Silk and Bloom

Burberry Silk and Bloom Blush Palette ($68.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a soft, medium-dark plum with subtle, warm undertones and cooler, violet and pink shimmer. The finish had a noticeable sheen, though it did not emphasize my skin’s natural texture or the look of my pores.

The brand describes the formula as “lightweight” and “blendable” that can be “layered for custom intensity” that delivers “a soft glow with a hint of colour.” It had semi-opaque, buildable color coverage with a smooth consistency that was denser but not stiff or difficult to pick up on my brush or to blend out on my cheeks. I wouldn’t consider it subtle, though, as there was plenty of shimmer and shine on the skin. The blush applied beautifully to the skin, blended out easily, and didn’t start to fade until after eight and a half hours of wear.

I noticed both Armani and YSL also say “palette” recently when what they seemed to mean was just “compact”… maybe it’s a thing? it’s confusing, though!!! 🙂

This is so beautiful, but, if it can’t be used subtly, I wonder how much I would actually use it, since I have NARS Sin and use it only once in a while… since it’s $68 and I have Sin, I think maybe I’m glad that Nordstrom ran out of it while I was waiting for more reviews…

I think you can use a lighter hand as well as buff it out a bit more, but if you have Sin and don’t use it often… if the reason you don’t use Sin is for pigmentation, I do think the Burberry texture is easier to control/work with for less coverage in comparison.

It’s partly intensity, and partly that Sin is a hair warm for use on my cheeks. This might not be cooler. I can’t really tell, looking at photos on my monitor. It looks like the only place it’s still available online is the burberry website, which accepts returns of merchandise in salable condition only — no used makeup — so at $68. it’s probably not worth the risk.

It went out of stock there while it was sitting in my cart — I was waiting on more reviews — that’ll teach me to jump faster on LE products, I guess! This one seems more LE than most. I couldn’t find it on Net-A-Porter. Neiman Marcus and ULTA only carry the Burberry fragrances. I’m forgetting now if Bloomingdale’s and Saks only had the fragrances or just didn’t have this product. Don’t know why Sephora didn’t get it. Nordstrom had it in stock less that a week. Really unusual for them.

No buyers remorse here! So beautiful! I have fair skin, for those of you like me – use a light touch. This “palette” will last me a long time, which is OK with me.

I’m so so happy this got a good review!! I absolutely do not need another blusher (especially an $80 blusher) since I picked up one of the nars palettes recently, but this is too pretty and deliciously shimmery to pass up!! 🙂 Now if only I didn’t also want the $80 Chanel highlighter…. gah!

Tatiana Avatar

Such a beautiful color! Is the shimmer an over spray the you’ll eventually wear through? Or does it go all the way through the product? I just do not wear shimmer on my cheeks at all.

Kitty Avatar

I just got this blush and tested it today. It’s pretty interesting on me. It looks plum in some lights and peach in others. I’m not sure why that is, but I rather like it. I also didn’t see any visible shimmer on me at all, even when I looked in direct sunlight. I’m wondering if I need to test this again just to make sure my eyes (or the light) weren’t deceiving me. As it is, I think it’s a keeper, especially since I had to give up Nars Sin because it has chromium in it. I do wish this Burberry blush wasnt’t so pricy.

Betty Avatar

Even though some of the dupes come close in color there is still something very special about the finish of this blush, it stands out when compared to the rest. Might just be worth it.

Sarah Avatar

Wow that is beautiful both in the pan and on the skin. I have Urban Decay’s Rapture though, which looks pretty similar (especially on the skin) 🙂

Sarah Avatar

The blush is certainly a nice color, but I think I’m going to skip this Burberry item bc the design of the blush looks like a cold sore outbreak. :X

Anastasiia Avatar

It’s so pretty! I’d love to have it. But I have Pinstripe from Thebalm which is alike Sin from Nars. This one looks more luminous than pinstripe but shade is sooo alike)

I’m wondering if you or anyone else would know if this was similar to those Bobbi Brown Sunset Highlighter Blushes from this past season….like Sunset Glow I think it was called?
Hmmm….
