Milani Soft & Sultry 12-Pan Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Soft and Sultry
Milani Soft and Sultry 12-Pan Eyeshadow Palette ($20.00 for 0.48 oz.) contains a mix of neutrals, taupes, and deep gray/black hues. It has “smoky eye” written all over it. For someone who regularly uses eyeshadow primer and prefers to build up some of their mid-tone shades, I think it would work just fine, but my experience was that several of the matte shades were a little too powdery to remain pigmented in practice, had some fallout, and overall, the formula used in the palette was shorter-wearing than average. Used over primer, they lasted longer (12 hours), but they did show fading/creasing sooner than better formulas, even over primer.

Bare It All
Bare It All is a light, yellowed peach with warm undertones and a satin finish. The consistency was soft and silky to the touch with some powderiness in the pan, but it applied fairly well to bare skin with minimal fallout and good adhesion. It had opaque pigmentation that wore well for seven hours on me.

Diamonds and Pearls
Diamonds and Pearls is a glittery beige with soft, warm undertones. It had semi-sheer coverage, which was somewhat buildable but there was moderate fallout when I blended out this shade on my skin. The texture was chunkier to the touch but firmer in the pan, which may have been part of why it did not have a lot of pigmentation. It stayed on well for seven and a half hours on me but had slight fallout over time.

In the Buff
In the Buff is a pale yellow with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had good color coverage, though it was somewhat dusty and more prone to sheering out in practice. The texture was soft and finely-milled, but it was bordering on chalky on my skin due to the whiter base. It lasted well for six and a half hours on me before fading noticeably.

Tan-tation
Tan-tation is a light, peachy brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied evenly to bare skin and blended out without sheering out too readily, though there was a bit of fallout if I didn’t use an eyeshadow primer to help it hold better. It wore well for seven hours on me before it started to fade noticeably.

Untamed
Untamed is a grayish-black with neutral undertones and a matte finish. It was a few shades lighter than true black, but in practice, this shade and Naughty-Night were harder to distinguish unless really packed on. The texture of this shade was smoother and softer with minimal powderiness in the pan, which helped it apply more easily as it did not have fallout and blended out well. It was richly pigmented and lasted for seven and a half hours on me before I started to see it wear down.

Naughty-Night
Naughty-Night is a deep black with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. The color coverage was opaque in a single layer, while the consistency was denser and firmer compared to the other shades in the palette–definitely a little drier and stiffer to work with. This yielded more intense pigmentation on the lid but could have been more blendable. It stayed on nicely for seven and a half hours on me.

Looks like another inexpensive option for a decent travel palette…as long as one mostly wants to go with a very smokey eye. And may not feel like bringing something more coveted (and therefore, more likely to be stolen) like Viseart Chroma. As for me, I actually like this for that purpose!
It is similar to Chroma for sure!
I was really excited for this because it seemed that at last, we were getting a cool-toned palette (and by cool-toned I mean silvery and/or grey colors). I looked up as many swatches and photos as I could find and noticed that it either looked more taupe or more grey depending on the lighting. Well, I bought it, and it’s definitely more brownish-taupe to me, especially on my eyes. A little warmer than I’d hoped, and I expected more from the diamonds and pearls color. I’ll definitely still use it, just missed the mark a bit for me.
It’s a mix of warm/cool but not orange-leaning warm, if that makes sense.
Whilst there are a few shades that are quite similar to each other and a couple of semi duds, this is still a beautiful neutral palette of gorgeous shades. Milani has captured the essence of the neutral tone really well and their mix of finishes is really pleasing.
Love it.
It’s not bad at all! These types of shades often are a bit harder to do.
An almost true neutral palette with a slight cool lean in a few colors. This should please a few people.
While not 100% cool-toned… it’s definitely not the typical very warm-toned browns/berries/plums!
As of right now, I am on a no buy. Everything looks familiar. I reserve the right to make rare exceptions.
I got this yesterday at Walmart and used it for the first time today. I like it – but I did have a hard time getting Diamonds and Pearls to stick to my lid over another shadow. i didn’t try it right on top of primer so maybe that would work better or else applied with a damped brush. Overall I think it is a good palette, maybe not outstanding, but pretty good.
