Viseart Warm Mattes (10) Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Warm Mattes (10)
Viseart Warm Mattes (10) Eyeshadow Palette ($80.00 for 0.84 oz.) is an unabashedly warm-toned palette filled with a mix of beige, brown, orange, and red. There are a lot of yellow and orange-based shades here. The palette worked well on its own, but it was easy to incorporate with other Viseart palettes as well. Overall, the quality was consistent with my past experience with Viseart’s matte formula–pigmented, long-wearing, and blendable.

Formula Overview
-
The eyeshadow formula is supposed to be "pigment[ed]" with "smooth and even application" that is "long-lasting." The matte shades are typically semi-opaque to opaque but buildable with soft, velvety textures that can sometimes be a little powdery or slightly firm, depending on the shade. I find that the mattes are often best suited to someone who likes control over pigmentation and may prefer to build up color; they regularly perform better in practice than just swatched on the arm as well.
The shimmer shades range from satin to metallic, and the more metallic shades tend to feel creamier to the touch, while the satin ones have a fine pearl to them that looks almost melted on the lid once blended out. Both the mattes and shimmers are blendable and easy to work with. Most of Viseart's eyeshadows wear between seven and nine hours on me.

Warm Mattes #9
PiPPermanent in Palette.
Nutmeg (Warm Mattes #10)
Warm Mattes #10 is a muted, medium-dark brown with subtle, reddish undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a soft, lightly dusty texture. This was one of the lesser shades in the palette, though it was by no means bad–it was buildable and still very blendable, so I didn’t notice its shortcomings when working with it.

Mocha (Warm Mattes #11)
Warm Mattes #11 is a muted, dark brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The color payoff was nearly opaque, while the consistency felt soft, smooth, and just a touch dusty. I didn’t notice fallout when applying it to the lid, though, and it diffused and blended in the right places without issue. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me.

Mocha (Warm Mattes #11)

Brick (Warm Mattes #12)
Warm Mattes #12 is a deep, muted red with warm undertones and a matte finish. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, velvety texture that applied and blended out nicely on the skin. Though it was a richer, deeper shade, it was never difficult to use, whether I used it on the lid or in the crease. This shade started to fade after nine hours on me.

This palette is such a winner. I was really worried I was going to ‘need to have’ this, but thankfully, after seeing your swatches, I noticed that while it is a GORGEOUS selection, I do actually have the majority of these shades. Viseart is a very smart brand in the way they package their products. It’s almost deceptive: they look very understated (the packaging itself isn’t exactly LOADED with glitz and glam) but the arrangement of the colors inside is almost hypnotic. I’ve noticed this with a couple of their palettes, especially the Editorial Brights. They seem to be laid out in a way that just DRAWS you in. I’m really thankful for this brand discovery from 2016!
The packaging is functional, and I’ve traveled with my Visearts several times, and they’ve held up well!
That’s a perfect way to describe the design of the palettes. I meant to say they appear more minimalistic in appearance. But you are right about the sturdiness of the palette — I took my Dark Mattes to a friend’s house the night it came in and it bumped around a bit. I didn’t notice any powder kickup or scuffing on the palette. Good stuff!
The packaging is geared towards professionals. It makes it easy to locate certain palettes in your kit when the top is clear. They also made them that way so that they are more indestructible in case a palette is dropped by accident. They really have thought of everything. It’s actually a really good deal at just under $7 a shadow. This one in particular is laid out for different skin tones: 3 for base, 3 lid colors, and 3 eye contours, as well as 3 transformative shades (far right column) in case you want to add warmth or heat to any of the other shades, they are also gorgeous on their own. 🙂
Nice quality, but I’d skip it for my coloring.
Gotcha! 🙂
I’m pretty well duped, except for the yellow which I really like! Maybe will put MUFE Mustard on my list…
Glad you have some dupes this time around, Ginny!
Yes, this is for me. Light to medium warm neutrals are my core, and I’d use every shade in this set so a high ROI for me. I was going to wait until the next credit card cycle but don’t think I’m going to make it. So happy this is permanent.
Enjoy it when you get it, AB!
3/5, 9/10. Reeeeal close. But that says to me that halo and gradient should be very easy with this palette. Agree that the color pops ( no U intended) are the hits here. I’m pretty duped up (surprisingly) though this is majorly stunning. It’s really an epitome of that color spectrum. Another bravo for Viseart.
Oh, yes, the nuance in undertone/depth makes this incredibly easy to use on its own to get very blended looks!
Between this and CR Queen of hearts palette, which one would you recommend?
I would get the one that you would use more often! They are both good palettes, but they are quite different as Viseart Warm Mattes is all matte.
*swoon*
Yep, this is SOOOOO me! Unfortunately the price tag isn’t, lol.
Aww!
It looks wonderful and I think it will do well! Somehow I am less impressed by my Viseart matte eyeshadow palettes though. I prefer Makeup Geek matte shadows, which always surprises people!
Interesting!
If only I didn’t have so many dupes and similar family of shades already, I would SO buy this in a New York minute!
This is just such a well done palette. Very cohesive and very nicely pigmented for the bulk of its shades.
I only really lack good, solid yellows. Probably not a good enough reason to spring for this, though.
Awww! Darn!
Brilliant! Although I am pretty fair I am already sure to grab it at some point. ?
I agree that the layout is really well done. Viseart palettes never miss to inspire me and make me try new color combinaisons!
They have some great combinations!
I have dupes galore but glad this got a great score for those interested ! LOVE your eye look! Reminds me of a sunset
Thank goodness for dupes — $80 saved!
Hi Christine,
Do you think there are a few shades in the palette that are very similar to each other? Thanks!
Hi Christina!
Any shades that are similar are listed on each shade’s respective dupe list!
Thank you! 🙂
I wish I could get this with just yellow/orange/red shades. Those are the hard to find colors. I could do without all the browns.
That is too bad! 🙁
Absolutely beautiful, especially the oranges. I have tons of warm neutrals though, so I’m gonna pass.
They are lovely together!
I wish I didn’t have so many dupes for this so I could justify getting it.
I hear ya, Beth!
I have similar colors already. But since I own almost all of Viseart palettes , I’m adding this one to my collection. Love the eye look you did with this, so bright and pretty!
Thank you, Denise!
i just picked up some warm toned pressed shadows from colourpop , so i don’t NEED this right now , BUT it’s definitely on my wishlist !
love the look you created .
Thanks, Nicole! 🙂
Whilst this is not a palette that I would purchase at all, far too warm toned for me, I do appreciate the quality and range of the warm matte shades.
Always nice to see a good palette out!
What a great quality palette! And I love that warm glow look you’ve done. I could pull off the paler browns, the peach and possibly the orange and dark red but not the dark browns or the yellow so it’s a pass for me. But interesting to see Viseart’s take on the warm mattes trend!
I’m heartbroken! This palette was absolutely made for me, but I have straight up dupes, and close-enough dupes, for all but one color. Waaaaaaaaaah! 🙁
Ive been curious about the Viseart palettes for quite some time. This one is beautiful but I have such a difficult time choosing which palette to begin with. I finally found a small 8 color palette that contains 4 mattes and 4 shimmers. It’s called appropriately “Petit Palette”. I love it. Amazing quality and beautiful colors. I plan to by a full sized palette a few times a year now.
I am happy that a few are dupes for MAC Kid – never got around to getting that single and now it’s discontinued (I have it in one of the Nutcracker Eye palettes, but still . . ). I bought this pretty much just for the oranges and reds. I don’t have a whole lot in my stash and this rounds it out nicely.
Hi Christine,
I was wondering if you know anything about its rumored formula change. I heard some people say it can be quite chalky. Also I was wondering, from your experience, how would you rate this matte eyeshadow compared to Makeup Geek matte eyeshadow (spreadable-ness , coloration, texture, longevity, etc).
I don’t – I believe any changes were made were done years ago, and I’m not sure I have more than one palette that has a different list (at least, that I recall when I heard murmurings about it) – which is probably the original matte palette.
My rating system is the same – an A is an A is an A – assuming the claims for the formulations are similar, which they are for Makeup Geek and Viseart eyeshadows, so it would really come down to individual eyeshadows as some Makeup Geek shades are great and others are misses. Viseart is more consistent for me on the whole!
