My Favorite Limited Edition Things | Sephora Holiday 2019

Sephora’s holiday shopping event kicks off November 1st for Rouges, who have early access to the event.  Rouges can save 20% off all purchases online and in-store with code HOLIDAYSAVE.  Starting on November 7th, VIBs can save 15% off and Insiders can save 10% off with the same code, HOLIDAYSAVE.  The event ends November 11th for all tiers.

I also wanted to take a moment to highlight some of my favorite non-makeup sets that I’ve seen at Sephora, as I don’t want to purchase a set just to photograph it, but these are brands and formulas I have tested over the years and think the sets offer good value.

If you’re curious about all of the limited edition holiday products and sets, in total, check out our Best of Holiday 2019 Palettes & Gifts, which automatically updates the rankings as new reviews go live.

Phew!
I got everything I wanted on my cart and managed to use the code 13 minutes before midnight…
Ritualistic Rose, Sublime Eye Ecstasy, Lasthash Favorites Kit, Soko to Tokyo favorites kit, Dallas Bite Beauty amuse bouche lipstick, Skinfix AHA renewing cream, Farmacy cleansing balm in special cherry edition and normal jumbo size, other smaller kits for in-laws Christmas gifts, and more… my credit card is still trembling.
Now I have to wait until I receive the shipping confirmation to see if they really had stock of everything.

The Ritualistic Rose quad from Pat McGrath is now already out of stock!!

I had Ritualistic Rose in my shopping cart and within 5 minutes of the sale going live (Pacific Standard Time) that quad went out of stock! I was so disappointed especially being that it happened on the first day of the sale. I wonder if they held back quantities? Who knows. I hope they restock before the sale is over but I won’t hold my breath for too long.

Wednesday, I guess I shouldn’t feel bad that I didn’t get that PMG rose quad (I think I’ll survive, LOL). As much as I wanted to get the Midnight Sun palette, I passed on it for now. I figured it’s permanent and can I get it at another time (maybe Pat will have a Black Friday sale). I ended up getting the Bum Bum shower gel and biggie sized cream which I always have in my gym bag. I love the smell and consider it a reward to myself after my workout. I think I’m going to also get the ABH luminous foundation before the sale ends.

Last years sale at this time the same thing happened to me. I can’t remember which Pat McGrath palette it was at the time but about 5 minutes before the sale went live it read, “out of stock” and then about 2 days after the sale was over it was back in stock. I can’t fault Pat for that because I am sure it was all Sephora. Now, if it is something I really want and will be heartbroken if I don’t get it, I just go ahead and order it. There is no way to know for sure what is happening. I will keep my fingers crossed that it comes back in stock before the sale is over!

I like when you suggest favorite non-makeup items as well. 🙂 The Olaplex set is so nice… too bad Olaplex completely doesn’t work for me at all. 😆
The Drunk Elephant trunk is a great deal in the end… but that’s so expensive. The mini ones are a great way to test the brand. But I got to the conclusion that sets are only valuable for me only if I know I like all items, or if I’m just testing a new brand and the set costs less than the full size I wanted to try first (that’s how I discovered that Peter Thomas Roth skincare doesn’t work for me, through the mini mask set and the Cloud Hydration kit).

Christine Avatar

Yes, I agree — sets are great IF you like most of the items (if there’s enough “value” in the set, even being so-so on one mini could be fine) or you’re trying a new brand or you’ve tried the brand and loved a lot of products so far… and want to try a few without investing in full-sized ones!

Blanca Avatar

Indeed my two kits follow your conditions, Lashtash includes full sizes of Benefit’s roller lash which I love and IT Cosmetics Superhero which I like, those two are already worth more than the set and I get to try all the rest for free.
And in Soko to Tokyo there’s an SKII facial essence bottle that I’ve always been intrigued by which if I remember correctly is worth more than the set already and I wouldn’t have bought on its own!

The Fresh Sake bath came back in stock last night at 8 PM so at 4 on my way to work I bought it online. In person. picked up HUDA Mecury Retrograde, the Hourglass Ghost Quad, the dual board meeting/hbic lip kit…. no self control.

Clinique Cool Down is every bit as awesome!

I’m so proud of myself for not falling into the trap of spending money to save money. I started my basket a week before the event and gradually knocked it back to less than half the money I was originally going to spend. I didn’t buy any of the items I thought I would be buying; namely

TF Soleil Neige palette
Huda Mercury Retrograde
PMG Mothership Midnight Sun
ABH Luminous foundation

I ditched each and every one of these pricey items and bought a handful of coloured pencils (they always get used), lip balm (I live for lip balm). Now I must contain itchy trigger finger for a week and a half. The psychology behind this event is killer innit?
