Too Faced Natural Love Ultimate Neutral Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Natural Love
Too Faced Natural Love Ultimate Neutral Eyeshadow PaletteToo Faced Natural Love Ultimate Neutral Eyeshadow Palette ($59.00 for 0.90 oz.) includes 30 eyeshadows in varying shades of pinks, golds, and various neutral tones with some mattes and many shimmers. It’s housed in a large, cardboard palette and includes several shades from past neutral palettes they’ve released along with “brand new” shades.
It’s not the worst Too Faced palette I’ve encountered, but it’s not their best work–there are highlights and total misses within the palette, which is unsurprising as the brand’s track record with these larger palettes has been disappointing over the last couple of years. I think if you use primer, aren’t terribly concerned with having rich coverage in one layer, and like your neutrals, it’s not the worst way to spend your money. Too Faced’s formula–even when better–has always been the type (thin, a little powdery) that works significantly better over primer for coverage, blendability, and longevity.

Heaven
Heaven is a soft, yellowed beige with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had good pigmentation with a very soft texture, but it was rather powdery and kicked up a lot of excess product in the pan. On the lid, it blended out easily but had a tendency to drop powder, and the stronger white base of the color turned darker shades ashy if I wasn’t very, very careful using it. This shade wore well for seven hours on me.

Fairy Tale
Fairy Tale is a light-medium, yellow gold with a sparkling finish. The consistency was almost wet in feel, but it was chunky, as it had a lot of glitter. The coverage was semi-sheer, not at all buildable, and the glitter was loosely packed with the power, so there was fallout during application and also during the wear. It seemed to last around six and seven hours, though it was more difficult to gauge.

Bunny Nose
Bunny Nose is a medium pink with warmer undertones and a metallic sheen. It had semi-sheer to medium color payoff that was not buildable beyond that without using a good primer underneath it. The texture was soft, dusty, and sheered out very quickly, which was why it did not build well. The color wore well for six hours.

Honey Butter
Honey Butter is a soft, peachy orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-sheer pigmentation, which was not buildable, with a thin, dry, and dusty texture that was worthless without a primer (and still pretty dismal over a primer–could be used to diffuse edges of something else but did nothing well on its own). It had disappeared after a mere six hours of wear, as in it was entirely gone!

Makeup & Chill
Makeup & Chill is a dark brown with subtle, neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. Makeup & Chill
LELimited Edition. $16.00.
Stiletto
Stiletto is a deep black with cooler undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had good color coverage, though not quite opaque, that was buildable overall. The consistency was a little dusty in the pan, but it blended out without too much work. This shade wore well for seven and a half hours on me.

I’ve already got SEVEN of these shadows from previous 9-pan and LE Holiday palettes so even if this had scored higher, the fact that so many of the other shadows are shades I don’t need or are so similar to one another, it would be a wasteful purchase for me. I wish companies wouldn’t “recycle” names within their own brand….”Honeymoon” was in the Romantic Eye palette but in that one, it was a gorgeous greenish gold shade, nothing like the “Honeymoon” in this palette. (reminds me a bit of the 2 MAC Ego eyeshadows – one of them a pink one and one a dark green from Mega Metal)
It is so strange to me when you see a brand recycle names! Probably less strange with Too Faced (I feel like they pick names to suit the theme) than MAC, which doesn’t have quite the same commitment to thematic names.
I swatched this in store and agree, a very mixed bag. Some standouts, but many of the shadows were thin, and my oily lids tend to eat thru that kind of formula, even with primer. Also, the palette was very heavy on neutrals, will be skipping
Even though LORAC’s Pro formula is often powdery/dusty, a lot of them have more substance so they go on and apply better than Too Faced’s, which is powdery/dusty but so thin at times.
I love the look you did with the blue on the waterline. This palette is warmer than I thought it would be. Still a pass, though as I recently got the Nars Loaded palette!
Thank you, Indya!
Did you like Nars Loaded palette? I’m between the Nars one and the Too Faced one and can’t decide!
I like it, but it’s something I was looking for. It’s really warm, and I’ve got dark skin so a lot of the colors blend in to my skin. It’s a great high-quality palette for natural looks, but the Too Faced one appears more versatile in color.
So glad my feelings about this palette seem right–not worth it. I don’t know why they put out a palette with so many repeats anyway. I will say, I have the natural matte palette and honey butter seems to perform well. Have you compared it at all to the original honey butter in that palette? (Pretty sure that’s the name of the color in the natural matte palette). Anyway, thanks for the review. I’m glad I wasn’t tempted to get this, and if I was I was definitely going to wait for your review! So many people on Youtube just sing praises of anything that Too Faced sends them for PR.
Yes, Honey Butter performed better in the Natural Matte palette!
I bought this and all the shades I really liked in the palette were a total fail, so I was glad to see you confirmed that. Fairy Tale, Kittens, Bunny Nose…I was so mad they didn’t work well. The only shade I was wowed by was Honey Pot. I actually returned the palette and got the Tarte Make Believe in Yourself for my Spring palette purchase. I’m actually surprised this palette got a B overall grade!
B-, actually, and just barely (80%)!
Glad I decided to skip this – I already have several of the shades from the 9 pans I already own (Boudoir Eyes and Neutral Eyes).
Thank you for the review!
No problem, Jennifer!
It’s not for me; I have all the neutrals I need and the low quality of several of the shades is of course not helpful. Perhaps for a starter kit for some, but again, considering the quality issues I’d think there are better and ultimately more cost effective options for starter kits.
There is just too much inconsistency in this palette for the price!
I had been resisting this palette not so much because of the shadows but for the packaging. It is the first time in a long time that I have actually liked the TF packaging. However, I waited for your review and I am glad that I did. The packaging doesn’t make up for the shear numbers of poor shadows here and I have a lot of the shades already so glad you saved me the money, Christine.
I’m glad I could help, Deborah! 🙂
Glad I’m skipping it! Love bug is a pretty shade though.
Phew!
“it’s not the worst way to spend your money” – Hahahahaha love it! Thanks Christine! 🙂
🙂
I know, too funny! The epitome of “damning with faint praise.” So glad I didn’t buy this and never will. Too many other great products out there! Thanks for the review.
So sad that the purple shimmer in Undercover doesn’t show up on the skin, it looked gorgeous in the pan! Overall I think this palette is okay, but $60 for okay is a little steep…
There are better neutral palettes out there, IMO!
I’m not surprised by the grade this got, nor am I surprised by its scattered quality amongst its shades. Very typical of Too Faced of late, sadly. And yet, even though I own more neutrals than I’ll ever need, I was really hoping that TF would break out of their rut with this one! But no, their downward spiral into insipid mediocrity continues on its freefall.
I agree; it is, unfortunately, the norm now for Too Faced.
Even worse than I expected. I’m going to take the advice of the shade “Don’t Settle,” and pass on this. Pity, as the packaging is really pretty and the colors are very harmonize well together.
LOL!
I find it strange that Too Faced have so many under preforming eyeshadows in their palettes. A pity, I must say.
I do like some of the colours in the palette, but not enough to buy it,
I like the looks you did, using this, and I so appriciate the work you do with the reviews. I know I’ve said it before, but I think a repeat now and then are OK. Job well done, Christine.
What’s stranger to me is that they’re popular while facing consistent disappointment from some fans yet don’t seem to improve!
I think it’s taking a while for the poor quality to affect sales. A bigger consideration is that I think many people are buying TF for the packaging and not realizing how bad the actual product quality is; that is, they may not use better products to compare it to and so think this is normal.
That can be the case, yes.
Cute packaging, and good reviews from some youtubers probably helps.
It took me more than two bad Dior palettes to get that they were constantly underperforming, I bought Dior just because I was used to, this was before blogs and sites like this.
I find TF rather gimmicky with the scents and the cute packaging.
I love the looks you did, Christine!! It inspired me to wear blue on my waterline today!!!
I would use it, but as there’s not enough range of matte crease shades for me, I wont get it. I like to slowly build up my crease with lighter to dark shades
Blue is such a great shade to wear on the waterline!
Your eyes have more green in them than mine, but I tried wearing blue in the waterline because I saw how great it looked on your hazel eyes!!
And I totally fell in love with the look!! 🙂
Definitely not getting this one at full price. Many of the shades I like the best are also the ones that scored poorly. I know that price is not always an indicator of quality but I still find it appalling that anything mid-range and up should score an F! Even if it’s only one shade in a palette.
I mean, sometimes I’m not surprised if it’s something like a glitter eyeshadow, as brands never like to come right out and say, “Hey, this is glitter and won’t stick without a primer!” With more typical eyeshadow finishes, it is impressive (in a bad way).
I completely agree–why quality that poor in any palette from a higher end brand, especially for $60!
I actually tried putting Fairy Tale on my lids this morning over a matte Heaven layer. It literally all flew down over my cheeks and I don’t think a single sparkle stayed on my eyes. Ugh, this should not be happening in a $59 palette! Thanks for the review, wish I would’ve read this before I purchased!
Oh no!! I don’t think brands should include these types of shades unless they make it really clear that you need a glitter adhesive!
This mega palette could have been reduced by more than half if all the duplicates of shades were eliminated. So many similar colours of pinks, neutrals, orangey-rust etc.
Lots and lots of dupes too.
Thank you so much for your review Christine – this would have taken ages to do.
My pleasure, Genevieve!! Haha, it is daunting when there are this many shades. I entered all the dupes one day and wrote the text the next, lol!
For $2 a shadow, I guess it’s a good deal – that’s more in line with drugstore pricing per shade, and even less than many drug store brands. But if the performance isn’t there – hardly worth it – might as well spend the same $$$ on a palette or 2 that truly perform!
I really love this palette. The shades are so pigmented and great for everyday looks.
I have been looking at this palette for a while because of the pretty colors. Based on the poor performance, I will stop looking now. I know I can find something else to spend $59.00 on!
Ok, so this has just dropped in the UK (selfridges if anyone does want it) this is one of the few occasions where I’m glad we had to wait. When I first saw it I wanted the entire collection. Thankfully the hype has worn off, now I’ve had to wait and seen a few reviews and I’m justgoing to pass.
I have all of the chocolate bar palettes so I think I will just wait for something better to come along or I may even make up my own mac palette with some gold and pink tones in it. Thank you for this review and saving me some money!
I was wondering, how long would it be available ?
Because I really want to purchase it but I don’t if it worth the money..
I really don’t know!
Hi Christine, I bought the palette and haven’t used it yet. I am in a hunt for taupe/mauve for my sister’s wedding and that 3rd row caught my eye. I hesitated between this and the zoeva en taupe but the zoeva seemed too monotonous for me.
Now I am freaking out as people seem to report fall out during the day.
Did you experience severe fallout out of these eyeshadows please?
I would really appreciate the feedback in case I have to return it.
Many thanks in advance!
Hi Houda!
It depends on the shade! I noted fallout about where it occurred – you could do a search for the word “fallout” 🙂
Thank you :). I did read carefully. I just asked in case it changed since. I will go back to the review then and make up my mind. I really need some of the shades so I guess I will have to cope with the duds. Thank you for the infomative content as always!
I don’t re-test products after the review goes up unless there’s been an actual formula change (and I’ve since purchased the new formula) – hope that clarifies! 🙂
Perfect! Thank you 🙂
