Too Faced Clover Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Clover
Too Faced Clover Eyeshadow Palette ($49.00 for 0.48 oz.) is a new, limited edition palette exclusively available through Too Faced. It contains 18 eyeshadows in a variety of neutrals, pops of color, mattes, and shimmers. It’s better than the average Too Faced release, but I would highly recommend primer a must-have step in one’s routine to consider this palette as the application was inconsistent without and the wear was under-performing.

Puppy Eyes
Puppy Eyes is a pale white with subtle, cool undertones and a sprinkling of sparkle. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a powdery texture that had a tendency to sheer out a bit too readily. It wore well for seven hours on me before fading.

Lucky Clover
Lucky Clover is a light-medium green with warm, yellow undertones and a pearl finish. The pigmentation was opaque, while the texture was soft but also dusty and drier, so it wasn’t as vibrant on the lid for long as it tended to fade within a few minutes. After the initial fading, it stayed on well for six and a half hours.

Chihuahua
Chihuahua is a very light, golden brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had good pigmentation with a more powdery, thin texture, which did sheer out and did not go on as evenly as desired when used on bare skin. This was a shade that did, however, improve significantly over primer. It lasted for six and a half hours on its own.

SaveThemAll
SaveThemAll is a dark brown with subtle, warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic sheen. The consistency was drier and had looser, almost chunky sparkle that seemed to spread away from the underlying color as I blended it, so there was a ton of fallout during application. It seemed like most of the fallout occurred during application and not much during the seven hours it wore for.

Spoiled (Clover)
Spoiled (Clover) is a light-medium bluish-teal with cool undertones and a pearly sheen. The texture was drier and a bit chunky, which made it hard to apply evenly to bare skin. Daddies Love Me
Daddies Love Me is a dark, pinky red with cool undertones and a matte finish. It was incredibly powdery with a looser press and slight graininess overall. The pigmentation was semi-sheer to medium coverage, as it had a tendency to sheer out as I worked with it, and over primer, it was better but never opaque. It worked best with another color underneath it. On me, it wore well for seven hours before fading noticeably.

TF Mascot
TF Mascot is a medium-dark fuchsia with cool, blue undertones and a pearly sheen. It had excellent color payoff that applied evenly to bare skin and blended out well. The texture was soft without being too thin or dusty. It lasted for seven and a half hours before fading on me.

Good Boy
Good Boy is a bright, light-medium yellow with warm undertones and a matte finish. The consistency wasn’t too soft or too firm in the pan, which made it easier to pick up product, blend it out, and retain the coverage one intended (as opposed to it sheering out immediately). It had excellent pigmentation that stayed on nicely for eight hours.

I am happy for anyone who might want this that it received a passing grade. Although there are a couple individual colours that are quite pretty, my first impression of this was that of a child’s paintbox. Lots of pretty colours to paint pretty pictures, but not too many colours I would want on my eyes.
Huh, looks like TF finally got that purple to work.
I am totally mystified as to how such a lovely eyeshadow palette such as this could be released back-to-back with that miserable White Chocolate palette from the SAME company! This one is truly nice, though!
Very cute packaging, and it’s nice to know that TF released a better palette for a change. And isn’t this the palette that TF created to donate a percentage of the proceeds to Best Friends Animal Society?
I would consider getting it, but I just got KVD Saint & Sinner, so I’m covered for colorful eyeshadow palettes for awhile.
I so wanted this palette to be an A. I love dogs and eyeshadows inspired by a cute dog seems like a no-brainer, but alas, the swatches (and Christine’s review) do not lie.
With incredibly oily lids, primer is a must have for me anyways. I need to get my hands on this, I think!
Yes! So happy to see this review. Granted I’m mostly getting this palette for the collectibility factor (that packaging!) but it’s great to see the two colors I was most interested in using, Good Boy and Mascot, scored well.
Love the eye look you came up with!
Well at least they did better than the new White Chocolate nightmare.
A very bright and colourful palette, but I think there is far better value in lots of others eg Kat von D Saint and Sinner, Metal Matte etc.
Lovely eye look Christine.
It’s confusing : I love half of the colors, and hate the other half lol. For some reason, I am offended by the last yellow. Some shades are really pretty though, and I find the palette quite unique.
Might buy dupes of the shades I want, but not the palette.
By Too Faced standards, it’s good. I could tell this was hyped up, because I already saw bootlegs on ebay months ago!
Don’t need any more palettes right now but this one is much too cutrsy for my taste anyway.
Can’t help but notice some of the odder names.
“Daddies love me” makes me think of all the shade names from Clovers point of view.
This palette looks decent and the colors are unique! But for that price I’d honestly rather get a palette from juvias place for similar colors.
Thanks for the review 🙂
This seems such a disjointed collection of colours and in addition, there are too many reds and pinks for me to get any use of and the 2 shades I like best (Save Them All/ Save the Mall??? – at this time of year, the latter seems to resonate – and Spoiled) are shades for which I have much better quality dupes.
I’m curious to know if any of the proceeds from this palette are going to any sort of animal welfare group – the SPCA or a rescue organization or spay/neuter program. Personally, I’d rather just donate the money directly to something like Service Dogs Canada.
“To celebrate the launch of our Clover palette we are donating $250,000 to Best Friends Animal Society!”
Oh, this is very good to know! I’ve never heard of that particular society but I’m guessing it’s a good one and legit as TF would have checked it out carefully.
It’s legit, it’s a well-known animal rescue that does a lot of work all over the US.
I … think it’s okay. That’s actually a positive thing, as I assumed I wouldn’t like it or see any value i it when I read references to it previously. I kind of despise the packaging, but the combination of colors and finishes is very pleasing — they really work!
If I didn’t already have UD Spectrum, and if it weren’t decorated like a three-year old’s t-shirt, I’d probably decide to get it. As it is, I’m in no danger of succumbing.
Seriously, the more I look at this, the more amazing the colors are. Don’t get me wrong, I love the way UD Spectrum is laid out because … who wouldn’t? But, I almost like this better. You can pick almost any three shadows in a row, or even ones in an “L,” and get a good look. A few of them would be very daring, and some would need an additional lighter color (and I’m choosing to ignore the black and the white), but it’s surprising how inspiring this is.
Wow, such a mixed bag! I’m especially surprised that the purple was one of the best performing shades. Definitely didn’t see that coming!
Gosh, your eye look Christine is selling this palette! Wasn’t on my list even with the funky pretty colors, but when I say what you accomplished I was shocked it only receive a B. But I shall resist (pray!!!) 😉
Christine likes PIGMENT, I find, so when she gives a product a B that’s my speed. I bought this palette right out of the gate because I wanted TF Mascot in my life. Unlike other commenters here, I had no warm palettes in my collection, only cool or neutral, but happily enough Clover’s warm colors look pretty good on me.
To add my two cents: You do need a good primer for this bad boy. I have oily lids and without a primer the shadow was gone almost instantly. Like, in a half an hour it looked like an over-blended mess of nothing. With a so-so eyeshadow primer I had a little buildup in my crease that I had to deal with after about 5 hours but it lasted about 8 altogether. I re-did the same look the following day with primer and it lasted until late evening with no creasing, so about 12 hours. With a setting spray and a good primer a similar look survived the same length of time, plus a boxing and a yoga class and when I removed my makeup before bed it still looked like it did when I applied it at 7am that morning. I have to work with primer regardless, so I don’t care.
I came here initially to see what Christine had to say about Cuteness Overload, because that color looks really gross in the pan. But on the lid it looks fantastic. Christine isn’t complaining about it and no other blogs seem to mention it either, so maybe it is just me.
Hey Karen,
Just to clarify – I go by what the brand claims, and in this case (and most cases), Too Faced claims high pigmentation. These are their exact words: “Rich, high-pigment shadows offer true color payoff.” It’s not at all about what I like or don’t like – it’s about whether the product lives up to the claim(s) made by the brand. If the brand is pretty silent on claims, then I hold the product to the general expectation (basically what MOST products of the type claim based on the brand’s other products, like Too Faced’s other eyeshadows if this palette had no description, or all brands based on my years of experience).
I’m happy that you’re enjoying your palette overall and have found a way to “read” my grades so that they’re useful for your personal preferences! 🙂
Hi Christine,
Your explanation gives me more insight into your grading! Thank you for clarifying.
