MAC Pretty Punk Girls Personality Palette Review & Swatches
Pretty Punk
MAC Pretty Punk MAC Girls Personality Palette ($41.00 for 0.28 oz.) contains pops of color, like blue and green, paired with glittery silver and taupe. Whatever formula MAC is using in the shimmers goes too far in the cream department that they’ve become more solidified and difficult to work with–I had really had to jab at a few of the shimmery eyeshadows with my brush to get the product to dislodge, while using fingertips did better as they softened the pan of product and made it easier for product to transfer from fingertip to lid.

Unfazed
Unfazed is a bright silver with a chunky, glittery finish. It had a drier, looser consistency with lots of fallout and poor application as the eyeshadow went on patchily. This shade was really only workable when pressed on with fingertips or with a dampened brush (using adhesive spray) to minimize its major issues. It lasted for seven and a half hours before creasing but had continuous fallout (when used dry).

Pretty Punk'd
Pretty Punk’d is a pale white with silver and white sparkle. It had a very loosely-pressed consistency that made it seem drier and flaky, which resulted in significant fallout during application. The eyeshadow was better applied with a dampened brush (particularly with an adhesive spray) to minimize fallout during application and later on during wear. The dampness helped the product go on more smoothly and evenly, too. On me, it stayed on nicely for seven hours with moderate fallout.

Denim Genes
Denim Genes is a bright, medium blue with subtle, cool undertones and a pearly sheen. It had good color payoff in a single layer with a smooth, slightly dusty consistency. I found that it had a tendency to fade on my lid (like a good pair of jeans, I guess!) within a few minutes of application, so I wasn’t able to retain the vibrancy in practice as I saw in the pan. The eyeshadow also had a tendency to get patchy if I manipulated it too much. It wore well for seven hours on me.

Ripped Tee
Ripped Tee is a vibrant chartreuse green with strong, warm yellow undertones and a soft, frosted sheen. It was incredibly dense, almost like a heavily-packed cream eyeshadow, that was firmer and difficult to pick up. I had to really push and jab my brush (and make sure it’s synthetic!) to get coverage to translate onto my skin. This was the type of shade that applied best with fingertips to help soften it or a dampened brush to give it extra glide. This shade lasted well for eight hours on me before creasing faintly.

Pin Me Up
Pin Me Up is a pale pink with subtle, cool undertones and flecks of silver sparkle. It had semi-opaque color payoff that was buildable to full coverage with a second layer. The texture was denser and more firmly-pressed in the pan, which made it harder to pick up with a brush–I had to really jab and push at the surface to get an even amount of powder on my brush. It had some fallout during application but went on decently. The eyeshadow stayed on well for seven and a half hours on me.

In My Genes
In My Genes is a medium-dark taupe with subtle, warm undertones and a sparkling sheen. The pigmentation was good, but the texture was more loosely-pressed and had a fair amount of fallout when I worked with it on my lid. This shade was easier to apply with a dampened brush, as it helped the powder go on more evenly and minimized the fallout. It wore well for seven and a half hours on me and had some fallout over time.

X-Punk
X-Punk is a medium-dark purple with subtle, cool undertones and a satin sheen. It applied several shades lighter than it appeared in the pan. The color payoff was opaque in a single layer, but the texture was incredibly dense and firmly-packed in the pan, which made it frustrating to pick up with a brush as I had to really push and jab at the surface to get product to dislodge. This translated to a greater challenge to blend it out on my lid, too, and I had to use a dampened brush to help soften the edges as a dry brush seemed to pull the product around and leave a patchy result behind. It lasted for seven and a half hours on me before it creased a bit.

Gameplayer
Gameplayer is a medium black with neutral-to-warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation with a slightly drier, lightly powdery consistency, but it was blendable on my lid and easier to work with than some of MAC’s black eyeshadows have been over time. This shade stayed on nicely for seven and a half hours on me.

Anarchista
Anarchista is a medium lavender with subtle, warm pink undertones and a cooler violet sheen. The texture was smooth to the touch with light slip, but it was thinner and more firmly-pressed, so there was no fallout and did require a moderate-to-heavy hand to pick up product evenly on my brush. It had semi-sheer, buildable pigmentation that applied fairly well as the color blended out nicely along the edges. It wore well for eight hours on me.

Another dismal effort from MAC – and I am not sure why the brand had to put two silvery shades, of mediocre quality, in such a small palette either.
Stunning eye look Christine, you really had to work hard to get this one right.
Applying eyeshadows like normal with a brush isn’t very punk I guess? Which is a shame because I absolutely love purple looks spiked with vibrant lime green and this could have otherwise been perfect.
The eye look is beautiful, but it’s too bad this palette performed so poorly. I really like the colors.
Well, this is no Raver Girl when it comes to consistent quality and performance, but the eye look you did here with it is killer! It reminds me of an oil slick rainbow!
I’m glad I resisted this one till I saw your review. I love the color scheme, but it’s just another so-so palette from MAC.
I’m normally fine with palettes where the colors are all over the place, but something seems off about this palette. But I’m not interested enough to figure out why I feel that way.
