MAC Aim for Gorgeous Lipstick
MAC Aim for Gorgeous Lipstick

MAC Aim for Gorgeous Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “bright fuchsia [with a Matte finish].” It’s a slightly muted, medium fuchsia-pink with blue undertones and a semi-matte to satin finish. It had great color payoff with a consistency that didn’t tug when applying, but it had a thicker feel to it that seemed more prone to clinging to the lips and exaggerating the texture of the lips. It was slightly drying over the five hours it lasted. Bite Beauty #092 (P, $18.00) is cooler (90% similar). Sephora Twolips (14) (P, $8.00) is darker (90% similar). Urban Decay Sheer Anarchy (DC, $18.00) is darker, glossier (90% similar). ColourPop Humble Pie (P, $10.00) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). Hourglass I Believe (P, $34.00) is lighter (90% similar). Urban Decay Ladyflower (DC, $22.00) is warmer (90% similar). Laura Mercier Magenta Delicat (P, $32.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). MAC By Special Order Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “deep reddened fuchsia [with an Amplified finish].” It’s a bold, bright medium-dark pink-red with cooler undertones and fine pink pearl. It had mostly opaque coverage with a moderately creamy texture with some slip that applied evenly but didn’t slide around easily. On me, this shade lasted for over six hours, left behind a fuchsia-hued stain, and was slightly hydrating. Smashbox Red Rage (P, $21.00) is darker, more muted (95% similar). Urban Decay Psycho (DC, $18.00) is darker (95% similar). Bite Beauty Kir Royale (DC, $24.00) is darker (90% similar). Bite Beauty #012 (LE, $36.00) is darker (90% similar). NARS Dragon Girl (P, $27.00) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (85% similar). Guerlain Glamorous Cherry (822) (DC, $58.00) is lighter, warmer, glossier (85% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Luciano (P, $36.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Revlon Flirtatious (125) (DC, $8.99) is lighter, brighter (85% similar). Chanel Rouge Byzantin (LE, $45.00) is darker (85% similar). YSL Red Cassandre (84) (P, $38.00) is less shimmery, darker, more muted (80% similar). MAC Scan-delicious (LE, $18.00) is cooler, glossier (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

MAC Pressed and Ready Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “soft whitened nude [with a Lustre finish].” It’s a light peach that leans slightly warmer, more orange-based than perfectly balanced, and it had fine, gold pearl. The texture was lightly emollient, a little stiffer in the tube until it warmed up against the lips, and applied with semi-opaque coverage–which is actually more coverage than most Lustres offer. The texture seemed to highlight lip lines as some of the color sunk into mine. This shade lasted for two and a half hours and was neither drying nor hydrating. MAC Romantic Breakdown (LE, $19.00) is darker, warmer (95% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Beau (DC, $36.00) is darker (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Moody Margot (106) (DC, $30.00) is warmer (95% similar). Chanel Satisfaction (89) (P, $37.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Scandola (LE, $55.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC Fleur d'Coral (LE, $19.00) is glossier (90% similar). MAC Petulance (LE, $19.00) is darker (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Pout (142) (LE, $30.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). L'Oreal Shining Peach (P, $9.99) is less pigmented, cooler (80% similar). MAC Stylist’s Tip Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “deep violet [with an Amplified finish].” It’s a slightly muted, medium purple with warm, red undertones and a satin finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage with a lightly creamy consistency that applied without tugging and went on evenly. This shade wore well for four and a half hours and was lightly hydrating. Makeup Geek Prankster (P, $12.00) is lighter, glossier (95% similar). MAC Seductive Intent (LE, $19.00) is brighter (95% similar). Urban Decay Exhibition (DC, $18.00) is lighter (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Kaia (LE, $36.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Dior Superstitious Matte (789) (P, $35.00) is darker (90% similar). Bite Beauty Orchid (LE, $24.00) is lighter (85% similar). Clinique Grape Pop (P, $19.50) is less shimmery, lighter (85% similar). NARS Kate (P, $34.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC Stylists Tip is pretty, but I think it’s a little too close to Heroine for me to get. Heroine is a little more purple, but it tends to pull a little pinker on me, so think close enough

Surprisingly, every single one looks very good! But I am pretty sure I have a dupe for each of the 3 I could actually wear; UD Catfight and Bite Kit Royale, UD Bittersweet, and possibly Milani Fruit Punch for Aim For Gorgeous. Pressed And Ready looks impressive for one of MAC’s gazillion nude Lustre LE lipsticks, but not something I could wear.

I really like some of these shades (By Special Order and Stylist’s Tip in particular) but I can’t help wondering how many LE shades of lipsticks MAC will release throughout my lifetime. Several thousands for sure. Too much becomes overwhelming. I generally end up not buying any because I can’t remember which one is part of what collection and when they release. Thank you for your continuous effort to keep up with it all Christine!

Lille, you perfectly summed it up for me. Unless it’s so unique, I just wait to see what shows up at the CCO and bring ‘Temptalia’ with me. I do l Ike the more shiny shades yet only Stylist’s Tip causes mild interest due to a shade gap I might have in my purples/violets.

Christine, they all look lovely on you. Thanks for the review!

I love these. There’s something for everyone! Aim For Gorgeous and Stylist’s Tip are my favorites. I was hoping Stylist’s Tip would have a satin finish, but it’s still beautiful. I will pick these two up if I get the chance. By the way, Pressed and Ready looks like a great every day nude on you. 😉

I actually have dupes for the first two, though you didn’t mention Bite Kimchi, it’s a dupe for Kelly Yum Yum so it’s close enough. I really like Stylist’s Tip as a “work friendly” purple. UD Bittersweet might be a better option for how pale I am.

Aim for Gorgeous is the only color that might work for me but might be too bright. I also already have UD Wallflower which looks very bright on me. Might just be age.

Hey Christine how does Stylists tip compare to intoxica as they are both described as deep fuchsias/ pinky-reds, I wanted to get one of them and now I’m not sure which, since you didn’t list either one as a dupe is it safe to assume that they aren’t similar?

Anjali Avatar

Hey,

I love all the shades on you. You carry them on so well.
However, Aim for gorgeous isn’t simliar to Mac Zac Posen Pink lipstick(can’t remember the name) or All fired up?

Looking forward to hear from you.

Thanks,
