MAC Highlights Lipstick

MAC Highlights Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “very pale creamy peach [with a Lustre finish].” It’s a light-medium peach with warm, orange undertones and a natural shine. It had sheer pigmentation with a lightweight texture with some slip. Unfortunately, it applied unevenly and gathered into lip lines from the get-go on my lips. The color lasted for an hour and a half on me, while the formula was neither hydrating nor drying. This is a repromote, though the permanent version seemed darker swatched and in the tube, but it didn’t vary as much applied. MAC Real Redhead (LE, $19.50) is warmer (95% similar). Chanel Volage (227) (LE, $38.00) is lighter, brighter (95% similar). MAC Pure Vanity (LE, $19.50) is warmer (95% similar). MAC You've Got It (LE, $19.50) is more shimmery (90% similar). Chanel Charmeuse (142) (LE, $38.00) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Solar Gold (LE, $49.00) is warmer (90% similar). Chanel Rouge Ingenue (168) (P, $38.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Chanel Catherine (410) (P, $37.00) is warmer (90% similar). MAC Naked Bud (LE, $19.50) is warmer (90% similar). Urban Decay Tantric (P, $18.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). bareMinerals Dream Big (LE, $20.00) is warmer (90% similar). MAC Free as a Butterfly (LE, $19.50) is lighter (90% similar). Chanel Cheri (61) (DC, $34.00) is glossier (95% similar). Guerlain Yellow It-stick (603) (DC, $37.00) is darker (85% similar). Dior Diormoon (439) (P, $37.00) is less shimmery, warmer (85% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Julianne (LE, $36.00) is more shimmery, darker (85% similar). Tarte Mimosa (LE, $16.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

MAC Really Me Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “muted neutral pink [with a Matte finish].” It’s a light-medium, pinky-mauve with neutral-to-warm undertones and a satin finish. The color appeared darker swatched than in the tube, but it appeared lighter applied to lips. The texture was lightly creamy with a light-medium thickness that applied without dragging. It had opaque pigmentation that went on fairly evenly. On me, the color wore well for four and a half hours and was very lightly drying. Colour Pop Littlestitious (P, $7.00) is darker, less glossy (95% similar). Bite Beauty Cava (P, $26.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). MAC Driftwood (DC, $21.00) is darker (90% similar). Colour Pop Bianca (P, $6.50) is darker, less glossy (90% similar). Pat McGrath Madame Greige (P, $38.00) is darker (90% similar). Bite Beauty Cava (P, $24.00) is darker, cooler (85% similar). Colour Pop Trap (P, $6.50) is darker, less glossy (85% similar). Bite Beauty Cava (DC, $24.00) is darker (85% similar). Urban Decay Oblivion (P, $18.00) is darker (90% similar). Too Faced Queen B (P, $21.00) is darker, less glossy (80% similar). NARS Dayle (P, $34.00) is darker, cooler (85% similar). Too Faced Overexposed (P, $22.00) is darker (80% similar). Makeup Geek Trailblazer (P, $12.00) is darker, more muted, cooler (80% similar). Bite Beauty Gelato (P, $24.00) is darker, cooler (80% similar). Bite Beauty Star Anise (LE, $26.00) is darker, glossier (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

MAC Red Rock Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “classic clean red [with a Matte finish].” It’s a bright, medium red with neutral-to-cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. It was intensely pigmented, velvety-smooth, and glided on easily. This was easily the best shade out of the new shades that launched (that I’ve tried). It was still going strong after six hours of wear, though it was slightly drying after four and a half hours. Bite Beauty Fraise (P, $24.00) is warmer (95% similar). NARS Deadly Catch (LE, $26.00) is darker, glossier (90% similar). MAC Opera (LE, $19.50) is darker, more muted (90% similar). MAC Kinky (LE, $19.50) is darker (90% similar). Kat Von D Tijuana (DC, $21.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). MAC Tenor Voice (LE, $19.50) is lighter (95% similar). Dior 999 Matte (999) (P, $35.00) is more muted, warmer (90% similar). MAC Just Add Romance (P, $20.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC Self Esteem (LE, $19.50) is darker, more muted, cooler (90% similar). MAC Von Teese (LE, $19.50) is darker (90% similar). MAC Lasting Passion (P, $19.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Kat Von D Outlaw (P, $20.00) is warmer, less glossy (90% similar). Anastasia American Doll (P, $20.00) is less glossy (90% similar). Colour Pop Lucky Star (LE, $7.00) is darker, more muted, cooler (85% similar). Bite Beauty Gazpacho (P, $26.00) is darker, less glossy (85% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. Highlights is pretty — too bad it gathers in lip lines! If Really Me was a bit cooler and darker, it might be a great MLBB for me. Red Rock is pretty, but too warm for me…

It’s so weird how Highlights *looks* gorgeous on you, but falls dismally short when it comes to endurance. But it actually looks very nice!
Really Me reminds me of Blankety for some odd reason, so I probably will not even go near it.
But: Red Rock will likely prove my resistance is futile. That is a drop-dead gorgeous old Hollywood red!!!

Red Rock is really a nice red. It doesn’t seem like I have any dupes, how that is possible I do not know. I’ll just have to add it to the evergrowing list. 🙂
The other two isn’t for me.

Red Rock will be mine. I swear it’s the red I’ve been looking for – bright, but with cooler undertones. Most brighter reds seem to have warm undertones and, while I can get away with that sometimes, I know I’ll be much happier with this 🙂

Highlights is so sheer that it almost looks like you aren’t wearing anything! I was going to buy Really Me but found that my Creme Cup is close enough for me not to buy it. I also have Bianca from CP. I ordered O from Nordstrom and its backordered so I won’t get it until the 31st. I love the color selection and quality of Mac lipsticks they are my favorite lipstick.
