Sephora Aloha, Coconut, Lavender Fields, Malibu Contour Eye Pencils Reviews & Swatches
Aloha
Sephora Aloha Contour Eye Pencil ($10.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a deep red with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage in a single layer, which was buildable to full coverage with a second layer. The texture was smooth, creamy, and had moderate slip and felt a touch wet initially, but it dried down fast enough that it didn’t feather or get into my fine lines. It wore well for 10 and a half hours on me before it started to thin noticeably.

Formula Overview
$10.00/0.04 oz. - $250.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be "pigmented" with "one stroke" application that is "waterproof" and lasts for "12 hours." I've been a long-time fan of the formula for its variety of shades that are typically pigmented, long-wearing, comfortable to apply, and easy to work with--they aren't too tough to remove nor do they take too long (or dry down too quickly) to dry. The matte shades tend to be the best, while the shimmery shades are good but can be semi-opaque at times. The glittery/sparkly shades have the most inconsistency, usually with respect to pigmentation. They tend to wear around 10 hours on me.

Coconut
Sephora Coconut Contour Eye Pencil ($10.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a soft peach with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque pigmentation in one stroke, which was creamy and smooth without being too thin or too thick. The eyeliner skated across my waterline and lower lash line with ease. It lasted for almost eight hours on my water line and closer to 11 hours on my lower lash line.

Lavender Fields
Sephora Lavender Fields Contour Eye Pencil ($10.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a soft, medium bluish-gray with silver sparkle. The texture was waxy enough that it didn’t drag, but it had chunkier sparkler and a sheerer base, which made the texture of the sparkle more noticeable when I applied it to my lower lash line. It had sheer coverage, and it did not build up well, due to the waxiness. The eyeliner stayed on well for nine hours well with minimal migration from the sparkles.

Malibu
Sephora Malibu Contour Eye Pencil ($10.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium, reddish plum with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in one layer, which was buildable to opaque coverage with a second layer. The texture was smooth, thin without being too waxy, and glided across my skin without tugging. It wore well for 10 and a half hours on me before I noticed that it looked a bit thinner.

Love these! Good for Sephora, glad their eyeliners are still performing well. I’ll pick these up.
They are lovely!
Why did they have to ditch so many of their great shades to make way for these? Go for a Ride, Surfer Babe, Tango Nights, Fairy Tale and so many other real stunners are on their way out. I’m glad 3 of them rated A’s but they’re not colours I’d wear and the lavender one didn’t do very well at all. I think T Rex or something like that is also a new one and I’ll be keen to see that the next time I am in the store.
I wish I knew what made them discontinue some and add others!
Thanks for the reviews!!! The Malibu one is beautiful and looks great on you!!
My pleasure, Jujubes!
Apart from Lavendar Fields, these are all great shades – popular colours, inexpensive and fantastic quality.
Always nice to see high performers!
I thought these all got the axe!! Looks liked they DCd most of my favorite blues and greens, but lots of great colors left. I love these pencils.
They added 10 new shades, I believe, but they did discontinue some good ones!
I swear I have a dupe for Malibu, but that list ridiculously short. I’ll have to investigate and report back.
I don’t review nearly as many eyeliners as eyeshadows, so that’s probably why!
Yeah, I don’t know what I was thinking. Nothing in my stash is like it.
Liking Aloha!
As per their formula, 3 of these are excellent in quality and richly pigmented. But, I’m really NOT a happy camper when it comes to all the truly fabulous shades Sephora DC’d to make room for these, ie; Purple Stilettos, Fairytale, Go For A Ride, Diving In Malaysia to name a few! Thankfully, I was able to buy some backups of all 4. Threw in a T-Rex, too!
Thanks for reviewing the e/l right before the extra sale. Same comment about the d/c’d colors and glad quality is maintained. Guess I have to brave gross big S sale bins for some oldies, though. Nice little S has no d/c bins. Not duped on Malibu, yay. Lavender Fields should have been more like UD Ether; shame that it doesn’t perform on three fronts: performance, as a silver, or as a lavender.
Malibu and Aloha interest me, but I do have MJ Fine Wine and Jazzberry so am likely set. But… will still see when I am in Sephora next. Eyeliners are becoming my weakness
I picked up Aloha on a whim recently and really like it. Totally agree with the A- as it’s smooth, creamy, and pigmented, but faded a little around my eyes within a few hours (most things do).
