Smokey Eyes are Forever Confident Eyes Smoke is a soft black with a semi-matte finish. There was barely-there iridescent pearl running through it that I could see in the swatch, but it looked like a matte in practice. The brand referred to "magic mattes" in the palette but only this shade felt like what they described--it's denser, thinner, and creamier but definitely a dry powder as it had sheerer, almost patchy pigmentation used dry and much more intense coverage applied with a wet brush (and the eyeshadow didn't develop a film over where it had been used wet).
It worked decently for darkening over another eyeshadow, but on its own, dry, it wasn't the most blendable. It wore well for eight hours before fading visibly.
