Soul Blooming

NABLA Cosmetics Soul Blooming Eyeshadow Palette ($45.00 for 0.39 oz.) is the newest palette from the brand, which contains an assortment of warmer corals and pops of purple/lavender. The color combination worked well, and the majority of the shades were easy to work with–some were more buildable in coverage while some of the shimmers would do better with a primer or a dampened brush to maximum coverage and adhesion.

Honey Drip

Honey Drip is a bright, white gold with a glittery finish. It shifted from a silvery-gold to a warmer, yellow gold depending on the angle. The texture was more cream-like with some slip, but it was more like a ton of glitter packed into the pan than something with a strong base color. It applied better with a dampened brush, patted on with a fingertip, or with an adhesive base or spray to minimize fallout, which wasn’t a surprised as the brand advisd to apply it “with your fingers” or using it wet. The color on its own lasted for seven hours with some fallout.

Ingredients

Gea

Gea is a soft, light-medium orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had excellent pigmentation with a soft, velvety texture that easy to apply and to blend out. This shade stayed on well for seven and a half hours before fading on me.

Formula Overview

$8.00/0.09 oz. - $88.89 Per Ounce

The brand has a few different powder eyeshadow formulations, and because they don't just differ in finish but in price, they're listed as individual formulas on Temptalia, but for ease, I wanted to keep the same overview available so it's easy to get a big picture overview of their powder eyeshadows generally!

Super Matte Eyeshadows are "highly pigmented, completely opaque" with a "full, velvety" finish. The Super Mattes have a more finely-milled, velvety, and more substantial texture compared to the brand's Soft Matte eyeshadows, and I also found that they were much more pigmented than the Soft Mattes, too. There was more fallout during application if I wasn't careful due to the Super Matte shades being so pigmented, though. If one prefers building up coverage, the Soft Mattes would be more suitable. The eyeshadows in this finish tended to wear seven to eight hours on me.

Top Coat Wet & Dry Eyeshadows are supposed to give a "wet effect" and can be used wet or dry but are suggested to be used by "dabbing them on with your fingers" or "trying it wet." I found that these varied--some were really soft, blendable, and extremely pigmented with more fleck-like sparkle and others were drier and firmer with a thinner texture that was stiffer to work with. Most of them did apply best with fingertips or with a dampened brush over a dry brush. This finish is more interesting than the others, but I'd pay attention to the specific shades as there was some inconsistency. The wear time ranged from six to eight hours and slight to moderate fallout.

Satin Eyeshadows are supposed to have a "gentle sheen" with "the finest pearls" that will have "excellent adhesion" and be "long-lasting." They can also be applied wet or dry, and some shades did apply more smoothly or had better pigmentation when applied with a dampened brush, but the majority were easy to work with dry. The texture was smooth, firm but not too dense, and most shades blended out easily as the formula wasn't stiff to work with. Most shades lasted seven to eight hours.

Soft Matte Eyeshadows are supposed to give a "soft and delicate" effect while blending "easily." While the brand mentions "soft and delicate," the swatches they provided of the shades in this finish were showing opaque coverage in one layer, so the expectation would be for true, full color coverage, but a lot of the shades in the finish seemed more muted (which could be interpreted as "soft and delciate"). My experience was that the pigmentation ranged from medium to opaque but most shades were buildable, and I felt like buildable, matte eyeshadows are much needed and quite versatile--there's a huge difference in a poorly pigmented eyeshadow and one that can be pigmented, just requiring two layers--the latter gives one a lot of control over how it can appear in a look. The shades in this finish seemed to fade a little faster on me with six to seven hour wear on average.

Pearl Eyeshadows are supposed to "apply evenly, blend well" with "excellent skin adhesion" and "long-lasting" wear with high pigmentation. These are your m re typical shimmery, powdery eyeshadow formula with light creaminess, moderately dense textures, and are usually quite easy to blend out. Most of the shades had semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that lasted between seven and eight hours on me. Some shades were very metallic and others were a soft frost.

Middle Karma is a medium, rosy brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had rich pigmentation that applied evenly and smoothly on my lid. The texture was soft, smooth, and velvety–dense but not heavy or “over” pigmented–so it retained its intensity but still blended out with ease. It wore well for eigh thours on me.

Garden Gate

Garden Gate is a light, pinky lavender base with a blue-to-teal shifting sheen that also had some larger, copper sparkles. The base color seemed smooth and soft, but the sparkles could have binded better with the base. It had opaque coverage, slight fallout during application, but the base color blended out well. Anemone

Anemone is a deep purple with subtle, cool undertones and a frosted sheen. It had opaque color coverage with a smooth, dense texture that had enough slip to avoid being too stiff or thick in the pan, but it wasn’t quite as easy to get it to adhere to my lid with a brush as I would have wanted–a dampened brush or fingertip really amped up the intensity. It lasted well for eight hours on me.

Flowery

Flowery is a medium lavender with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation that blended out nicely. I was surprised that it actually adhered well to bare skin and built up as it is hard to find a good, matte lavender. It stayed on well for seven and a half hours on me before fading noticeably.

Philosophy

Philosophy is a bright, very light pink with a metallic sheen paired with a pink-to-green shift. It had nearly opaque pigmentation with a soft, slightly loosely-pressed texture that remained blendable but worked a bit better over primer or with a dampened brush than alone and with a dry brush. This shade started to fade on me after eight hours of wear.

Caravaggio

Caravaggio is a deep, red-toned brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had good pigmentation that was buildable to full coverage with half of a layer on top. The consistency was slightly drier and thinner compared to the other mattes in the palette, but I didn’t have any issues blending it out. It wore well for seven and a half hours on me.

Maybe. I like the pinks, corals, purples. Only Honey Drip and how metallic some shades are has me hesitating. Going on my “maybe” list for now.

I absolutely love this combo! Garden Gate layered over Flowery is stunning 🙂

I dithered over this for several weeks, finally took the plunge and I do not regret it.

I have this palette and am satisfied with the quality. No dud shades. No shades that are hard to work with. Lovely colors. 🙂

I haven’t picked up this palette yet simply because I am on a no-buy but feel like I need to get it before
too long as I love the color story. I always use eye shadow primer and frequently a tackier primer so I don’t usually have any trouble making the shadows work for me. I do love the looks of this palette and the IG looks created with it are stunning. Beautiful eye look you did, Christine.

So pretty! Fresh & happy colors! But I probably have many repeats (and on an eyeshadow diet) so I’ll oass but I love it! 🙂

Sorry if it’s obvious and I’m missing it, but is there a spot on the page where it lists what else you’re wearing on your face? I love whatever is on your cheeks!!! What is that?
