Makeup Geek Cougar, Wild Child, Rocker Chick Plush Lip Mattes Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Cougar
Makeup Geek Cougar Plush Lip Matte ($12.00 for 0.06 fl. oz.) is bright, medium-dark plum with cooler undertones an a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a velvety, smooth texture that spread well across the lips. The color did not gather in my lip lines and looked fairly flattering (at least, compared to most shades in the range). On me, the lipstick wore well for five hours, left a stain behind, and was moderately drying.
The formula is supposed to be a “cross between a cream and a mousse” that is “highly pigmented” with a “soft matte” finish. The consistency has an incredibly velvety, creamy feel without being slippery or wet, so it felt very smooth going on the lips and lightweight. I liked the way it felt on the lips for an hour or so of wear, but after testing about half of the range, they did not wear down well with an uneven fade and significant color in lip lines. While traditional liquid lipstick can dry and look “cracked,” I noticed that despite feeling quite forgiving, the finish often was not as lip color settled into and separated away from lip lines. The formula wasn’t designed to dry down to a flat, matte finish, and it does not, so the transfer was similar to that of a traditional, satin-finished tube lipstick for me. On me, the liquid lipsticks have lasted between four and six hours on me. They seem mostly non-drying on but seemed more drying as I wore them, particularly if I wore two in a row, which would leave my lips feeling raw. Just a heads up, each tube contains a surprisingly small amount of product (0.06 fl. oz.) relative to a lot of popular liquid lipstick formulas (Kat Von D contains 0.22 fl. oz., Anastasia contains 0.11 fl. oz., Smashbox contains 0.13 fl. oz., Stila contains 0.10 fl. oz., MAC contains 0.17 fl. oz.).

Wild Child
Makeup Geek Wild Child Plush Lip Matte ($12.00 for 0.06 fl. oz.) is bright, cobalt blue with cool undertones and a cream finish. The color payoff was incredibly rich and opaque, but the formula itself did not seem to sit as well on the lips as I would have expected. The texture had a creamy, velvety feel to it–very smooth–and applied with ease, but it appeared “cracked” when I smiled as the color separated at my lip lines. The color lasted for four and a half hours, left a fuchsia stain behind, and was somewhat drying.

Rocker Chick
Makeup Geek Rocker Chick Plush Lip Matte ($12.00 for 0.06 fl. oz.) is a deep berry with cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. The consistency was drier, almost chalky in a way, and did not spread evenly at all. The color went on unevenly, and there little bits of color that balled up and looked like crumbles on my lips. The lipstick also settled into my lip lines over time. This shade lasted for five hours, left a strong stain behind, and was very drying (my lips started to peel afterward). I had to take a break from testing all shades from the formula after I wore this one.

I agree, Cougar does look flattering, I like how it looks on you.
Thanks!
Oooh! Wild Child is not for the faint of heart! Love the colour selection in this range – MUG team’s really been great at ensuring that everyone has something to choose from!
Wild Child is a a bold shade!
Peeling lips sucks. It happens way too often to me and liquid lips, so I normally avoid them!
I would totally avoid them if they did that to me – normally that only happens if I only wear them exclusively 24/7 for a few days, so I’ll stagger testing with liquid lipsticks and glosses or more hydrating lipsticks in-between!
Oh no, Rocker Chick sounds like something hellacious to wear! Your poor lips, Christine! ?
Well, my mind is made up to never try this particular lipstick. Might have some really gorgeous shades, but definitely not worth the paltry amount given, the raw peeling lips or $’s.
I’d definitely wait for more reviews on the formula at the very least 🙁 Maybe I’m sensitive to something in them, but they have a nasty after-feel… and it’s strange, as usually a product feels drying while worn (at least at the end) before it leaves me feeling that raw!
Not too crazy about the name, but Cougar is a beautiful color. And Rocker Chic looks kind of scary—-the balled up pigment looks like tiny clots on the lips, maybe can save that one for Halloween
Well, there you go, a use for a disappointing shade made practical, LOL!
I love all three!! But I hate the names, like, cougar? Really?
Add in the fact that the lovely Nancy T let me know how little is in here.
I’m over these to be honest!
I hear you on the names – some of them make me grit my teeth!
Such a shame about Wild Child, because the color is fantastic. Cougar is gorgeous.
I know! I LOVED the color of Wild Child! So bold!
I love the colors of Wild Child and Rocker Chick — too bad the performance is so dismal!
So sad! 🙁
