Editor's Review

MAC Dreampot Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a "light candy blue [with a Matte finish]." It's a bright, cyan blue with cool undertones and a satin finish--there was a slight sheen to it. It had good pigmentation with a moderately creamy texture that glided on well and didn't tug on the lips, but it could have applied more evenly. The color seemed to get in some of the lip lines on my lower lips after three hours of wear, though it lasted for nearly five in total. It was neither drying nor hydrating. MAC Instant Icon (LE, $19.00) is lighter, less pigmented, lower quality (95% similar). Make Up For Ever C602 (DC, $22.00) is darker, more muted (90% similar). Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Pool Boy (DC, $18.00) is lighter (85% similar). ColourPop Mr. Blonde (LE, $6.50) is darker, less glossy (85% similar). KVD Beauty Dreamer (P, $20.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). NYX Blue Velvet (P, $6.00) is darker, glossier (90% similar). Fenty Beauty Motorboat (LE, $20.00) is darker, cooler (80% similar). Sephora Stone Blue (104) (P, $14.00) is darker, more muted (80% similar). Bite Beauty Nearly Neon Blue (LE, $26.00) is darker, cooler, glossier (80% similar). On me, this shade looks bizarre and not very flattering, but I didn't buy it to wear by itself. I mixed it with MAC's very dark blue-purple Matte Royal lipstick to make a pretty medium blue. This mix lasted pretty well, even through a glass of wine, but when blue lipstick starts to wear, it's a lot more obvious than with a pink, red, or nude shade. So although this combination looked nice and fun, it was high maintenance.
