you, but falls dismally short when it comes to endurance. But it actually looks very nice!
Really Me reminds me of Blankety for some odd reason, so I probably will not even go near it.
But: Red Rock will likely prove my resistance is futile. That is a drop-dead gorgeous old Hollywood red!!!
I can see why you’d say Really Me is reminiscent of Blankety!
Red Rock is really a nice red. It doesn’t seem like I have any dupes, how that is possible I do not know. I’ll just have to add it to the evergrowing list. 🙂
The other two isn’t for me.
lol! Sometimes reds can be quite different!
Red Rock is just beautiful. Great colour.
It’s very rich!
Red Rock is really pretty!
It is!
Red Rock will be mine. I swear it’s the red I’ve been looking for – bright, but with cooler undertones. Most brighter reds seem to have warm undertones and, while I can get away with that sometimes, I know I’ll be much happier with this 🙂
Fingers crossed it’s the perfect red for you, Katie!
Red Rock looks great on you.
Thanks, Chris!
LOVE your earrings!!! Gorgeous!!!
Thanks, Terri!
Already picked up Really Me but I definitely need Red Rock!!!! What a stunning red!!!!!
Woohoo!
Highlights is so sheer that it almost looks like you aren’t wearing anything! I was going to buy Really Me but found that my Creme Cup is close enough for me not to buy it. I also have Bianca from CP. I ordered O from Nordstrom and its backordered so I won’t get it until the 31st. I love the color selection and quality of Mac lipsticks they are my favorite lipstick.
Glad you already have a dupe for Really Me!
Yes, creme cup is cooler and really me is more of a neutral. Really Me would suit me better, but its close enough. 🙂
