MAC She-Rebel Vamplify Lipgloss

MAC She-Rebel Vamplify Lipgloss ($20.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is described as a “dark blue-purple.” It’s a muted, medium-dark purple with bluish shimmer. It looks a lot bluer swatched, but the semi-opaque coverage means the natural color of the lips comes through noticeably–and I think that’s why it appears less blue and more purple on lips. Initially, I expected it to be closer to OCC Technopagan, but it really isn’t. I wish it was more opaque, because application is troublesome as the color goes on unevenly and looks patchy. It lasted for four hours and was somewhat moisturizing while worn. MAC Till Death Do Us Part (LE, $20.00) is cooler (90% similar). MAC Dreamz (LE, $18.00) is more muted (90% similar). Anastasia Purple Rain (-, $16.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Maybelline Royal (P, $7.99) is less shimmery (90% similar). NYX Betrayal (P, $6.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). Estee Lauder Shameless Violet (P, $32.00) is less shimmery, lighter, less glossy (85% similar). MAC Night and Daze (P, $21.00) is less shimmery, lighter, cooler (85% similar). KVD Beauty Televator (P, $22.00) is more shimmery, darker, less glossy (85% similar). ColourPop Be-dazzled (LE, $6.50) is less shimmery, darker (80% similar). Makeup Geek Backstage (P, $15.00) is warmer (80% similar). NYX Immortal (P, $6.00) is lighter, brighter, cooler (80% similar). Giorgio Armani #604 (P, $29.00) is lighter, less pigmented (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

MAC How Chic is This Vamplify Lipgloss ($20.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is described as a “violet purple.” It’s a brightened, magenta purple with warm, pink tones and fine violet pearl. It had semi-opaque color coverage that went on evenly with smooth, streak-free color that lasted for four hours on me. It was lightly hydrating over time. Urban Decay Bittersweet (DC, $26.00) is more muted (90% similar). Urban Decay Jawbreaker (P, $20.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Make Up For Ever 501 Purple (P, $19.00) is cooler (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Boys Don't Cry (358) (PiP, $29.00) is darker, more muted (90% similar). MAC Narcissus (LE, $20.00) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). Anastasia Grape Jelly (P, $16.00) is lighter (85% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Truth or Dare (208) (DC, $28.00) is warmer (85% similar). MAC Snuggle Up (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery, lighter (85% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Raspberry Beret (356) (PiP, $29.00) is less shimmery, warmer (85% similar). Cle de Peau Fast Lane (15) (P, $48.00) is less shimmery, lighter (85% similar). MAC Heroine (P, $21.00)(85% similar). MAC Dilly Dazzle (P, $10.00) is less shimmery, lighter (80% similar). MAC Love You Big Time (P, $10.00) is lighter (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

MAC Modern Drama Vamplify Lipgloss ($20.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is described as a “dark plum.” It’s a muted, medium-dark berry-burgundy with subtle, cooler undertones and a creamy, glossy finish. It had a slightly thinner consistency compared to other shades, and it went on surprisingly evenly for such a vampy shade that was only semi-opaque. You can see that lip lines are a little darkened, but it is very subtle. It lasted for five hours, but I had a little bit of feathering on my upper lip. MAC Baby's a Vamp (P, $21.00) is lighter (95% similar). Urban Decay Apocalypse (DC, $26.00) is darker, more muted (90% similar). Wet 'n' Wild Dark Wine (P, $0.99) is cooler (90% similar). Anastasia Black Cherry (-, $16.00) is darker (90% similar). Anastasia Berry (-, $16.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC Sin (LE, $21.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). MAC Desire (P, $21.00) is warmer (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Orchid Fatale (P, $54.00) is brighter, warmer (85% similar). MAC Perpetual Holiday (P, $24.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC Modern Lure (LE, $21.00) is lighter (85% similar). Bobbi Brown After Party (P, $27.00) is lighter (85% similar). MAC Peer Pressure (LE, $20.00) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). NARS Deviant (P, $26.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). NARS Baden Baden (LE, $26.00) is darker (85% similar). Maybelline Caviar Couture (050) (P, $8.99) is lighter, brighter, cooler (85% similar). Dior Intrigue (995) (P, $35.00) is lighter, brighter, cooler (85% similar). MAC Lust for Life (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery, lighter, brighter (85% similar). MAC Sultana (LE, $20.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). NARS Unspeakable (P, $26.00) is cooler (85% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Supa Dupa Fly (350) (P, $29.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). FORMULA SUMMARY | MAC Vamplify Lipgloss ($20.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is supposed to have intense, vivid color paired with a moisturizing, glossy, long-wearing formula. Some shades are very pigmented while others are semi-opaque, and some shades apply evenly while others are more streaky. They have a light-medium thick consistency that’s not heavy or goopy, but it’s not really thin; however, they’re really smooth and creamy, so they feel nice on. There’s no tackiness initially, and it feels a lot like lip balm to me–soft, smooth, and my lips felt supple. I find they develop light to moderate tackiness as they wear on. They wear anywhere from three to five hours and are lightly to moderately hydrating over time. The formula has strong, vanilla scent (stronger than their lipsticks; I can smell it for a bit even when it is applied, not just in the tube) but no discernible taste.

Such a shame on She Rebel. That could be super cool if it were more opaque. It is reminding me of MUFE’s Beetle! lol. Modern Drama is calling my name and I am debating between it and UD’s Apocalypse, which is on my Fall wishlist . UD scored a little higher and it is permanent, so it may topple out in the end. I’m loving How Chic is This. but, I own 2 dupes and my wallet hates me for the past few weeks of hauling and it’s almost Holiday season. So, if it were permanent, it likely would see it’s way into my stash. Oh, the tough decisions in life! 😀

Love your eye look! Modern Drama is gorgeous, nice for holiday look. Too bad She-Rebel isn’t more opaque – I love the blue shimmers in that one. I also like How Chic -it’s not opaque, but semi-opaque has it advantages. I have the dupe UD Bittersweet Gloss, which is also semi-opaque, but that means I can wear it to the office, because it’s not OTT, but still a fun color. And the semi-opaqueness makes it a nice topper for purple lippies as it won’t overpower the underlying lip color.

Well that C is making me really glad I didn’t impulse buy She-Rebel. I already don’t use my MUFE Beetle gloss very often even though I like it.

Also speaking of Technopagan, I bought some cheap lipgloss tubes and put my Black Metal Dahlia and Technopagan lip tars in them. They apply so much easier with the little doe foot, and since I can shake and stir them they aren’t as runny and don’t feather as fast.

Well I’m up the proverbial creek, because I love ALL 3! First up, I would use She Rebel over CP Grind Lippy Stick, as in all honesty, I cannot see SR being used on its own and looking all that! Uh-oh, I LOVE all 3….??

I definitely think the red one is my favourite out of the three. The purple I’m not sure I could get away with, and I’m not a fan of the pinky one… but I like how you said they were smooth and not goopy-feeling. I’ll pick up Modern Drama for sure 🙂

I still want She-Rebel – love the blue shimmer. I have a purple lipliner – a Shiseido gel one – that works well at holding onto and smoothing out these sorts of shades. Modern Drama looks fab, too.
