Burberry Silk and Bloom Blush Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Silk and Bloom
Burberry Silk and Bloom Blush Palette ($68.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a soft, medium-dark plum with subtle, warm undertones and cooler, violet and pink shimmer. The finish had a noticeable sheen, though it did not emphasize my skin’s natural texture or the look of my pores.
The brand describes the formula as “lightweight” and “blendable” that can be “layered for custom intensity” that delivers “a soft glow with a hint of colour.” It had semi-opaque, buildable color coverage with a smooth consistency that was denser but not stiff or difficult to pick up on my brush or to blend out on my cheeks. I wouldn’t consider it subtle, though, as there was plenty of shimmer and shine on the skin. The blush applied beautifully to the skin, blended out easily, and didn’t start to fade until after eight and a half hours of wear.

Pretty, but pricey, I think…? Have their blushes always been so expensive?
It’s priced around what past highlighters/blushes of this type have been, but it is more expensive than their permanent blushes.
That is a very pretty color!
Hopefully I have a dupe in my collection! Because that price for that amount is ouch…
I hope you have a dupe, Aj!
Looks also similar to Max Factor creme puff blush 30 Gorgeous Berries.
Such a gorgeous, radiant blush shade! I was relieved to see UD Rapture as a dupe, because that is one of my absolute favorite blushes of all time. And yet, I do like this ones brighter hue a lot!
It is a lovely color! I’d even go as far as to say it was unexpectedly nice.
SO beautiful! And beautiful on you!
Aw, thanks Linda!
This is soooo beautiful. Mine came yesterday – thank goodness for Nordstrom notes 🙂
Hope you enjoy yours, Adele!
Christine, how can a company call a single shade a palette?
I’m not sure – that’s just what Burberry called it so I wanted to use the right name for it!
I noticed both Armani and YSL also say “palette” recently when what they seemed to mean was just “compact”… maybe it’s a thing? it’s confusing, though!!! 🙂
Gosh dang it… that is beautiful… I was hoping it would suck… Why does money have to be tight right now… I need that and some LE spring stuff and of course 50% of hourglass lip stylos… GAH.
Awwww! Well, at least the Hourglass GIRL Lip Stylos are permanent — no rush 🙂
This is so beautiful, but, if it can’t be used subtly, I wonder how much I would actually use it, since I have NARS Sin and use it only once in a while… since it’s $68 and I have Sin, I think maybe I’m glad that Nordstrom ran out of it while I was waiting for more reviews…
I think you can use a lighter hand as well as buff it out a bit more, but if you have Sin and don’t use it often… if the reason you don’t use Sin is for pigmentation, I do think the Burberry texture is easier to control/work with for less coverage in comparison.
It’s partly intensity, and partly that Sin is a hair warm for use on my cheeks. This might not be cooler. I can’t really tell, looking at photos on my monitor. It looks like the only place it’s still available online is the burberry website, which accepts returns of merchandise in salable condition only — no used makeup — so at $68. it’s probably not worth the risk.
I bought mine from Nordstrom, FYI! 🙂
It went out of stock there while it was sitting in my cart — I was waiting on more reviews — that’ll teach me to jump faster on LE products, I guess! This one seems more LE than most. I couldn’t find it on Net-A-Porter. Neiman Marcus and ULTA only carry the Burberry fragrances. I’m forgetting now if Bloomingdale’s and Saks only had the fragrances or just didn’t have this product. Don’t know why Sephora didn’t get it. Nordstrom had it in stock less that a week. Really unusual for them.
Gah! That sucks.
I’m guessing if Nordstrom had it and it wasn’t Nordstrom exclusive, Sephora will eventually get it… Burberry stuff seems to launch at very odd times (e.g. super late) depending on the retailer. I was genuinely surprised to see Nordstrom have it when Burberry did.
Duped, but very sorry. This is phenomenal.
It is a gorgeous color 🙂
No buyers remorse here! So beautiful! I have fair skin, for those of you like me – use a light touch. This “palette” will last me a long time, which is OK with me.
Happy to hear you’re loving it, Mary!
That is absolutely stunning! So pretty on you and love the eye look with the new UD!
Thank you, Michele!
Thanks for the review Christine! I’m extremely excited about this product!
My pleasure! xo
Oooooooh that color is PRETTY. Unfortunately (or fortunately!) there is just too much shimmer to make me run out and buy it.
Oh, darn! 🙁
I’m so so happy this got a good review!! I absolutely do not need another blusher (especially an $80 blusher) since I picked up one of the nars palettes recently, but this is too pretty and deliciously shimmery to pass up!! 🙂 Now if only I didn’t also want the $80 Chanel highlighter…. gah!
Between the two, Chanel’s Camelia de Chanel is a lot more dupable, IMO – especially since it’s a highlighter so you probably won’t wear it at full opacity!
that’s very true… I like your logic!! 🙂
Such a beautiful color! Is the shimmer an over spray the you’ll eventually wear through? Or does it go all the way through the product? I just do not wear shimmer on my cheeks at all.
It is definitely a more shimmery blush – it does go through (it didn’t seem like there was an overspray at all).
On one hand that’s a bummer, because I avoid shimmer and it’s such a beautiful color. On the other hand I just saved a lot of money.
Why do they call this “a blush palette”? It looks like it’s just one blush – a very pretty one but still just the one. Am I missing something?
I don’t really know why they do it – the only thing I could think of is to them the compact is a palette.
I just got this blush and tested it today. It’s pretty interesting on me. It looks plum in some lights and peach in others. I’m not sure why that is, but I rather like it. I also didn’t see any visible shimmer on me at all, even when I looked in direct sunlight. I’m wondering if I need to test this again just to make sure my eyes (or the light) weren’t deceiving me. As it is, I think it’s a keeper, especially since I had to give up Nars Sin because it has chromium in it. I do wish this Burberry blush wasnt’t so pricy.
It sounds like it is very pretty on you! I didn’t quite get to peach, but I had that warmer/cooler effect of it on me!
Occasionally, there’s a cosmetic product that’s so pretty that I feel like it short-circuits my brain.
Haha!
Even though some of the dupes come close in color there is still something very special about the finish of this blush, it stands out when compared to the rest. Might just be worth it.
It is a nice one!
Exactly the thoughts…its so gorgeous the dupes cant completely dupe it….
This looks beautiful on you Christine! Your entire look is amazing.
Thank you, Deborah!
Beautiful. But I would never spend $68 on a single blush.
It is a lot to spend on a single item!
Thank you for showing the front of the packaging! I appreciate that so I can find it quickly in the shop or online.
Sure thing!
(groan) soooo pretty, love the color and finish, but I can’t justify $70 for a blush
I understand – it is a lot to put towards one shade!
Wow that is beautiful both in the pan and on the skin. I have Urban Decay’s Rapture though, which looks pretty similar (especially on the skin) 🙂
Rapture is definitely close enough!
I really like your eye look. Is there a chance you will be writing a tutorial for it?
Sorry, I don’t do tutorials!
The blush is certainly a nice color, but I think I’m going to skip this Burberry item bc the design of the blush looks like a cold sore outbreak. :X
Gotcha!
Saw the swatch on IG last night, so pretty!
Yay!
Very pretty. And what a vibrand Un-Burberry-esque shade! The swatch is almost a bit duo-chromatic!
Vibrant* (Hmpf)
Almost!
This color swatches beautifully! I wish it wasn’t so expensive, but this is Burberry after all.
It does!
It’s so pretty! I’d love to have it. But I have Pinstripe from Thebalm which is alike Sin from Nars. This one looks more luminous than pinstripe but shade is sooo alike)
Just add a little pink highlighter on top of Pinstripe and voila!
It is a beautiful blush! I already own rapture and use it often ?. I’m so fair that I have to cheer it out. Not sure the subtil difference between them could then even show!
It probably wouldn’t once you sheer it out!
Wow, that is absolutely stunning! I love the color and the finish.
They did a nice job on this one!
I’m wondering if you or anyone else would know if this was similar to those Bobbi Brown Sunset Highlighter Blushes from this past season….like Sunset Glow I think it was called?
Hmmm….
Will it come back? It’s sold out at Burberry and Nordstrom.
Possibly keep an eye out for other retailers who offer it – usually if it’s sold out at a retailer, they don’t restock!
It’s in stock right now on the Bloomingdale website!
