MAC Gutter Gal Eyeshadow
MAC Gutter Gal Eyeshadow ($16.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as an “off-white grey [with a Matte finish].” It’s a very light taupe with warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was very smooth, almost cream-like, and it yielded opaque color coverage. It was harder to apply evenly on the lid, as it tended to sheer out a bit once blended. The color lasted for seven and a half hours on me. Make Up For Ever M540 Gray Beige (P, $17.00)(90% similar). Anastasia Stone (P, $12.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC Bowl Out Eyeshadow ($16.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as an “mid-tone grey [with a Matte finish].” It’s a muted, medium-dark taupe with a hint of warmth paired with a matte finish. It had good color coverage that went on evenly and blended out well. The texture was smooth without being too soft or too firm. I noticed fading of this shade after eight hours. Marc Jacobs Beauty The Free Spirit No. 20 (LE, ) is darker (95% similar). MAC Influential (LE, $17.00) is lighter (95% similar). MAC Drama in the Snow (LE, $17.00) is cooler (95% similar). MAC 300 Game Eyeshadow ($16.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as an “blackened cherry [with a Matte finish].” It’s a deep plum with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. It had rich color payoff, but it didn’t adhere as well to dry skin as one might hope. It works a bit better over a primer, with respect to pigmentation, but it didn’t blend out perfectly even over primer–there was a slight patchiness around the edges so the color looked dragged out rather than diffused. The color wore well for eight hours. Natasha Denona Groove (397CM) (PiP, ) is lighter, cooler (95% similar). MAC Hyperviolet (DC, $18.00) is darker (95% similar). MAC Bowlarama Eyeshadow ($16.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as an “bright lime green [with a Satin finish].” It’s a bright, chartreuse green with warm, yellow undertones and a satin finish. It had great color payoff paired with a soft, lightly dusty consistency that adhered fairly well to the skin without sheering out too much. The color lasted for eight hours on me before fading. NARS Rated R #1 (DC, $25.00) is less shimmery, darker (95% similar). MAC Lisa's Spikes (LE, $17.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). MAC Chartreuse Bouquet (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Oh bummer! I was really interested in 300 Game, but it’s a tough color to get right, as the dupes didn’t score that great either 🙁 But the chartreuse Bowlrama is gorgeous! Looks like a very eye brightening color
It is a hard shade to do right – and not that many of them are out there!
I see bowl out will be perfect for my eyebrows, but it’s LE. ? Grabbing some lipsticks from this collection though? Thanks Christine!❤❤❤
Awww!
Yes! I was waiting for your review and swatches. I’m considering a few of the eyeshadows as well as some other items from this collection (that I don’t need…lol). Thanks Christine.
No problem, Tammy Lynne!
Love Bowlarama and 300 Ball!
Yay!
I was really really hoping 300 Game would be a perfect strike (had to run with the bowling theme) . I have MAC Palace Pedigreed, but it has a satin finish. It’s a really great colour for me and would love to add a shadow with a totally matte finish to stash. I also have the Natasha Denona dupe (palette #10 of the 5 pan variety), but it has zilch for staying power; looks amazing for about 15 minutes and then takes a turn into the gutter.
Well, at least I’m not the only one with ND wear issues, lol!
Too bad 300 Game did not rate higher. It’s such a pretty color. But, I am very fair (yellow undertones) with light blue eyes and dyed reddish-brown hair. So, it may be too stark if it does not blend out well. It looks really pretty on uou, thougj, Christine. I do think MSC would be better suited to maybe launching 4 major collections a year. It can be awfully expensive trying to scoop up products, especially when they’re limited editions.
Bowlarama is a fun one! Too bad 300 Game only deserves a C, it’s such a great shade.
It is too bad 300 Game wasn’t better!
Wow….and not in a good way. Thank goodness these are all very easily duped shades, because with the one exception of Bowlarama, are draggy and splotchy looking. These do not appear to apply well at all. MAC can do much better than these. Easy pass.
Money saved 🙂
Gutter Gal is such a useful shade for pale people! It might be a smidge warm for me.
It would be!
The only one I like is Bowlarama. The color of 300 Game is lovely, but the patchiness makes it a fail for me. The other two shades are just really ugly putty colors to me.
I wish 300 Game was better!
300 Game was such a letdown, quality wise. The shade color is so beautiful, though. What a misnomer its name is!
What a bummer about 300 game. What a rich, unique shade
Agreed!
I kinda want 300 Game despite the rating…so hard to find that gorgeous shade without some quality issues :(((
It is 🙁
I need Bowl out and 300 Game. Oh my gosh!! they’re beautiful!!!
Enjoy ’em, Shannon!
It’s strange – but I wouldn’t normally go for a colour like Gutter Girl – but I think it would be quite a useful transition shade. Generally, these are a really good range of mattes from MAC.
I agree – would be a lovely transition shade!
These make me think if the mac cult of cherry for some reason…from a long time ago
I totally see that!
They look kind of interesting and for MAC’s mattes, the quality is kind of meh – hit and miss depending on the shades!
Seems to be the case with most MAC eyeshadows!
How does Bowlarama compare to MAC Sweet & Punchy?
The colors are similar, but the finishes are very different.
Big surprise – Gutter Gal and Bowl Out have caught my eye precisely because they’re the sort of neutrals I always fall for…which means I’ve got dupes. I have the feeling that I might cave on Bowl Out, though, even though I’ve sort of promised myself “no more eyeshadows”, which actually sounds like sacrilege but still…
Gutter Gal is a neat shade – I feel like it works well as a transition shade in cooler and smokier looks! Bowl Outer in a similar way, just the crease. Very basic shades in a way, but they can be very useful. But if you have dupes… 😉
That liner you’re wearing is bomb, what is this *___*?
