Your skin tone/coloring: Light/medium

Eye product that you always smile using?
No doubt, the Chanel quads. Particularly, Empreinte du Desert. Used it this morning and wonder why I bother with anything else. 🙂

Lip product that you always smile using?
Givenchy Brun Createur. The color, the feel.

Skin product that you always smile using?
Can’t get enough of the feeling of the Biologique Recherche moisturizer after using P50 and serum. I actually do smile, it feels SO good!

Linda, I am feeling that way about Chanel’s Codes Elegants, which I love just as much as Empreinte Du Desert! I am wearing it today and it is just so freaking beautiful!

I knew it! I have been loving that one, and that’s all the feedback I need. Done. This time I’m not going to wait a year! (Enabler, you! 🙂 )

Linda, I feel the same way about the Chanel quad Candeur et Experience. As you succinctly stated, “I wonder why I bother with anything else.”

Skin Tone/Coloring: Fairest Neutral (MAC NW-05, KVD L41/42, Bobbi Brown Alabaster/Porcelain, etc) with cool-leaning features.

Eye Product for Smiles: DEFINITELY Pat McGrath’s UltraViolet Blue set now. My three favorite eye shades are true cobalt-violet, lavender, and periwinkle so finding the ultimate perfect cobalt-violet was a dream. I wish she made it so you could buy pigments separately because I’d load up on UV Blue instead of only being able to buy two kits and hopefully make them last forever. The rest of the set is absolutely gorgeous too, but that UV Blue pigment is an all-star and a joy to use.

Lip Product for Smiles: Any fun color can do this so brands like Makeup Monsters, Melt, and Sugarpill that specialize in that are always fun to use. But true smiles come from my Rouge G collection. Nothing beats putting on something so perfectly textured and colored. Plus they’re often hydrating.

Skin Product for Smiles: From the skincare aspect I always enjoy putting on my BHA and retinols because I know I’m using powerhouse ingredients that get results and I just thoroughly enjoy my nighttime skincare ritual. For color products highlight and blush in general are always fun to play with and really help take a look to its final stages and make it come alive.

Is that perfect cobalt blue in the Dark Star collection?

Also, I can NEVER find a good periwinkle shadow. Which ones do you like?

Yeap, Dark Star’s UV Blue is definitely the perfect cobalt-violet. I wish it was more accessible since it is truly a perfect balance of the two. One of my favorite periwinkles was recently DC’d and that sucks (it was Looxi’s Cake Boy from their Clueless-inspired release but their shade Woodstock is available and a lovely truer blue periwinkle). MUFE’s Periwinkle is a good one, though it could be lighter/more lavender but it is gorgeous. MAC’s Parfait Amour and Beautiful Iris are good picks. Geek Chic made my favorite LE one that I wish they’d bring back inspired by Frozen’s Elsa. But the good news is they have a ton of others like the awesome Blueberry Scone, Aluminum Tsunami, Crotch Ice (lol…wut?), Mercury Aqua Mist, Headmaster, and Hawkguy (for a deeper version that also makes a good violet-cobalt) that are all available now. Fyrinnae Snowstorm and Seattle Fog are also very pretty options. Urban Decay’s Dive Bar and UV-B both work for a more periwinkle=ish look.

I’ll look through my collection as I’m sure there are some obvious ones missing. But definitely I find true periwinkles are easier to find on the indie circuit than the mainstream one. It is a color that should definitely be made more frequently.

Oh, a very fun lip product that’s new to my kit got left out! I recently picked up the Ellis Faas “Red Set” plus a matching Hot Lips in her classic “Ellis Red” color. Ellis Faas is an amazingly talented, innovative, daring, sophisticated, and gifted MUA with a curated line of stand-out products. Her most famous color is Ellis Red, a perfect TRUE BLOOD-RED! When I say blood red, I mean BLOOD red. The first time I encountered the color, it was used on and around my lips in place of fake blood for one of the many films in which I play a vampire haha. If you swatch it on your arm/hand, you will be startled by it’s bloody appearance. The Red Set contains the original versions of the color in their Milky, Glazed, and Creamy formulas which are all superb. But my favorite is the newer Hot Lips version which is more like a classic melted lipstick but with super long wear and a demi-matte/satin finish. They’re all super pigmented and they all stain wonderfully. SO FUN TO PLAY WITH! Looks just like you’ve been bathing in the blood of your enemies 😛

Skin tone: Medium warm

Eye product that makes me smile: Vibrant blue eyeshadow! I’ve fallen in love with many over the years, especially loose pigments from MAC and Fyrinnae. My current favorites are in the Viseart Ribbons Boheme palette.

Lip products that make me smile: I like my lips in vibrant bright colors, such as fuchsia, bright pink, coral, blood orange, red coral, and red pinks and topping with a sparkling gloss makes it that much better. I blend my lipsticks and glosses to get the colors I want. Some lipsticks I am loving right now are Bite’s Chili Pepper, Palomino, and Dragon Fruit; MAC’s Damn Glamorous, Viva Glam Miley I and II, and Taraji; Givenchy Le Rouge in Magnolia Organza; Estée Lauder’s Envy in Noirish, Envy Vinyl in Burn, and all the pigmented pinks from the Envy line, such as Confidence, Powerful, and Tumultuous Pink.

Skin product that makes me smile: Guerlain Meteorites pulls everything together at the end and takes my look to the next level!

Tammy, you just created a firestorm in my brain, haha! Reminding me of just how much I love my MAC Taraji VG Lipstick and Lipglass, Damn Glamorous and La Vie En Rouge lipsticks, too! Plus, whenever i put on Tom Ford Seadragon I feel like a Queen!

Your skintone/ coloring: Medium w/ olive undertones MAC NC37 or Lancôme Teint Idole in N360, deep brunette, blue-green eyes w/ gold flecks.

Eye product that always makes you when using it: 2 *perfect* combos DO! Either Chanel Empriente du Desert quad or using MAC Sweet Heat EDES with Sable and Twinks! ?

Lip product that always makes you smile when using it: MAC Maria Moretti lipstick! Also, UD Catfight and EL Naked Truth! ?

Skin care product that always makes you smile when using it: Rose Hip Oil! Marula Oil, too! They smell so dang good! Feels soothing going on as well. Both seem to have skin healing qualities to them that go way beyond their naturally occurring scents. ?

Nancy, I have this desire to try putting Sunday Riley’s Luna Oil on top of my prescription Retin A. I just tried putting a regular oil (Seaberry oil from Fresh) on top of my Retin A, and it really made a difference. I had less dryness and irritation. Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Face Serum is the oil that’s highest on my wish list at this moment.

Rachel, I may be a 69 year old lady and I rarely post a comment, but I always check what you say because my fair skin and red hair are similar to yours. I just ordered the Paula’s Choice product and I really appreciate your recommendation. Thanks so much! Shirley in Virginia

My skin changed again recently (I’m 47 and going through peri-menopause), and Paula’s has been a lifesaver. I hope it works for you! And thanks for your kind comments. 🙂

Your skin tone/coloring: Light-medium with olive undertones
Eye product that you always smile using? It’s always changing!
Lip product that you always smile using? Wet n wild liquid lip in Spotlight Red – the old formulation. The formula is sticky but the color is my favorite. It’s such a brilliant, bright red. It just fills me with energy!
Skin product that you always smile using? My illuminating primer, Etude House’s face conditioning cream – I love how glowy it makes my skin.

Skin product that makes you smile when using: Tatcha Enzyme Rice Powder. I don’t know if it does anything and it is expensive for simple rice powder but I really love the smell and feel of it as I lather it on my skin. Lip product that you always smile using? Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creams and any Tanya Burr lip products

Your skin tone/coloring: NC15, NARS Sheer Glow in Gobi
Eye product that you always smile using? MAC Prep + Prime 24-Hour Extend Eye Base. The difference with or without is just so obvious to me. Honorable mention to MAC Fly by Twilight shadow – do not wear it often, cause it is to sparkly for every day, so when I wear it, means either I feel special today or there will be a special occasion today.
Lip product that you always smile using? I mean, having 30+ lip products to play with makes it hard to answer this question. I love almost all of them (that’s why they are there in the first place 🙂 ) Right at this moment, it is… New Ombre lip pencil by MAC from Mariah Carey collection. It’s so cute and “sparkly”, I always think of her all in Swarovski and smile/grin.
Skin product that you always smile using? Skin as opposed to face products? Then I say MAC Prep + Prime Essential Oils Grapefruit & Chamomile. I only had a sample, but I really am contemplating buying it, cause it feels so luxurious, makes my skin soft and nourished and makeup goes on really well. Face product would be my MAC Copper Face duo. I mean, the packaging is sooo cute and the quality of the product is also there, win-win!

Eye product that you always smile using? I really enjoy putting on primer. lol I use sigma’s primers and when I apply it just right on BOTH eyes, it’s like the clouds have parted and the sun is shining down on me with little flakes of fairy dust. I smile, look at my growing perfected skill of application and find the palette I want to use. When my primer is perfect then I know my eye shadow application will be great and when I look in the mirror after a few hours of work my shadow will still be fierce!

Lip product that you always smile using? BiTE Beauty lipstick in KALE. That color is so amazingly beautiful that when I apply it, I swipe my bottom lip first with a steady hand all nice and slow and get that desired opacity that you get with just one swipe; I just smile and know I am about to be fierce as hell in this color.

Skin product that you always smile using? Josie Maran Argan Infinity Oil. It’s my holy grail. Lately I’ve been trying the Murad sample set I purchased and it just didn’t do for me what Josie does. I had been using the Murad for two weeks until yesterday when I couldn’t take that harsh feeling and wanted something soft….I applied my Josie and again those clouds parted and unicorns appeared glistening with joy as they too were happy to see me and my skin happy.
