Blushes (Over $15)

As 2017 comes to a close, it’s time to reflect back on the products I’ve reviewed during the past year and share with you my personal favorites. Long-time readers are well-aware that I have a strong and enduring love for coral blushes, but I’d say that my love for rosy coppers might rival that love these days! I tend to prefer some shimmer in my blush, even if I use a separate highlighter, so you’ll find that my list has nothing truly matte.

I can’t tell you how happy I was when MAC rolled out the Extra Dimension Blush with permanent shades in 2017!  It was a challenge not to list all of the shades as favorites.  I think NARS Blissful was one of the more interesting and complex blush shades I reviewed the entire year.  I loved how brightening and yellow-based Fenty Beauty’s Chili Mango looked on the skin.

Check out my full list of favorites below — and don’t forget to share your favorites from 2017 in the comments!

What a year for blush. How gorgeous these all are! I only scored Blissful and Wrapped Candy, but adore so many. Esp the Hushed Tone/Faux Sure family. Trying to use your dupes to cut down, and succeeding. Then it occurred to me that getting one does not violate the two dupe rule, bec my only close one is Bardot. Maybe i’ll cruise the counter to see which one is least like Bardot. Or maybe I can conquer this rationalization type of thinking. But they are soooo good! That whole Extra Dimension range is marvelous.

My choices for “new in ’17” blushes are the MAC In Extra Dimension blushes that I’ve purchased – especially Into the Pink and Rosy Cheeks, as well as Wrapped Candy. My favourite addition of all is the Dior Rosy Glow blush that I mention ad nauseum but which may have been around before 2017.

Yup – that’s the one. I do wish they’d change the packaging. The brush isn’t the greatest (it’ll do in a pinch) and I hardly need a new one each time I purchase. Hardly surprising it’s been around so long – it is SO fantastic that it might just end up replacing all my other blushes, which is really saying something since I have a lot of really nice blushes.

Yeah, I feel like the packaging could be half the size, which would probably bring down the cost! The finish on it is so gorgeous, it’s like it has zero texture on my skin. I recommend it to all my brown-eyed friends; I feel like the pink really makes brown eyes sparkle for some reason.

As anyone who’s had any contact with me will know, I am SUCH a sucker for a good blush! I’ve found a few gorgeous blushes this year although, weirdly, the only one that I think was actually released this year is the Hourglass Strobe Lighting Blushes! I have both Brilliant Nude and Incandescent Electra. Other than that, all my “discoveries” have been blushes released earlier

I somehow never got around to trying the MAC Extra Dimensions, but now that I’m seeing them again in this post I have a feeling Just a Pinch will be the one to come home with me! Fairly Precious catches my eye but I have CP Most Necessary and I don’t think I like shiny pale pink blushes, so that nixes Into the Pink.

Out of all of these, I strangely only bought Fenty Chili Mango! Which I adore, tbh! Ridiiic is another favorite, but I don’t have it yet. Tried to buy Nars Fetishised, but couldn’t find it anywhere in-store, however. A blush I bought way back in Summer, MAC Oh My, Passion! has become a quick and easy favorite go-to everyday blush for me!

MAC releasing the Extra Dimension blushes as a permanent line is one of my favorite products to come out in 2017.
I’m also happy for the Fenty Chili Mango blush because I gave it to a friend as a gift and she loves it so much.

The only one of these I got was the Chili Mango, and it’s a super base layering blush to wear under my powder. I also have Ridiic and Yacht Lyfe, and enjoy them equally (I’m wearing YL today).

This list reminded me that I was going to experiment with some blushes and highlighters I already own to try to get near the effect of NARS Blissful. Thanks for the reminder! 🙂
