MAC Ever Evergreen Pro Longwear Colour Stick
MAC Ever Evergreen Pro Longwear Colour Stick

MAC Ever Evergreen Pro Longwear Colour Stick ($22.00 for 0.049 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark greenish-teal with subtle, warmer undertones and a pearly sheen. It had sheer color payoff that wasn’t really buildable; it tended to look uneven and patchy. The texture had slight creaminess but dried down quickly once applied. It didn’t seem to apply well with a brush or fingertips–I had the best luck using it directly from the tube. It wore for ten hours. Make Up For Ever S238 Blue Cedar (DC, $17.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC Green Room (LE, $17.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Makeup Geek Sea Mist (P, $6.00) is less shimmery, cooler (90% similar). MAC Colourful Life (LE, $17.00) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). Make Up For Ever S228 Petrol Blue (DC, $17.00) is darker (90% similar). Too Faced Too Glam (LE, $16.00) is more shimmery, darker, cooler (85% similar). Giorgio Armani Iridescent Jade (LE, ) is more shimmery, darker, warmer (85% similar). MAC Emerald Power (LE, $22.00) is warmer (85% similar). Make Up For Ever I-20 (P, $21.00) is cooler (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

MAC Midnight Shadows Pro Longwear Colour Stick ($22.00 for 0.049 oz.) is a deep, purpled-blue with cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had semi-opaque to mostly opaque pigmentation. The texture was lightly creamy and applied easily to the lower lash line and minimal tugging when applied to the lid. The richness of the color made the sharper edges particularly apparent on my skin tone, as it set quickly and was difficult to diffuse the edges. The color was still going strong after ten hours of wear. Kat Von D Exorcism (LE, ) is darker, more muted, less glossy (85% similar). Tarte Le Cordon Bleu (LE, ) is darker, more muted (85% similar). Guerlain Beaugrenelle #5 (PiP, ) is more muted (85% similar). bareMinerals Maven (LE, ) is darker, more muted (85% similar). Urban Decay Heroine (LE, $19.00) is more muted (85% similar). Viseart Dark Matte #9 (PiP, ) is more muted (80% similar). Tarte Midnight Kiss (LE, ) is darker, more muted (80% similar). MAC Switch Me On (LE, $20.00) is darker, more muted (80% similar). MAC Sweet Viola Pro Longwear Colour Stick ($22.00 for 0.049 oz.) is a medium, lavender purple with warmer, pink tones and a pearly sheen. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque color payoff with a lightly creamy texture that glided across the list with minimal drag. The texture, once again, sets quickly and gives one almost no time to diffuse, blend, or otherwise even out the coverage. The color wore for over ten hours on me without fading or creasing. LORAC Smoothie (LE, $19.00) is lighter (90% similar). Giorgio Armani Fatal #3 (PiP, ) is warmer (90% similar). Colour Pop Eye Candy (P, $6.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Too Faced Pussy Cat (LE, $16.00) is warmer (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

MAC Lilacked Pro Longwear Colour Stick ($22.00 for 0.049 oz.) is a muted, medium mauve with warm, pinky tones and gold, frosted shimmer. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque color payoff that was hard to apply evenly when going back-and-forth as color would lift in some places while thickening in others. The texture was quick to set, which made it hard to blend out the color. It wore for ten hours without issues. theBalm Flirty (P, $16.00) is darker (90% similar). NARS Kari (P, $29.00) is cooler (90% similar). Clarins Silver Pink (05) (P, $24.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Buxom Top Shelf (P, $12.00) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (90% similar). Laura Mercier Orchid (P, $28.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Dior Magnify #4 (PiP, ) is lighter, cooler (85% similar). Melt Cosmetics Makeup Junkie (LE, ) is more shimmery, darker, warmer (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

MAC Madly Sunny Pro Longwear Colour Stick ($22.00 for 0.049 oz.) is a bright, chartreuse green with warm, yellow undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had a lightly creamy texture that wasn’t uncomfortable to apply to the lid or lash line, and it had a slightly longer working time (not long, though, so I’d still work immediately after applying it) to blend it out compared to other shades. It wore well for ten hours on me. Sephora Jeffery (LE, ) is less glossy (95% similar). MAC Bitter (DC, $17.00) is lighter (95% similar). NARS Celebrate (P, $24.00) is cooler (90% similar). Kat Von D Exodus (LE, ) is lighter (90% similar). Anastasia A1 (Norvina Mini Vol. 2) (LE, $12.00) is less shimmery, lighter, cooler (90% similar). MAC Lemon Rush (LE, $17.00) is lighter, less glossy (90% similar). MAC Sour Lemon (DC, $17.00) is more shimmery, darker, more muted (90% similar). Urban Decay Thrash (DC, ) is more shimmery (95% similar). Anastasia Sphere (LE, $12.00) is lighter (95% similar). MAC Remixology (LE, $17.00) is darker, more muted, cooler (85% similar). MAC Savant (LE, $17.00) is darker (85% similar). Inglot #343 (P, $6.00) is lighter, brighter, cooler (85% similar). Sephora Omen (PiP, ) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (85% similar). Sephora Sense (PiP, ) is less shimmery, lighter (85% similar). Huda Beauty Sapphire #7 (LE, ) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). MAC Shock Factor (P, $17.00) is lighter (80% similar). Melt Cosmetics Game Changer (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (80% similar). Sydney Grace Green Anjou (PiP, $5.00) is darker, more muted, cooler (80% similar). Viseart Sprout (21) (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (80% similar). Natasha Denona Lethal (258CP) (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker (80% similar). MAC Royally Blue Pro Longwear Colour Stick ($22.00 for 0.049 oz.) is a medium-dark blue with cool undertones and fine, pearl shimmer. It had sheer to semi-sheer coverage; it was drier and difficult to apply even on the arm (an area where it’s easier to use stronger pressure than the lash line/lid). The texture was challenging on the lid, as it would not budge or move at all, so the area doesn’t have a blended or even look to it at all. The color, while uneven and patchy, stays exactly that way for ten hours. Stila Sapphire (LE, $18.00) is more shimmery, darker (95% similar). Kat Von D Entombed (DC, ) is more shimmery, darker (95% similar). MAC In the Shadows (P, $17.00) is more shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Kat Von D Estrella (LE, ) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). Colour Pop Etiquette (LE, $6.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). LORAC Cobalt (LE, $19.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Dior Exuberante #4 (LE, ) is more shimmery, darker, warmer (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty The Siren #6 (LE, ) is more shimmery, brighter, cooler (90% similar). FORMULA OVERVIEW | MAC Pro Longwear Colour Stick ($22.00 for 0.049 oz.) is supposed to be a “medium-to-full coverage” cream eyeshadow pencil that can be used “all-over” the lid or as “statement liner.” The formula is described as “long-wearing, vibrant, and impactful” as well as waterproof. They have decent to good color payoff with fairly smooth consistencies, but they aren’t the creamiest nor the most emollient, so some shades can tug (the more metallic/shimmery shades tended to be the more emollient, while some of the matte to semi-matte shades were drier) or pull on the lid or lash line. The formula is waterproof and fade/smudge-proof; I didn’t have any issues with creasing after ten hours of wear with any of them. I did, however, find them hard to apply and blend out, as they dry down almost instantly. They are pretty hard to use together, as they don’t like to blend into each other, whether you use fingertips, a brush, silicone applicator, foam applicator, damp brush, synthetic brush, natural brush, or the shadow stick itself. This is also true with an attempt to use it all over the lid as a single color; I had the best luck using some of the lighter shades as a wash of color and applying with my fingertip, which helped to keep the product a little more malleable. They are easiest to use as a base, but they have a drier texture that made powders look a little dry/chalky on top at times. They can work as a liner as well (eight to ten hours), and a few of the lighter shades I tried on my lower waterline with varying degrees of success (six to eight hours), though I am not sure if they are recommended for waterline usage (MAC should likely have that info listed when they go live on the website).

Of course the best rated shade (the yellow) is the color that’s the least flattering on me! Guess I will check out the dupes for the other shades….

Oooh, loving Midnight Shadow! I can see using this as a smudgey, smokey liner, perhaps? If I work fast as blue blazes! The only thing that may keep me from buying any of the other brighter shades, is what its use would mainly be for, were a lid wash and smudged liner are enough. Plus a coat of w.p. mascara!

I’ve been pretty unimpressed with this line, but Madly Sunny is such a fun color! I might pick it up since it performed well too! It looks like a nice pop of color for summer.

Waah! The one I liked the best, Lilacked, seems to have gotten the low grade. Well, thank you, I guess you saved me spending the money to get something that I’d end up having problems with. Pretty color, tho.

The colours are lovely, but the eye sticks really don’t cut the mustard. For the price and the ratings, they aren’t really good. There are lots better around eg Sephora.
Beautiful eye look Christine.

Evergreen is such a beautiful colour, but with a “C” rating, I’ll pass. Such a shame that MAC’s overall quality really isn’t what it used to be 🙁
