Urban Decay x Alice Through the Looking Glass Lipsticks Review, Photos, Swatches (Part 1)
Urban Decay Alice Through the Looking Glass Lipstick
Urban Decay Alice Alice Through the Looking Glass Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “sheer nude with pink shift.” It’s a light-medium peachy-orange with warm undertones and iridescent pink shimmer. The warmer base paired with the finer, cooler shimmer made it harder to dupe, and the sheer coverage will make it one of those shades that can look different from person to person. The texture was creamy, lightweight, and moderately hydrating, though it only lasted for two and a half hours on me. Chanel Jersey Rose (DC, $34.00) is warmer (85% similar). Tarte Bellini (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery, warmer (85% similar). Urban Decay Fever (P, $18.00) is more shimmery (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Urban Decay Mad Hatter Alice Through the Looking Glass Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “bright purple shimmer.” It’s a slightly brighter, medium-dark purple with cooler undertones and fine, metallic shimmer. The shimmer wasn’t particularly gritty or noticeable when I pressed my lips together, but I could feel the texture of the shimmer content in the bullet when applying initially. It had semi-opaque color payoff that could have applied a bit more evenly. This shade lasted for five hours and was very lightly hydrating. MAC Model Behavior (P, $19.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Urban Decay Mad (DC, $18.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). MAC Violetta (PiP, $19.00) is darker, more muted, cooler (85% similar). MAC Foiled Rose (LE, $19.00) is lighter (90% similar). Sephora Cosmic Purple (105) (P, $14.00) is warmer (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Lavender Extreme (LE, $57.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). MAC Own the Look (LE, $19.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Urban Decay Plague (DC, $18.00) is less shimmery, darker, glossier (90% similar). Bite Beauty Grape Glaze (P, $24.00) is darker (85% similar). Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Alt-Girl (DC, $17.00) is darker, cooler, glossier (85% similar). MAC Royal Hour (LE, $19.00) is more shimmery, darker (85% similar). MAC Atomized (LE, $21.00) is less shimmery, darker, less glossy (85% similar). Urban Decay Mad (P, $18.00) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (90% similar). Urban Decay Flashback (P, $18.00) is darker, cooler, less glossy (85% similar). Ciate Elektra (P, $22.00) is darker (85% similar). Urban Decay Backfire (DC, $18.00) is lighter, more muted (80% similar). Too Faced Pixie Stick (LE, $22.00) is darker, cooler, glossier (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Urban Decay Time Alice Through the Looking Glass Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “gunmetal navy with silver shimmer.” It’s a deep, purpled-blue with cool undertones and gold micro-shimmer and sparkle. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque coverage with a thin, emollient consistency that was hard to keep in place as it would create “streaks” if I pressed my lips together, while color gathered in lip lines noticeably within an hour of wearing it. I would recommend wearing a lip liner or primer with this one to help it apply more evenly. It lasted for four hours and feathered very slightly on me. Urban Decay Time (P, $18.00) is more shimmery, darker, less glossy (90% similar). NARS Unspoken (P, $27.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). KVD Beauty Poe (P, $19.00) is darker (90% similar). Smashbox Skinny Jeans (P, $21.00) is warmer (90% similar). Urban Decay Frostbite (LE, $18.00) is warmer (85% similar). MAC Anything Once (LE, $19.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Sephora Ice Breaker (46) (P, $8.00) is darker (85% similar). MAC Moon Landing (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery (85% similar). KVD Beauty Poe (DC, $21.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Fenty Beauty No Chill (LE, ) is more shimmery, brighter, warmer (85% similar). Maybelline Midnight Blue (DC, $7.49) is darker (85% similar). Sephora City Beat (45) (P, $8.00) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (80% similar). Smashbox Deep (P, $21.00) is darker (80% similar). Ciate Iconic (P, $19.00) is darker (80% similar). Bite Beauty #054 (P, $18.00) is less shimmery, darker (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Now that I’ve seen Alice on you, I think I have to get it. It’s very interesting and subtle.
Awesome!
Didn’t think there was anything in this collection to tempt me, but I really like the lipstick Alice. Don’t think I have anything quite like it.
Don’t see too many duochromes lipsticks!
excellent point..exactly!!! and why not??
These look like they’d work best as lipstick toppers for layering.
Probably! 🙂
I really need Madhatter in my life! On you, Alice reminds me of something I have in my stash. I’ll have to check but I think it’s a Bobbi Brown gloss. I’m kind of surprised, I also like Time. I’ll have to think about it (kind of depends on what I buy between now and the release). Thanks for your review! (Oh and as a side note, if they’re not all sold out already, PayPal Digital Gifts on Ebay was selling a $30 Sephora gift card for $25 – sent via email. I posted it on my personal FB page this morning but I don’t think anyone here is on my page (it’s not a private page). I bought $100 worth this morning. Just mentioning it in case some of your readers want to get one for a future purchase…like Alice 😉 )
Time is interesting!
These look really lovely on you. Love Mad Hatter 😀 x
Thank you, Christine!
I actually like how Alice looks! Very subtle, but still noticeable. I may grab that one.
It has a pretty sheen for sure!
I actually quite like Alice, it’s a unique color but still very wearable and the pink shimmer makes it interesting.
I agree!
Now we’re talking! Alice reminds me of the UD shadow in Fireball, might have to swatch in person to see the shift. I might have a dupe, but picking up Mad Hatter anyway because I love the packaging and purple color. Time is unique too, but I already have Kat Von D Poe, will swatch tonight to see if it’s different enough to justify picking up.
Oh wait, I have KVD Slayer (not Poe) but Poe scored better than Time, hmmm will have to think about that one……
Poe is more matte, if that helps!
Wow, Time is really disappointing 🙁
🙁
Call me crazy with a capital C, but I must get ALL 3 of these!!! Time over a gray or dusky blurple pencil will be STUNNING! And Alice is a*perfect* topper for a dull nude that one has just sitting around, like say, MAC Spirit. Mad Hatter is just LOVE !!! ?
Enjoy ’em, Nancy! 🙂
I’m not surprised by the rating on these. But too sheers for these shades to be wearable. Time would have been a cool shade if it was more opaque.
It is funny how one shade was supposed to be sheer, yet the others aren’t opaque like most of the Revolution line and have no such description!
The colour of Alice reminds me of several powder products UD has released this year: OC blush / Fireball highlight / Duchess eyeshadow.
Not sure if I would like it as a lip colour on me – I don’t like wearing shimmery colours on my lips – but it sure looks pretty on you!
Yup! It is right in that vein.
I think Alice and Time will be pretty toppers over a pencil or more opaque lipstick, and I quite like Mad Hatter. I’m not too keen on Time by itself. I was hoping for something more opaque with that one, and it’s a little disappointing.. I think it will be fun to get the vibrant red matte (Iracebeth?), and see how these three layer over it.
They could work for layering for sure 🙂
Your eye look is one of my favourites that you’ve done in a while!
Thanks, Brittany!
I think I have a love hate relationship with all three. If I was clubbing often, I’d buy them all!
Aww!
Oh UD! I was hoping for better quality on these amazing colours… on a side note I love the Barnes & Noble Leatherbound Classics 😛 looks great with the lipsticks!
I wish the latter two were more opaque!
What a disappointing collection 🙁 I thought if the eyeshadow palette was going to be bad, maybe the lipstick collection might salvage it! Doesn’t look like it unfortunately!
Aww 🙁
I must have Alice! ? I am liking Mad Hatter too!
Enjoy ’em, Tara!
Definitely liking Mad Hatter; it looks really good with your eye look!
Thanks, Mary!
From your initial swatches I thought these were gonna be an easy pass. But now I’m thinking I may need Alice and Mad Hatter now that I see them on you!!! I love your look with Alice on with that vibrant red eyeshadow and rainbow liner!!! ?
Time is so disappointing. I so wish it would’ve been perfect!!!!
Thank you, Bonnie!
Bold colors! Clearly not my cup of tea but I do appreciate it when brands think outside of the box.
Good point!
I didn’t expect Alice to be the one I’m most interested in at the moment! Looks really pretty and kind of unique, too. Immediately going to try and find out if it’ll get released here or whether I’ll have to hunt it down elsewhere haha!
It is more unique, I think!
Ohhhh I love Alice and Mad Hatter.
Those seem to be the two catching everyone’s eyes!
Alice could be pretty cool, ilikethe ideal if the colour shift, I will have to swatch that in person. Mad hatter is going to be hard for me to pass on. Purple lipstick + cool packaging = ?❤️ But I already own all the dupes. I am surprisingly intrigued by Time. I’m wondering how Mad hatter mixed with Time would look. I may give that a try and justify mad hatter lol. Or maybe pick up Alice instead….decisions, decisions, what’s a girl to do??
It’s a cool shift, might be one fun to layer with as well.
I’m glad to see UD putting out non-traditional colors-that’s one thing that surprises me about them, when it comes to lipstick, it’s mainly nudes, pinks, & burgundies, which are very nice, but I’d like to see some more ‘out there’ colors from them. Like even some of the darker ones, like Venom for example, aren’t really that dark. And I wish they’d put out a liquid lipstick already! I know they have those liquid glosses, but they’re not as pigmented as they look in ads.
I loved Alice in the tube. But it looks terrible on me. It settles into fine lines and makes my lips look old. It’s so pretty, I’ve tried it over different lipsticks and lip pencils, but it still doesn’t look very good. So sad.
Oh no!! 🙁 I hope you can return it, Holly!
