ColourPop x Disney Elsa Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Elsa
ColourPop Elsa 9-Pan Pressed Shadow Palette ($15.00 for 0.36 oz.) is a new, limited edition palette featuring a mix of shimmers and mattes that ranged from lavender to coral to burgundy. It’s one of the “cooler”-toned palettes the brand has released, and those who like their shifty shades, three are noticeable duochromes. The products performed consistently with the ColourPop formula; they were pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing with Water being the only eyeshadow shade that had real room for improvement.
The palette contains one Pressed Glitter (Flurry) and two Pressed Pigments (Awakened and Spindrift), which come with the warning that they are not intended to be used on the immediate eye area.

Cuddle Close
Cuddle Close is a pale, whitish-beige base with pink-to-lavender shift paired with a more frosted finish. The texture was more loosely-pressed into the pan and on the clumpier side, so it applied better with pressing and patting motions or with fingertips to ensure a smoother, more even application of product. It had opaque coverage that wore nicely for eight hours before fading visibly on me.

Formula Overview
$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce
The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.
The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Fire
Fire is a muted, dusty coral with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had excellent pigmentation with a soft, lightly powdery texture that remained blendable and wasn’t prone to sheering out too readily. The eyeshadow stayed on well for eight hours before I noticed fading.

Northern Lights
Northern Lights is a light-medium, warm pink base with gold-to-green shifting shimmer. It had excellent color coverage that applied well to bare skin and blended out easily without losing its intensity. The consistency was incredibly soft, so I’d use a lighter hand to prevent picking up too much product at once. It lasted well for eight hours before showing signs of fading.

Gale
Gale is a medium lavender with warmer, pink undertones and golden shimmer throughout. The texture was slightly firmer and thinner compared to most of the brand’s shimmers, so it picked up best with a moderate hand (but had no powderiness or fallout). The pigmentation was opaque and applied evenly and blended out well over bare skin. It wore well for eight hours before fading a bit.

Flurry
Flurry has a clear base with flecks of multi-colored glitter in small and medium-sized particles, including hexagon-shaped pieces. The larger hexagon-shaped particles were harder to keep in place and often flaked off during application and were the least likely to stay in place over time. It had semi-sheer to medium “coverage” (in the form of glitter) with decent standalone wear, but there was some migration/movement over an eight-hour period.
Pressed Glitters are not intended for use on the immediate eye area.

Water
Water is a muted, medium blue with strong, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that was somewhat buildable, but it was a shade that needed a primer for the added help for grip and blendability. The texture was drier, more powdery, and it was prone to sheering out slightly. It lasted well for seven and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Awakened
Awakened is a medium-dark burgundy with subtle, cool undertones and flecks of micro-sparkle over a matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which applied evenly to bare skin and blended out well. The texture felt slightly drier to the touch but didn’t produce much in the way of fallout. It wore well for eight and a half hours before fading visibly.

Ice Crystals
Ice Crystals is a bright, medium silver with cool undertones and a metallic finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage that applied well to bare skin with a smooth, even lay down of product. The texture was smooth, soft to the touch, and dense without being too firmly-pressed or too thick, so it was easy to work with. It stayed on nicely for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Spindrift
Spindrift is a deep burgundy with cool undertones and a matte finish. It was intensely pigmented with a smooth, velvety texture that wasn’t too firmly- nor too loosely-pressed into the pan, so it picked up well with a brush and delivered opaque coverage but was still blendable and easy to work with. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours before fading and left a subtle stain behind.

This *feels* like winter. So ColourPop definitely captured that vibe very well! I love it with the lone exception of that pressed glitter shade. I’d have to remove it and repurpose it for nail art. Water is a hard shade for brands to nail, so I’m not particularly mad at it.
Nancy, how do you repurpose the glitters for nail art? Do you use a brush to put them on? I think that’s a great way to make use of them.
Martha, it will be new to me, as I’ve never tried doing this before. But I’m guessing that if I lay down my polish first, then very carefully apply some of the glitter with a brush, pat it flat, then apply a gel topcoat, this may just work! Or it will be a total mess…?♀️
I love this idea! What a creative use for these glitters. I’ll def have to give it a try.
Yes, I’d like to know this, too. Sounds like a great idea!
Good idea for the glitter. Please let us all know how it works out.
I like the feel of this palette, but it definitely puts me in mind of Nabla Poison Garden which I have and love in my stash. I would love to eventually get my hands on an amazing iteration of the shade Water.
Hmm, as a cool toned palette person, I am disappointed in this palette – two reds? A very watered down blue shade and some pinky numbers.
I just feel that this is a bit of a mish mash…
I do love my shifty shades!
This is very wintry, but not something I need to own (thank goodness). Although I hate the glitters, I do love that they gave it the perfect name of Flurry.
Gale’s dupe list made me laugh and sums up my feelings.
This palette looks so amazing, I love the cold vibe around it. The look you’ve created is really beautiful, the colors Awakened and Spindrift are so pretty for fall!
I’m digging the color story here. I also actually really like the pressed glitter for the upper cheekbones for the holidays. I think I’ll get this one.
