MAC Dreampot Lipstick

MAC Dreampot Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “light candy blue [with a Matte finish].” It’s a bright, cyan blue with cool undertones and a satin finish–there was a slight sheen to it. It had good pigmentation with a moderately creamy texture that glided on well and didn’t tug on the lips, but it could have applied more evenly. The color seemed to get in some of the lip lines on my lower lips after three hours of wear, though it lasted for nearly five in total. It was neither drying nor hydrating. MAC Instant Icon (LE, $19.00) is lighter, less pigmented, lower quality (95% similar). Make Up For Ever C602 (DC, $22.00) is darker, more muted (90% similar). Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Pool Boy (DC, $18.00) is lighter (85% similar). ColourPop Mr. Blonde (LE, $6.50) is darker, less glossy (85% similar). KVD Beauty Dreamer (P, $20.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). NYX Blue Velvet (P, $6.00) is darker, glossier (90% similar). Fenty Beauty Motorboat (LE, $20.00) is darker, cooler (80% similar). Sephora Stone Blue (104) (P, $14.00) is darker, more muted (80% similar). Bite Beauty Nearly Neon Blue (LE, $26.00) is darker, cooler, glossier (80% similar). MAC Dew Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “creamy purply blue [with a Satin finish].” It’s a bright, light-medium periwinkle blue with a cool, violet tint and a satiny sheen. It had good pigmentation with moderate slip and a light-medium density, so while it glided on without tugging, I can feel the formula move when I press my lips together, so it can be harder to avoid “lines” showing. Despite the slip, it actually applied fairly evenly with very minimal color gathering in lip lines over the four and a half hours it lasted. I did find it yielded a slightly bluish stain. ColourPop Make Believe (LE, $7.00) is darker, more muted (90% similar). Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Butch (DC, $18.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Fenty Beauty Ya Dig (P, $18.00) is darker (85% similar). Sephora + Pantone Universe Serenity (LE, $18.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). KVD Beauty Dagger (P, $20.00) is darker, more muted (80% similar). Sephora 5-0 Grind (56) (P, $8.00) is darker (80% similar). ColourPop Trill Seeker (P, $7.00) is darker, more muted (80% similar). NYX Earl Grey (P, $6.00) is lighter, brighter, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

MAC Punk Couture Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “deep blackened grape [with a Matte finish].” It’s a medium-dark purple with warmer undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation, though definitely opaque (and it wouldn’t build-up to opaque coverage either) and could apply more evenly. The texture didn’t drag or feel uncomfortable to apply nor to wear, as it had some slip (which might be why it applied unevenly). It wore for over six hours, was somewhat drying, and left behind a fuchsia stain. This is a repromote. Smashbox Mongal (LE, $24.00) is darker (95% similar). MAC Leap of Delight (LE, $19.00) is lighter (95% similar). MAC Potent Fig (LE, $19.00) is darker, warmer (95% similar). Urban Decay Jawbreaker (DC, $18.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Melt Cosmetics Recuerdos (LE, $19.00) is less shimmery, less glossy (90% similar). Make Up For Ever M502 (DC, $22.00) is more muted (90% similar). Sephora Orchid (P, $14.00) is less shimmery, lighter, less glossy (90% similar). ColourPop Leather (DC, $7.00) is lighter (95% similar). Smashbox Violet Riot (P, $21.00) is lighter (90% similar). MAC Hellebore (DC, $21.00) is lighter (90% similar). Urban Decay Pandemonium (P, $18.00) is lighter, less glossy (85% similar). NARS Soul Train (P, $26.00) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (85% similar). Urban Decay Pandemonium (DC, $18.00) is lighter, cooler (85% similar). NYX Betrayal (P, $6.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Smashbox Bride of Chucky (LE, $21.00) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (85% similar). MAC Own the Look (LE, $19.00) is lighter (85% similar). NARS Kirat (P, $34.00) is more muted (90% similar). Urban Decay Speedball (DC, $18.00) is lighter, warmer, glossier (85% similar). Anastasia #9 (Vol. 1) (PiP, ) is lighter (85% similar). Urban Decay Speedball (DC, $22.00) is lighter, glossier (90% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

These three shades are new, permanent shades that will be added to the existing line-up.

I like Punk Couture, didn’t realize there are no close dupes, but the swatch doesn’t look as smooth and rich as the latest beauties from BITE. Wish BITE would take a stab at this color

It’s funny… I feel like it’s long overdue for MAC to come out with these shades in their permanent lineup. 15 or so years ago they were the frontrunners for unique and exciting eyeshadows in a variety of colours outside of the “norm”. Now it seems they’re following the footsteps of NYX to push these colours out there (and even Bite Beauty!).

Dew lipstick looks incredible – what a colour!

According to the email notification I got on the 14th, these should be up on the site now. I personally haven’t checked, but only because the site is such a PITA, especially using my phone, LOL!

I *love* Dew! Like Punk Couture a lot. Would probably like them mixed together, too 🙂

I like the “cyan-ness” of Dreampot but have a difficult time imagining myself wearing it, not sure if it would look good on me… still getting used to wearing colors like NYX Stone Fox and Urban Decay Heroine, which somehow seem easier to wear to me than their lighter, brighter cousins… I do plan to try on Urban Decay Junkie, though, when I swatched it on my arm in-store it looked like it might be wearable, even really cool-looking.

I’m so glad you show us the non-traditional colors, Christine!

Hey Christine, it seems that only the frosts are currently unavailable for purchase online. All of the other lipsticks seem to be available for purchase online. I was able to add all but the frosts to my cart.

Man, I wish I could do pastel colors like that. I envy those that can. I’m digging Punk Couture, though!

And OMG. Totally off topic, but can I say how awesome it is that you’re wearing the custom earrings that I collaborated with Angela on? I was so happy she added them to her permanent line, but to see you wearing them makes me feel a little like a squealing fangirl.

Punk Couture is EVERYTHING I wanted UD Jawbreaker or Pandemonium to look like applied! But I have a conundrum; I’m really trying to go in a more CF direction from here on in. I dearly love my MAC stuff, however. Just sincerely HOPE that MAC withdraws from selling in China.

The other 2 shades ain’t tempting me in the least, I already have a weird purplish, hypothermic looking lip color half the time, so I don’t need help there!

I’m having a hard time reconciling the words “couture” and “punk” together. I only wish I had these when I was a punk rocker (1st wave) and that was a loooong time ago. The colors look very cool on you esp. the last one.

Already picked up Dreamboat and Dew the other week in-store (along with Deep rooted and two other new ones). Can I just say that DEW is EVERYTHING I’ve ever wanted in a unique lipstick color. Periwinkle!!!!!! Yeesssssss. Now can SOMEONE get periwinkle eyeshadow RIGHT for crying out loud??!! 😉
