Bite Beauty Tannin Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “poppy red.” It’s a muted, medium-dark red with warm, brown tones and a glossy sheen. This was definitely one of the shinier shades in the range, and it had a lot more slip–reminded me more of the Luminous Creme range, though this was still less thick and less glossy overall. The color wore for five hours and left a stain behind, but I had slight feathering after four hours. It was moderately hydrating while worn. MAC Maison Rouge (P, $23.00) is glossier (95% similar). Formula Overview
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is supposed to have “bold, creamy color” with “extreme moisture, soft texture, and creamy wear.” The majority of the range is very pigmented–typically opaque with one pass–with a few shades being semi-opaque but usually buildable. All 34 shades are shimmer-free and vary being a soft satin finish to a natural finish (light shine but not glossy). The consistency is very lightly creamy to lightly creamyu with some shades requiring light-medium pressure and can pull the lip a bit when gliding it across the lips, though the color doesn’t appear ragged and the bullet itself doesn’t feel stiff (while other shades applied without tugging, so check individual shade reviews!) The majority of the shades I’ve tested have been lightly hydrating to non-drying and fairly comfortable to wear for the long-haul. They wear longer than average, from four to eight hours, depending on the intensity and propensity of the shade to stain.
In comparison to the Luminous Creme formula: The level of color payoff and lemony scent are the two things that are similar, but they feel quite different on. If you have drier lips and need the intense hydration that the Luminous Creme formula offered, I don’t know if you’re going to like these. The Luminous Creme formula had a thicker consistency with a very creamy texture that glided on and never tugged at all, and the thicker consistency paired with the glossier finish was more forgiving on lips as it didn’t emphasize lines, natural texture, dryness, or flaking. Some had issues with the Luminous Creme formula bleeding/feathering and shorter-wear due to the amount of slip (high), and the Amuse Bouche formula has much, much less slip, so the wear is longer. I didn’t typically experience bleeding/feathering with the Luminous Creme formula, and that is also true with Amuse Bouche, but I would expect less with this more satin-finish formula for most (but not all). The scent seemed slightly stronger in the Amuse Bouche range, but it wasn’t noticeable after I was done applying the color.

Amazing how many dupes for beetroot are other Bite beauty products. I like them all, but definitely do not need this particular iteration.
Aside: Nicole.. my recent Sephora order with the Bite VIB perk.. confusing to say the least. My shipping notice says the shade is Radish and NOT Sour Cherry LOL even though the code matched Sour Cherry when I placed the perk in my basket but the promo email indicated Radish. I will let you know which one actually shows up on my doorstep.
Beetroot looks like a beautiful red and Radish seems like it’ll be perfect for spring and fall. I need to try a Bite Beauty lipstick soon. They really seem like they’re worth it!
So far, so good 🙂
It’s always nice to see such beautiful reds. Radish is my favorite.
Great pick! Radish seems to be a popular one!
Oh, now I understand the excitement over radish! beautiful! I love tannin also. But, I have several of the dupes including the luminous creme version. So, I’ll skip.
That seems to be the one winning people over!
Radish showed up on my doorstep as the 100 point perk mini and not Sour Cherry.
Thanks for the notice! I’m still waiting on my package!
I’m so pleased that Radish got an A as I I’m expecting that as a 100 points gift in my upcoming Sephora delivery! All the colours above look gorgeous, so hard not to buy them all!
Can’t wait for you to try it!
All three look AMAZING!!! My favorite is definitely Beetroot, if for no other reason, it is just different from anything in my stash that I can think of at the moment. Different AND beautiful!
Cannot wait for an opportunity to try out my Radish mini!
Hope your mini arrives soon!
I’m impressed with what I have seen of this line so far. Beetroot is absolutely gorgeous.
What shade is tempting you the most so far?
I like Beetroot and Tannin, gorgeous, but have enough dupes in my stash
Money saved!
I’d like to have the baby from Radish & Beetroot!
Haha! 😉
I just got Radish. Had the same experience that you did with the texture & wear. The lemon scent was very strong & I was put off by it at first, but it quickly disappeared. I might try another color too.
I’m glad the scent didn’t linger too long for you, GK!
All three are stunning! Radish is at the top of my Bite Wish List!
Yayy!!
Just love the Tannin lipstick colour – really gorgeous. And it looks great on you Christine.
Thank you, Genevieve!
I love all three of these colors and have a mini of Radish, which I need to try again with a primer and/or liner to see if that helps it tendency to leak a bit at the corners of my mouth. I don’t really like to fuss with my lip color much on a daily basis, but if all it takes is wearing a primer underneath, this formula could work for me.
I’m so surprised that Radish is feathering 🙁
I’m pretty sure it’s because of age-related changes at the corners of my mouth. Bite’s previous formula did that on me, too, unfortunately — a few formulas do — the Urban Decay x Gwen Stephanie lipsticks do, whereas the Urban Decay Revolution formula doesn’t. I haven’t experienced feathering with either of those formulas anywhere else, and I don’t think most people would get feathering. Just one of the unfortunate consequences of getting older (which, as the saying goes, is way better than the alternative).
I got Radish as a 100 point perk last week and I love it! Its such a great summer, warm weather, punch of colour. left a pretty stain too. I think I want to try out more of this particular line from Bite. I absolutely love this colour on you!
Yayyy! So glad you are loving the formula so far, Janessa. 🙂
I got a sample of Radish from Sephora and am really impressed. I loved the Luminous Creme colors, but the wear left something to be desired. Radish stayed on for hours with no feathering, and the color is gorgeous. I will definitely buy a full tube once the sample is gone. A friend tried and recommends Gazpacho, and Sour Cherry and Eggplant also look promising.
Now I’m wondering if my mini-tube of Palomino was not, in fact, Palomino because it it is lighter and a lot cooler than Radish; the tubes look related, but I’d rate them at most as 60% similar. Palomino was too cool and pink for my skin tone, whereas Radish looks great.
Happy to hear that Radish is working beautifully on you, Jen!
Put my tax return to good use yesterday and really wanted to pick up one of these new Bite lips! I had to choose between Jam and Radish but in the end, I think I don’t really have a nice pink so I went with Radish. I have brights and more plumy pinks but nothing like this. Thank you for the review! It’s my second Bite purchase but 4rd lip because I got that awesome Kir Royale combo that Sephora had for a while.
Beetroot looks like it is very similar to MAC Heaux (Amplified). What do you think? I love the Bite Beauty color and am tempted to buy it…
