MAC Hard to Get & Hushed Tone Extra Dimension Blushes Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Hard to Get
MAC Hard to Get Extra Dimension Blush ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a deep brown with warm, reddish undertones and a pink sheen. I was nervous about this shade, as darker brown blushes are often difficult to apply and blend out, but this blended out quite nicely. It wasn’t quite as effortless as other shades in the range (but those have been particularly blendable!), but it was still a very easy blush to work with. It had rich, opaque pigmentation that had a luminous finish that did not accentuate my skin’s texture. The color wore well for ten hours on me.
The Extra Dimension Blush formula is supposed to have “long-wearing colour with prismatic reflections” that wears for “10 hours.” The formula is typically very pigmented with a soft, smooth texture that’s firmer in the pan but not difficult to use–I had no issues grabbing color with even my softest brushes–and has no dustiness or powderiness in the pan. The blushes are usually blendable with a luminous glow on the cheeks that did not emphasize my skin’s natural texture. With MAC’s newly-added permanent shades, the wear time has ranged from eight to ten hours.

Hushed Tone
MAC Hushed Tone Extra Dimension Blush ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a slightly muted, medium-dark reddish copper with warm undertones and soft pink and gold pearl. This was one of the less shimmery shades within the new permanent range of colors, but it still had a lovely, luminous glow. It had fantastic pigmentation, while the powder was soft, smooth, and blendable without being dusty or powdery. Despite being very pigmented, I had no trouble using a lighter hand for less coverage or diffusing and sheering out the color more once on the cheeks. The blush started to fade after eight and a half hours of wear.

Both of them are really gorgeous, but Hushed Tone has caught my eye more. Another one to add to the list then 😀
These are hard to resist 🙂
Hushed Tone is coming home with me this morning. Just love it for my skin tone. Was waiting for the review to purchase it. Thanks Christine.
No problem, Lily! 🙂
Well poo! The one I really love, Hushed Tones, is also one I’ve got fairly close dupes of! Pink Grapefruit and Highlight The Truth are both favorites of mine, although my Pink Grapefruit appears cooler than this? I know it’s had a few variations already, seems to have gone cool-toned again.
Aww, darn! Well, should you ever finish either of those… LOL!
Hi Nancy!
This is what I did, LOL! I swatched both Hushed Tones and Sweets for my Sweet in the store and brought them home. (SO pretty!) I kept the swatches on my hand, and at home swatched blushes I already own to compare. They were *so* close I brought back the two I bought. Sad. These blushes are lovely, but so is what I already own. 🙂
Hard to get will be hard to pull off for some skin tones. I almost looks like dirt. I should know. 😉
Yeah, it is not going to be a shade for everyone, but I’m so glad it blended out well!
These are all so gorgeous! Even love the darker colors, which are probably too dark for me, but will swatch in store
Hard to get looks like a natural flush! I love that. I need some pink blushes most I have are coral colors. So hard to pick!
I think I’m gonna hafta go into Mac to decide?
This range just looks so promising overall! I think they did a great job on this – I’m loving the swatches almost as much as my MSFs!
I already have Fairly Precious coming in the mail but I’m so tempted by Hushed Tone now, even though I have LG Pink Grapefruit. These blushes are all so gorgeous.
Gorgeous shades for those who can wear them. Pretty good value I think.
Happy Easter Christine and I hope you get a break.
Loving “Hard to Get”. As a chocolate-y lady myself, I find it hard to find a brown-based blush that’s deep enough and has some interesting dimension to it. I swatched it today and will buy when my makeup buying hiatus is up!
Hushed tone is so pretty… but I will resist, for now 🙂
They’re both so pretty!! I want them both. Especially Hard To Get. I know it’s going to look amazing on deeper complexions
Too warm for me but man I’m glad these are maintaining quality throughout!
I love Hushed Tone, but then I was thinking it looks similar to Clinique Fig Pop, one of my favorites. I compared them on your site, but I can’t decide if I can justify the difference. What do you think Christine?
I actually really love Hard to Get. I am NC50 in MAC, so it shows up very coppery and sun kissed on me. The lighter colors all look ashy when swatched on my skin tone, so I am glad they have a variety of shades to cater to everyone.
I’m wondering how close are MAC Hushed Tone and MAC Pleasure Model from the MAC Nutcracker Sweet Copper Face Compact…

I already did it! ? ?
