Tarte Toasted Tartelette Amazonian Clay Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Toasted
Tarte Toasted Tartelette Amazonian Clay Palette ($46.00 for 0.64 oz.) contains 12 shades of warm neutrals with a mix of mattes and metallics. I wish there was more variety in the shimmery shades–three are variations on medium copper!–and that the gold shade was more finely-milled and had a firmer press. The eyeshadows performed decently, but the powderiness of the mattes made them the type of texture that needed a primer to do well.

S'more
S’more is a light beige with warm, orange undertones and a matte finish. The powder felt finely-milled and velvety, though it had a moderate amount of powderiness in the pan. It had rich color payoff that wore well for seven hours on me.

Crackle
Crackle is a deep brown with warm undertones and flecks of gold sparkle over a matte finish. It was the type of shade where the sparkles made it look pretty in the pan but made it more annoying to use, as the sparkles did not bind with the powder and just dropped below the lid (or got trapped in the brush). The texture was soft and finely-milled but powdery. It had good pigmentation that lasted well for seven hours on me.

To me, many of Tarte’s eyeshadow palettes are interchangeable and this one is very similar to all of the brands other releases.
As you have said in your opening comments Christine, there are many similar shades here and the introduction of some colours would have made this palette stand out from the rest.
As it is, it is generally a fairly average palette.
A lovely eye look, as usual Christine.
That’s pretty much my reaction too, Genevieve – so many of these Tarte palettes look more or less identical to one another (some might have one or 2 cooler shades thrown in). Years ago, I used to be quite interested in their palette releases but that died out pretty quickly as they seemed to be the same shades with new names.
When this first came out I thought I had to buy it…. but now with this review and the dupes list I realize I already have some of the best shades. Thank you for saving me money!
Big Yawn……..
I want this palette so badly! It’s everything I could ever want.
I really love these sorts of warm and “toasty” shades, but having ABH Modern Renaissance, ColourPop Yes, Please and many a warm MAC, UD, etc. single eyeshadow, it’s unlikely I really *need* it.
This is on my wishlist, but the B rating makes it a bit easier to pass it up. I really shouldn’t spend the money on a palette that I can probably recreate with shadows I already own.
These warm, light neutrals are my fundamentals. I’ve been sorely tempted by this palette even though I can dupe most shades in various placers in my stash. It’s a convenience and good size for travel, which I’ve been doing a lot of lately. Something to think about after the holidays rush.
I really like the Warmth shade!! Looks like it’d be a great crease shade!
I didn’t need this palette, I have dupes but they’re spread alll over the place. I adore these types of colors, they are my favorites, so I bought this during the Sephora sale and I have to say-I love absolutely everything about this palette. It is definitely one of my all time favorite palettes.
What would you choose, between this and the Just Peachy Mattes palette, for NC 40 skin, dark hair?
Probably Just Peachy!
