MAC 4Eva Lipstick
MAC 4Eva Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “creamy light purple [with a Matte finish].” It’s a muted, medium-dark purple with cool undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had good color coverage, but it would need another layer or so to get fully opaque coverage out of it. The consistency didn’t drag or tug on the lips when applied, but it didn’t slide around easily. The color lasted for five and a half hours, was lightly drying after four hours of wear, and did creep into lip lines slightly. Sephora Trippin (50) (P, $8.00) is lighter (90% similar). ColourPop Fluke (P, $7.00) is lighter (85% similar). ColourPop Lemon Drop (LE, $6.50) is warmer (85% similar). Anastasia Violet (LE, $20.00) is darker (80% similar). Smashbox Action (P, $21.00) is lighter, warmer (80% similar). Bite Beauty Taro (LE, $26.00) is darker, more muted, warmer (80% similar). ColourPop Be-dazzled (LE, $6.50) is darker (80% similar). KVD Beauty Roxy (P, $19.00) is darker, glossier (80% similar). ColourPop So Wavy (LE, $7.00) is darker, cooler (80% similar). Bite Beauty Lavender Jam (DC, $26.00) is darker, cooler (80% similar). Urban Decay Twitch (P, $18.00) is warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
MAC Lavender Jade Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “dirty mauve with gold pearl [with a Matte finish].” It’s a medium, lavender purple with subtle, cool undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had good pigmentation, though not fully opaque, with a creamy, velvety consistency that glided on without tugging but was a little thicker overall. I found it slid into my lip lines after three hours of wear, but it was creamy enough that I could smooth the color back out if I rubbed my lips back-and-forth. The color lasted four and a half hours in total and was neither drying nor hydrating. This shade was previously released as a limited edition color, and the permanent version is a bit darker. ColourPop Brills (LE, $7.00) is warmer (90% similar). NYX Violet (P, $6.00) is darker (85% similar). ColourPop Koala (LE, $6.50) is darker, glossier (90% similar). Maybelline Lilac Flush (725) (P, $7.49) is lighter, warmer, glossier (85% similar). MAC Strutting Fabulous (LE, $19.00) is darker (90% similar). Pat McGrath Faux Pas (P, $38.00) is darker (90% similar). Urban Decay Vanity Kills (DC, $18.00) is lighter, more muted, cooler (85% similar). MAC Dodgy Girl (LE, $19.00) is lighter (90% similar). MAC Love & Cherished Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “creamy light purple [with a Cremesheen finish].” It is a soft, light lavender with cool undertones and a very fine pearl and light sheen. The texture had that slight firmer consistency of a Cremesheen until it warms up against the lips, then it gets softer and glides on easily. It looked more like a Lustre on, as it was semi-sheer, uneven, and tended to emphasize every flaw on my lips. This shade lasted for three hours and was neither drying nor hydrating. NYX Playdate (P, $6.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). MAC Lavender Whip (LE, $19.00) is warmer (90% similar). MAC Fresh Amour (LE, $19.00) is lighter, more pigmented, cooler (90% similar). MAC Viva Glam Nicki 2 (LE, $19.00) is less shimmery, lighter, brighter (95% similar). MAC Weekend 2 (LE, $19.00) is less shimmery, more pigmented (95% similar). Bite Beauty #005 (LE, $36.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Dior Cloudy Matte (380) (LE, $35.00) is darker, cooler (85% similar). MAC Courting Seduction (LE, $19.00) is less shimmery, more pigmented (90% similar). Maybelline Lilac Flush (725) (P, $7.49) is brighter, more pigmented, warmer (85% similar). MAC Cold Front (LE, $19.00) is more shimmery, darker, less pigmented (85% similar). Bite Beauty Violet Icing (P, $24.00) is more shimmery, darker, cooler (80% similar). MAC Sugar Cookies (LE, $17.50) is more shimmery, lighter (80% similar). ColourPop Brills (LE, $7.00) is darker, brighter, more pigmented (80% similar). These three shades are new, permanent shades that will be added to the existing line-up. It seems that many stores have these shades available for purchase, but as of the posting date of this review, I did not see them available online yet.

I’m surprised MAC didn’t make COURTING SEDUCTION permanent instead because at least that shade has colour payoff compared to this Love & Cherished. Pastels are hard to get right in any formula. The Cremesheen formula (which I like) is more like a Glaze formula with this shade.
I love the fact that Brills is a dupe. 😉
Love & Cherished is an odd one, I think. Too glossy, I guess…
I like the color 4EVA, and there are no close dupes, but not sure if it will agree with my skintone/undertones
It could be a harder-to-wear shade for some skin tones, but I’m sure the right eye/cheek combo would make it work!
4Eva looks so dayum cool and refreshing! The other 2 are likely too light to look any degree of wearable on me, I think. Although, I am really in LOVE with Lavender Jade….?
It is a fun one 😉
Perhaps in celebration of Prince, I’m drawn to 4Eva. Love your eye look, too.
Thank you, Chris!
I’m so happy they made Lavender Jade permanent. I missed out on it last time, and I really want it. I love 4eva, too. Cherished is dreadful on it’s own, but it might make a pretty topper. I could see getting use out of a lavender sheen.
I’m thrilled to see permanent purples in MAC’s range now!
Wish I could wear cool purple lipsticks. 4Eva is a color that I I love but doesn’t look good on my lips.
Oh no! 🙁
Definitely not my kind of colors. 4Eva looks nice on you though, you wear it well.
Thank you!
I’ve yet to actually see Lavender Jade in person, but I always wonder about the “gold pearl” in the official description. I can never see it in swatches, and I noticed that Christine doesn’t mention it in her description of the color. So, is it there? At all?
IMO, it’s not at all, and the description sounds completely wrong – the funniest part is that it is the same description used last time it was released, too!
Ah, okay. I thought so. Thanks for the response, Christine! 🙂
These purples are un wearable on me. They are way to cool tone. Hopefully someone else can pull off these colors.
Oh, drats!
4eva is quite nice.
It is!
