Kat Von D Dreamer & Roxy Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches

KVD Beauty Dreamer Everlasting Liquid Lipstick

Dreamer

Kat Von D Dreamer Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is a bright, light-medium cyan blue with cooler undertones and a matte finish. It seemed to have a whiter base, which gave it a chalkier finish after it had dried down. It had good pigmentation, but it was not opaque in a single layer, so this was another shade that would benefit from a second layer of product (not normally something I find necessary with this formula!). For the type of color, it applied better than most, but there was visible streaking and “cracked” color when I smiled. This shade wore well for six and a half hours and was non-drying.

Formula Overview

$20.00/0.22 oz. - $90.91 Per Ounce

It is supposed to be a “long-wear, full coverage liquid lipstick with a smooth, matte finish.” Of the liquid lipsticks on the market that go and have a full dry-down, Kat Von D’s formula remains my favorite, as it is the easiest to apply with the kindest learning curve and lasts awhile.

Some shades are more drying than others, but typically they don’t get drying until after five to six hours of wear. They often wear anywhere from six to ten hours, depending on what you’ve had to eat or drink during the day. This formula is thin but not watery, has a longer dry down than most liquid lipsticks (but I noticed some of the newer shades dried to a mostly dry finish faster), and layers better than most (you can touch-up or add a second layer for more coverage).

It takes about a minute for it to mostly set, but it will remain a little tacky in places for up to three minutes so you’ll want to avoid pressing your lips together if it doesn’t seem totally dry initially. There isn’t a noticeable scent or taste. If you don’t mind the trade-off between very long, near-pristine wear and being drying, it’s worth checking out. As a bonus, these also come with one of the most generous amounts of products within the realm of liquid lipsticks!

KVD Beauty Roxy Everlasting Liquid Lipstick

Roxy

Kat Von D Roxy Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is a rich, medium-dark purple with cooler undertones and a matte finish. I had higher hopes that the formula would be improved compared to the release of it in last holiday’s set, but it was still underwhelming. It had medium, buildable pigmentation–two to three layers would work best–with a thinner texture that was slightly streaky. It did not build up as well when it was still drying, so I would recommend applying a second layer after the first layer had time to dry down. It did seem to last for nearly eight hours.

Hi Christine,
It’s always interesting to see unusual colors like that !
Are you wearing those colors all day long and going out with blue lips ?
The purple one is pretty and quite wearable.
By curiosity how long does it takes to do a test like this ? 2 days ? Or 1 day with one color on the upper lip and the other on the lower lip ? 😀

I seem to be over these non-conventional lip colors. It feels like cosmetics has been in this “phase” or “trend” for far too long.

I am ready for new innovation but really what more is there. Everyone seem to be in this highlight phase as well.

Yesterday while Sephora Christine, I debated over just about every eye shadow palette while searching up every review you had on them. I was about to pick the tarte matte pro but after applying on my face it was too matte for me so I ended up going with the ABH Modern Renaissance Palette. I’m wearing it today and while I like the palette, the fallout is insane!!

I also picked up that Tarte lipstick in Boardwalk and wearing it today and ABH lip gloss in Tara (my second tube) The Tarte it is my new everyday lipstick color I can wear when I can’t decide on a color. Tara is the one I wear in the house or out. I usually go with Smashbox Cognac when I can’t decided but got tired of only have one choice.

I also got a deluxe sample of Smashbox legendary lip in the red…I’m not crazy about the formula but haven’t worn it all day yet to really see.

That’s a rant but the point was to say thanks….I really do make my choices off of your indepth reviews.

I wonder what will be the next phase 😉 Any ideas?

The ABH Modern Renaissance palette is quite soft – I do like flatter brushes or really, really soft natural brushes with that one.

Tara is such a great color – so glad you’re able to buy that one alone! I have a couple of go-to shades like Boardwalk/Cognac are for you (mine are currently Estee Lauder Naked Truth and Too Faced Honey Bear), and I like that I have two to switch between as well!

I’m feeling very torn over Roxy. I love that color, but I am wondering whether it *could* work if one were to let that initial coat dry down, and then apply another? Idk whether I personally would have the patience, so I will wait and see whether rumors be true about Roxy becoming a permanent shade in the Studded Kiss formula as well.

Roxy is such a stunning color, too bad the formula isn’t better, and the matching Roxy lip liner didn’t score that great either, but I think the 2 combined could work

I couldn’t wear Dreamer, it would be quite nightmare-is for me, no matter what a lovely colour it really is. It’s the kind of blue that makes me look like I’m about to die any minute. Not pretty 🙂
I really like the colour of Roxy, purple is a favourite colourfor lips, eyeshadows and clothes, well, maybe not all at once 😀
A pity it applied so unevenly. the colour is quite stunning.

It’s crazy how someone’s natural lip colour can change the way a lipstick looks. Roxy looks so much darker on me, I think that’s why it appears to be less patchy on me, though you can still tell it’s not perfect when it’s wet. The way Roxy looks on you is the way L.U.V looks on me, but L.U.V applies so much better.
