Bite Beauty Holiday 2019 Mini Amuse Bouche Supercharged Lipstick Set Review & Swatches
Creamy Color (Holiday 2019)
Bite Beauty Creamy Color (Holiday 2019) Mini Amuse Bouche Supercharged Lipstick Set ($21.00 for 0.2 oz.) is a new, limited edition four-piece set of new, exclusive shades. If you like pigmented, creamier lip color with good wear that’s hydrating, Bite’s holiday sets are a nice place to start.
When I asked Bite if these were the reformultaed Amuse Bouche formula (which is coming soon as a replacement for the current formula), they said it wasn’t, though these are vegan. I really didn’t notice much of a difference; these seemed to have a similar slip, intensity, feel, and wear to past iterations I’ve tried in the Amuse Bouche formula. The only shade that was visibly different was Ruby Bonbon as it had pearl.

Creamy Color (Holiday 2019)
LELimited Edition. $21.00.
Cocoa Bite
Cocoa Bite is a muted, medium-dark peach with moderate, warm undertones and a cream finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff in a single stroke, which applied evenly across my lips. There was a smidgen of product in my deeper lip lines that I could discern in the close-up photo but not in person. The consistency was lightly creamy with a touch of tackiness, which I’ve found helps keep the product in place and give it longer-wear while keeping it comfortable to wear. It stayed on well for five hours and was moisturizing while worn.

Formula Overview
-
Per the brand, it's "super-pigmented, creamy color," and by the name, it appears as a derivative of the Amuse Bouche range. The noteworthy difference was that the four shades were vegan (and the Amuse Bouche formula uses beeswax typically), but the brand said this wasn't the reformulation (which is supposed to be vegan) of the Amuse Bouche, which is expected to debut in 2020.
The four shades in this formula were pigmented, creamy, and long-wearing with the typical slightly herbaceous lemon scent and no discernible taste. They felt lightly creamy with a touch of tackiness, which helped with adhesion and prevented color from sinking noticeably into my lip lines. The formula was hydrating over time and felt comfortable to wear.

Good Jujube
Good Jujube is a medium-dark, peachy coral with warm undertones and a glossy, cream finish. It had good pigmentation that applied evenly across my lips, and while it had moderate slip, it managed to go on evenly and kept out of my lip lines. This shade lasted well for four and a half hours and felt hydrating over time.

Ruby Bonbon
Ruby Bonbon is a medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and fine, multi-colored pearl that gave it a luminous finish–pearlized but not overtly shimmery. The consistency was lightweight, creamy without being too slippery, and comfortable to apply and to wear. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that applied in a fluid stroke. The color wore well for five hours and felt moisturizing while worn.

Cherry Truffle
Cherry Truffle is a rich, deep copper with warm, red undertones and a creamy, lightly glossy finish. It was richly pigmented with full color coverage in a single layer, which adhered evenly and applied smoothly across my lips without tugging. The texture was creamy, lightly tacky, and lightweight, so it was comfortable to wear. It stayed on nicely for six hours and felt hydrating over time.

Ruby BonBon is beautiful and if it were a single it would be a part of my collection. No way could I pull off Coco Bite or Good Jujube, they’d look like concealer lips on my skin tone and that is not my vibe, so unfortunately this is a pass. Hopefully they’ll release a full size like Ruby because I really do like the formula of these lipsticks.
I might have to get this set, all the shades look lovely and i have never tired their lipstick.
Re: Cherry Truffle. Had the same problem with Cedar. 7 dupes. Never said yes to Golshan. And these don’t dupe as closely on me…. Some are not even at a 70%…….At least I recognize rationalization, when I commit it. What a great shade! Good thing it’s in a set with less preferred colors.
I am with you, kjh. I have so many dupes of the shades I like and always try to rationalize picking up more. I am standing fast this time.
I purchased these and LOVE the formula whatever formula it is. It does not seem like the amuse old formula to me at all. Jmo. It’s much creamier and wet looking. Lasts a faily good time. I’m not totally thrilled with all the shades but for my medium skintone & dark hair they will work. Definitely worth the price. Great gift set.
I’ll be picking this up for sure — but it seems weird for this to NOT be the new formula. I wonder when we will see the new one?
Expecting for spring – so possibly late this year or early 2020! Bite doesn’t seem to launch TOO ahead relative to other brands so my guess is Jan-Feb. I know that on my end, the Bite lipsticks are on sale through 11/26 (makes me wonder if they will be on deeper discount come Black Friday/Cyber Monday or if they’ll be reduced to 30-40% off and have a sale on sale %).
I too will be interested to see what happens with the remaining stock as we get closer to 11/26! I might sneak a few more colors into my cart if they get even cheaper.
I wonder if they will be judging reaction to the formula of these vegan colors before finalizing the new formula?
Based on what I know about production times, I would be surprised if it wasn’t already finalized and they started to run inventory in order to manufacture 20++ (I think the original range ha 30 or 40 shades) different shades to be launched simultaneously.
Well, that decides it; I’m getting this set! There is not a single shade I wouldn’t use out of the four, so it would get a lot of usage. I’d probably store them in my refrigerator, though. They seem “melty” and are probably very soft, I’m guessing.
My experience with Cherry Truffle was much different. It feathered/bled on me and faded unevenly quite quickly. Cocoa Bite isn’t a great color on me. Ruby Bonbon is very lovely but I can’t keep the set for only 2 colors.
Are these softer than the normal formula? They seem a bit more smushed than usual.
They didn’t feel softer to me!
Ohhh that’s why all the Bite lipsticks are being marked down. Huh, well I hope the reformulation is just as good.
With that being said, Bite’s minis satisfy me and I feel like I always get plenty of product from them, and this set looks lovely. So I think I might be picking it up.
These lipsticks are gorgeous, but the only shade I would use is the Cherry Truffle – what a perfect shade that is!
I’m glad these performed well even though they claim this isn’t the new formula. However it suffers from the same issue I have with a lot of the Bite releases in that their entire line tends to skew warm by an overwhelming margin compared to their offerings with cool to neutral undertones and I just can’t do like 99% of the warm shades out there. I’m very interested in how they’ll approach the color offerings of the new formula – will it just be favorites reformulated or brand new collections. There are a few shades that I’ll be sad if they are gone forever (I know there will always be a dupe or something similar, but it’s not the same).
Hi Lucie,
For what it’s worth, if you go to the Bite website and go tho the shade selection page (don’t remember the exact name) and click on Cool undertones, you’ll get a bunch of colors to choose from (and actually a lot more cool than warm colors listed). Hope that helps.
I think this is a fantastic lip set, but I’m on a lipstick no buy. I love the corresponding colour cases
Great, now I have to buy these!!!!
Christine, do you think Bite is going to have another “vault” type set this year with the whole reformulation thing going down? It seems they’ve done mini Amuse Bouche, mini matte lip crayon, and mini Astrology vaults the past few years. I think I remember that their holiday comes in two waves.
These new vegan ones are cute, especially the packaging – thanks for your thoughtful post.
I’ve also been wondering if this upcoming reformulation (the site definitely says Jan 2020) will push their market into “clean beauty stores” such as Detox Market and Credo. Would love to see you reviewing more of those clean brands! xo
Hi LG,
I really don’t know!
I just bought this off the bite Beauty site and it was only 10 dollars for anyone who might still want it.
